Chapter 223: Escape from the Zombie-Siege Church
"Luna——"
"Luna!"
Asha kept calling out to Luna, but it was no use.
She could only watch helplessly as the mutated zombie picked up Luna, who was holding a bloody baby in her arms. She was not afraid at all, and waved to Asha, saying in a very relaxed tone: "Asha, stay alive."
She turned her back to the mutated zombie and gave Asha a gentle smile, and Asha's tears fell.
One third of the zombies in the church left along with the mutated zombie.
But the zombies continued to pour into the church. Zhao Yunduo had already climbed up the stairs. Seeing Asha still standing on the chair, she reached out her hand to Asha.
"Do you want to come with me?" Zhao Yunduo asked.
Asha looked at Luna's receding back, and Zhang Yong, who had been bitten to pieces on the ground - she no longer had any relatives.
"Yes!" Asha blinked back her tears, grabbed Zhao Yunduo's hand, and after being pulled up, she followed closely behind Zhao Yunduo and climbed up the stairs.
The zombies couldn't climb up, and gathered around the stairs. Some were squeezed to the ground, but the zombies that came up again didn't notice anything, stepped on the bodies of their own kind, and reached out to grab them.
The hill formed by the zombies became higher and higher. When Asha climbed to the top of the building, Zhao Yunduo slammed the door leading to the roof, completely isolating the zombies below.
The zombies nearby were all heading towards the church. It was unknown what orders the mutant zombie had issued to the group of zombies. They seemed to want to trap her using the "zombie sea tactics".
Zhao Yunduo used a telescope to look at the situation nearby and found that the mutant zombies and Luna were no longer visible, but there were still zombies in an endless stream not far away.
Asha held Zhao Yunduo's hand tightly on the roof, her legs still shaking a little, "There are so many zombies, what should we do..."
Zhao Yunduo put the telescope back into his own space, glanced at Asha and said, "The zombies won't bite you, so why are you afraid?"
Asha paused with red eyes, then suddenly burst into laughter, "That's right, the zombies don't bite me."
Zhao Yunduo was amused by her silly look and wiped away the blood stain on her cheek which belonged to someone unknown. As she was wiping, her hand paused and she suddenly thought of something and took out two large speakers from the space.
Asha's eyes widened. "Where did you get these two guys from?"
Zhao Yunduo did not answer her. After handing her the stereo, she said, "I have a very important task for you."
"What?"
Five minutes later, Asha was standing at the door of the church, holding a stereo in each hand, her mind still a little confused.
The volume of the stereo was turned up very high, and the festive song "Good Luck Comes" kept lingering in her ears.
More and more zombies were attracted by the deafening singing. She shouted to the roof, "Clouds—the zombies are following me!"
As expected, the zombies didn't bite her. Some just sniffed her scent and left her head in disappointment.
Asha didn't dare to act rashly, and carefully led the zombie to the back of the church. Her heart was beating fast, as she was not familiar with Zhao Yunduo, and she didn't know if Zhao Yunduo would use her to get away.
Although she felt a little uneasy, she decided to trust Zhao Yunduo. After all, she had lost everything and had no better place to go. As long as the zombies didn't eat her, it wouldn't hurt her.
What's more, her stomach was still aching slightly. If Zhao Yunduo hadn't given her a painkiller, she might not even be able to come down the stairs.
The further Asha walked, the more zombies followed her. The church was quiet, and Asha felt more and more uneasy. Could Zhao Yunduo have really run away secretly?
Suddenly, Asha heard a rumbling sound like a motorcycle.
She couldn't wait to tiptoe and look towards the church, and a figure riding a motorcycle appeared in Asha's sight.
"Clouds—I'm here—"
Asha became excited instantly. She raised the two speakers high up and shook them to indicate to Zhao Yunduo that she was here.
Zhao Yunduo naturally saw her easily. Even if she didn't raise the stereo, it was easy to see where she was from the direction of the zombies.
After she drove her motorcycle out of the church, she randomly found a place with few zombies. After turning off the motorcycle, she stood on one foot on the ground, raised the horn and shouted at Asha.
"Asha, put the stereo on the ground and walk out slowly. I'll wait for you outside."
A few zombies were attracted by the sound of Zhao Yunduo's horn and turned to walk towards him, but Zhao Yunduo ruthlessly chopped off their heads with a long knife.
Asha quickly rushed out of the group of zombies. Zhao Yunduo started the motorcycle, bypassed the zombies that were not sociable or followed Asha out, and stopped the motorcycle steadily in front of Asha.
"Get in the car." Zhao Yunduo said.
After Asha got in the car, she suddenly leaned on Zhao Yunduo's shoulder and started giggling.
She said, "Yunduo, you look so handsome riding a motorcycle. It reminds me of when I was still in school, Ayong would pick me up after school in the same way."
She leaned her head on Zhao Yunduo's left shoulder and sighed, "I was so happy at that time..."
Zhao Yunduo didn't say anything, she was concentrating on driving the motorcycle, but after a while, she found that her left shoulder was a little wet.
The song "Good Luck to You" coming from the stereo suddenly became sad. Zhao Yunduo glanced in the rearview mirror and found that Asha had a very quiet expression and didn't know what she was thinking.
She looked back and found that there were still scattered zombies following them.
Asha didn't know whether it was because she had just given birth to a child, but she was particularly attractive to the zombies. Coupled with the sound system, the effect was so explosive that it could even affect the commands issued by the mutated zombies to the zombie swarm.
If it wasn't Asha this time, Zhao Yunduo would have to spend some effort to escape.
"Hold on tight!"
As Zhao Yunduo spoke, he patted Asha's hand, signaling her to hold him tight.
Zhao Yunduo grabbed the handlebars of the motorcycle and sped away.
I don't know how long the motorcycle drove, but there were only a few zombies left around, so Zhao Yunduo finally found a house to rest.
Asha followed her out of the car, and Zhao Yunduo realized that there was a lot of blood on her stomach. Her face turned pale with pain, but she didn't say a word.
Zhao Yunduo took out a sedative from the space. She had learned a lot from Zhou Micheng, so giving injections was no problem for her. "I'll give you an injection of painkillers. You should have a good rest."
Asha had been struggling all the way and no longer had the energy to ask where the medicine came from. She nodded and said, "Thank you, Yunduo."
After the injection, Asha had the most peaceful sleep since giving birth.
