Chapter 5 Chapter 5 Inexplicable Indifference

Chapter 5 Chapter 5 Inexplicable Indifference

The second-year high school class was always quick. Twenty minutes after finding the novel, Pei Shuyu saw a piece of paper notifying the class of criticism on the head teacher's desk.

Li Ran held the cup, his fingers focused on the white paper, his face clearly showing anger. "What's going on? Is this the surprise you told me about? Can't you just let me worry less? And you're still reading novels? Do you still have the energy to read novels now?"

"In two months, after the high school entrance exam, you will be in your third year of high school, and you have no sense of crisis at all."

Pei Shuyu lowered her head slightly, staring at the tips of her shoes, and was scolded without saying a word.

In the huge office, several teachers looked over from time to time. Director Chen was whispering with another teacher about the meeting.

"Did you hear that?" Li Ran's voice became a little louder.

Pei Shuyu: "I heard it."

Li Ran: "Will you watch it again in the future?"

Pei Shuyu: "I won't watch it anymore."

Li Ran put down his water cup, picked up the paper with the notice on it, and crumpled it into a ball. "This won't happen again. Go back."

The director saw the paper that was supposed to be posted in the lobby on the first floor of the teaching building was thrown into the trash can. He was about to say something when there was a knock on the open office door.

Ji Yan was standing at the door holding a test paper.

Seeing the outstanding student in his class, the dean's expression softened a bit: "Ji Yan, what's wrong?"

Ji Yan seemed to have just seen Chen Ye and called out "Homeroom Teacher." Then, she raised the test paper in her hand and said, "I'm not sure about a question. I want to ask the math teacher."

Among the teachers currently working in this office, Li Ran happens to be the only one who teaches mathematics.

Hearing Ji Yan's voice, Pei Shuyu turned his head.

Their eyes met for a split second before Ji Yan looked away from her and walked straight to Li Ran's desk. "Teacher Li, I'm not sure if there's a problem with the solution to this problem. Could you please take a look for me?"

Li Ran took the paper and said, "Okay, Pei Shuyu, you go back first."

Pei Shuyu: "Goodbye, teacher."

After leaving the office, Pei Shuyu felt as if he had survived a disaster and felt relaxed all over.

Being caught reading a novel wouldn't be a big deal, but if it was to be announced to the whole school, Pei Shuyu didn't think she was shameless enough to do that.

In particular, she saw that the director had bolded the name of the novel on the paper announcing the criticism.

Taishe is dead.

Fortunately, the class teacher was there, and Ji Yan arrived at the right time, so the director didn't catch him again.

But Ji Yan didn't even look at her twice at that time. She even planned to greet him secretly, but he completely ignored her.

What do you mean? That's too much.

Pei Shuyu was a little unhappy.

Pei Shuyu returned to Class 10 with a lack of interest and sat obediently in his seat.

But it seemed like she was the one who caused Ji Yan to ignore her.

When someone came to ask her for help with the blackboard newspaper, she was still saying that she didn't have enough time. Ji Yan's face turned cold, and she wanted to explain, but she was called to the office by the class teacher to be scolded.

Pei Shuyu held her chin with both hands, her mind blank.

Qi Ying crossed two rows and sat next to her, almost burying his head in Pei Shuyu's desk, looking up at her expression from bottom to top: "What's wrong? What did the class teacher say?"

Pei Shuyu pushed Qi Ying away, Ji Yan's cold expression still in her mind. She briefly explained the situation: "Sister Ban told me not to watch anymore."

Qi Ying knew she was almost reported, and was happy for her: "Luckily, there's class teacher." She thought of something and leaned lazily against the back desk. "By the way, Ji Yan also asked me why you were called to the office."

Pei Shuyu looked at her.

Qi Ying spread his hands and said, "I told her your story and she left after listening to it."

Pei Shuyu's brows twitched, and her depressed mood was swept away. A bright smile appeared on her face, without any trace of the frustration she had been scolded for. "Is that so?"

So, Ji Yan went to the office to find her?

No, after he came in, he didn't even want to look at her. How could he go to the office just for her?

Maybe he went there to laugh at her and find something to hold against her.

Pei Shuyu curled her lips.

Since he was free anyway and had nothing extra to do, Pei Shuyu simply picked up the sketch board and took out a thick sheet of sketch paper from the bag on the back of the sketch board and clipped it in.

Take out two soft charcoal pencil tips as long as your little fingers and a piece of hard charcoal.

First use hard carbon to shape the object, then use soft carbon to outline the shape.

Pei Shuyu didn't draw any sketches today, so he first got a feel for the texture.

After what happened to Pei Shuyu, the others didn't dare to do anything else for the time being. They either drew sketches or memorized knowledge points.

At the end of afternoon study, Pei Shuyu was sketching the outline of a single figure, outlining the folds of clothing. He felt bad about having to abruptly end the painting halfway through, so he decided to finish it before going back to Ji Yan.

Ji Yan came here on her own initiative.

Pei Shuyu noticed someone approaching, and she raised her eyes. She was about to say "sit down" with a smile, but suddenly she remembered Ji Yan's indifferent attitude towards her in the office, and the curve of her lips was suppressed.

Pretend not to see it and continue drawing your own.

Ji Yan sat at her deskmate's seat. Qi Ying's sketchpad was still there, casually covered. The black surface was covered with a brightly colored name. "Did you change seats?"

Pei Shuyu's deskmate is not Qi Ying.

Pei Shuyu: "No."

Ji Yan: “Hmm?”

After finishing the last stroke, Pei Shuyu put down the sketchpad, picked up the facial cleanser in the book basket, and squeezed two pumps into her palm: "I'm going to wash my hands."

Inexplicably cold.

It was clearly she who freed up her time for other classes first, but now she is the one who is throwing a tantrum first.

Ji Yan tapped the table intermittently.

Pei Shuyu came back with two wet hands and saw the girl who was standing with her eyes downcast and silent, with a corner of her body touched by the dim light.

The blue and white school uniform jacket reveals the girl's gentle side, and the scattered hair on the forehead cuts off the remaining bright line. Just sitting there quietly, she is a fascinating painting.

When they were just assigned to art class in their second year of high school, Ji Yan came to the art class to find her for the first time, wearing a similar blue and white school uniform short-sleeved shirt.

After changing seats, Ji Yan thought Pei Shuyu was still sitting there. Going against the flow of people leaving get out of class, she walked sideways into Class 10 and went straight to the back row of the first group.

Someone from her former cultural studies class called out to Ji Yan, and Ji Yan turned around and smiled politely. The light at that time was much more glaring than it is now, making Ji Yan look like she was glowing.

The lips painted with lipstick are shiny.

Maybe it wasn't Ji Yan who was glowing, but someone had inexplicably cast a layer of filtered light over her.

At that time, Pei Shuyu was sitting in her new seat and talking to her deskmate. When she saw this scene, she fell silent.

The same thing happened to her deskmate. She couldn't help but look at her deskmate. She clearly saw the surprise in her deskmate's eyes, and then her mouth opened wide.

But her trance lasted only a second or two. Her deskmate excitedly grabbed her hand and said, "She looks so good. Is she in our class too?"

Ji Yan at that time was too dazzling, but the Ji Yan in front of him now exuded the softness of an April spring breeze.

Pei Shuyu shook her head slightly and took out two pieces of tissue paper to wipe her hands. "I'll go to your class for evening study on Tuesday of the deadline. I promised Class 2 the time on Monday."

Ji Yan raised an eyebrow: "Didn't you share your time with others?"

Pei Shuyu grumbled, "I guessed you would come to see me, and I was ready a long time ago. Who knew you would be so easily teased?"

And he even gave her a cold look! Pei Shuyu complained in her heart.

After dinner, Pei Shuyu went to the small supermarket and bought a pack of tissues.

I used someone else's tissue paper to hide my phone before, and then kicked it. I should buy a new pack and return it to the owner.

There was still no teacher watching over the evening study session. The grade group inspected the class several times, and Li Ran came once.

The brief serious and dull atmosphere in the afternoon was broken by a meal. The classroom of Class 10 became a little noisy during evening self-study. Those who were supposed to read novels continued to read novels under the guise of others, and those who were chatting about gossip gathered in pairs and talked about everything that happened in each class of the second year of high school.

Pei Shuyu listened to the sounds around him, his facial features twisted, his heart and eyes filled with reluctance.

There was a math test paper in front of her.

Ji Yan was right next to her, reading a classic.

I shouldn't have chosen to stay in school. It's only an hour's walk there and back. It's okay. It's much better than being forced here to do damn math problems.

Pei Shuyu scribbled a few strokes on the draft paper in anger: "I wish math was as easy as painting."

Ji Yan looked straight ahead and said, "Do what you know first, and skip what you don't know."

Pei Shuyu said lifelessly: "Oh."

Jump, jump, jump, finally, I jumped to the last big question, and continued jumping.

Pei Shuyu: "I've finished writing."

Ji Yan closed the book and took the test paper from Pei Shuyu with a guilty look on his face.

"Let me make it clear first, don't get angry when you see it."

"Um."

Ji Yan had done it once in the morning and knew the answers by heart.

At a glance, Ji Yan's calm face showed some fluctuations, and Pei Shuyu, who was very attentive to facial features, would feel inexplicably panicked for a moment whenever the fluctuations appeared.

After what Pei Shuyu felt was a long examination, but in reality took less than a minute, Ji Yan asked calmly, "Did you do it carefully?"
