Chapter 5

Chapter 5

At the end of morning reading, the announcement asked all grades to go to the playground for the opening ceremony. The default location was the large playground at the foot of the mountain.

There was no need to memorize the route for this kind of group activity; just follow the path. Gu Fang trailed behind as they left the classroom. The majority of Class 2 were already heading downstairs, but Lu Si stood at the entrance, blatantly checking his phone, as if he wasn't afraid of the school leaders at all.

Gu let him go and was about to go downstairs when he felt a force on his sleeve from behind.

Lu Si easily grabbed it and put his phone in his pocket. Standing taller, he seemed even taller, almost looking down at Gu Fang: "Old Du asked me to take you to pick up the school uniform. We'll check it on the playground later."

School uniforms can be collected in the gymnasium behind the rostrum.

The freshmen's uniforms were piled high like a mountain, and the first-year class committee members went to the teachers one by one to receive their uniforms. With over thirty classes, the crowd was too large and the mess was chaotic. The sweat and pheromones mixed together. Lu Si frowned at the door and turned to block Gu Fang's way as he walked forward with his head down.

"Wait here."

Gu Fang looked up and felt the pheromones of others that seemed to annoy him. He said "oh", silently inhaled the cool mint scent on Lu Si's body, and stepped back to stand outside the door.

Lu Si came out with a frown on his face, holding a summer school uniform T-shirt and trousers, but a white jacket with green stripes. Gu Fang recognized it as a freshman uniform, as Lu Si's was white with blue stripes.

"The batch of school uniforms for senior year hasn't arrived yet. We only have the freshman uniforms." Lu Si folded the T-shirt and pants and handed them to him. His movements were skillful and neat. "The freshman uniforms are the same as ours. Only the jackets are not enough."

Standing among the senior students wearing a freshman's coat, I was really conspicuous.

Gu Fang thought for a moment and walked to the bathroom nearby: "I'll just change into a T-shirt."

His sleeves were pulled from behind again. Lu Si lowered his eyes and said in a low, questioning voice, "Aren't you cold?"

Gu Fang tilted his head and looked at him, "Are you okay?"

The mountain breeze in the early morning of September was mixed with moist moisture. Lu Si thought, since Lao Du asked him to take his new deskmate to pick up the school uniform, he should be responsible to the end.

Suddenly remembering something, Lu Si ran towards the locker room behind the gymnasium. Gu Fang was stunned for a moment and then followed him.

In the empty locker room, Lu Si opened one of the small cabinets for clothes and fished out a school uniform that had been put away for a long time. As he took off his coat, he casually explained, "I put it here when I played basketball before, and I forgot to take it away. It's been a while. You can wear the one I'm wearing."

Lu Si threw the school uniform he had just taken off to him. Gu Fang held it in his arms, feeling a little overwhelmed.

"Hmm?" Lu Si had already changed into his old uniform. Seeing that he was still stunned, he took the uniform and smelled it. "It doesn't smell. I just washed it."

When he lowered his head, his black hair hung down, revealing his slender neck. The skin there glowed snow-white because it had not seen the sun for many years. Gu Fang's blank gaze fell on it and he couldn't move his eyes away.

…That’s the source of the smell.

Because of the aftereffects, Gu Fang was unusually sensitive to pheromones in the air. What Lu Si perceived as "nothing" smelled like a gentle, steady rain to him, sending a chilly breeze piercing his nasal cavity, glands, and skin.

The itch in his heart made him stare at the back of Lu Si's neck.

This was not a normal reaction for an Omega.

Gu Fang snapped back to his senses, awkwardly turning his head away, forcing himself to look away. The sight of falling hair obscuring his eyes was unbelievable. He'd thought he simply liked the scent of Lu Si's pheromones, but why...

Lu Si was still checking the smell on it, frowning, and patting it patiently: "It's okay, just wear it for now, don't be so..."

He swallowed the word "spoiled" before he could even utter it. While he was hesitating, the other person suddenly snatched the school uniform from his hand, slung it over his arm, and walked out quickly without even looking back.

Lu Si stood there in a daze for a moment.

As it flashed by, he smelled a faint...fragrance.

It was an extremely cool fragrance, and he couldn't describe what it was specifically. He just intuitively felt that this fragrance belonged to plants in nature.

Is it Gu Fang’s...pheromone?

After going out, Gu Fang was pursing his lips and looking at the scenery outside the corridor. He had already changed into his school uniform.

Lu Si glanced at his expression, put his hands in his pockets and walked forward. After walking for a while, he glanced at his expression again. His delicate and beautiful face was as cold and reserved as ever, not like he was in heat.

While Lu Si felt relieved, he also felt a strange sense of worry about his previous worries.

His concern for his new deskmate was actually a little abnormal, which was not like his usual self.

Listening to the principal's long and boring speech on the radio, Lu Si calmed down and quickly found an excuse. Perhaps it was because it was his first time in close contact with an Omega. After a long time, he wouldn't be able to do that.

He didn't look at it again. He thought he might as well memorize a few more words instead of taking the free time.

He spoke eloquently on the podium for a whole class, awarded scholarships, and then let the devastated students leave.

Le Jiayu accurately walked around most of the playground and found Gu Fang among the crowd of people in Class 2.

"Here, it's strawberry milk." She stuffed the thing into his hand.

"Drinking milk tea so early in the morning?"

"You don't understand," Le Jiayu said, disdaining his disconnect. "This is one of the ways young people today socialize."

Walking towards the teaching building on the mountainside, the road is lined with banners advertising club recruitment.

The club leaders of the second year of high school grabbed the freshmen and started the annual battle to recruit them.

As we all know, there are three top-ranked high schools in this city, namely No. 6 Middle School, No. 12 Middle School and Foreign Language Middle School.

No. 6 Middle School is known for its strict ethos; forget about clubs, student unions, or performances. Foreign Language School, on the other hand, is known for its openness and freedom, boasting a wealth of student activities that even ordinary universities can't match. No. 12 Middle School's ethos falls somewhere in between: open, as holidays are certainly occupied; strict, however, with a rich variety of clubs and activities.

The students of No. 12 Middle School summarized it this way: we study to our heart's content, and at the same time, we seize opportunities and play to our heart's content.

The high school sophomore's jacket was white with gray stripes. Among a bunch of club leaders, there was a very conspicuous boy wearing a blue stripe standing next to the street dance club's table.

"Is that... Jing Xingye?"

Gu Fang narrowed his eyes slightly. The last time they met was during the Chinese New Year last year, so it was not difficult to recognize him.

Le Jiayu scoffed, "Who else could it be besides him? Didn't the school say that, in principle, it's recommended that seniors no longer serve as club leaders? Our school bully, Ye Zi, is one of only two seniors who are currently serving as club leaders."

"Only two?" Gu Fang's eyes showed curiosity.

"There's another one," Le Jiayu said in a sarcastic tone, "It's naturally our brother Lu Si——"

Gu Fang restrained his expression and asked calmly, "Le Le, why don't you like him?"

"Don't you think he's too pretentious?" Le Jiayu thought without hesitation. "He has a long history of bad deeds, bullying the weak and even beating up Omegas. I don't know what's so cool about him. Oh, what was your homeroom teacher thinking, letting you two sit together? I'm so worried about him now that I can't sleep well..."

"Even Omegas?" Gu Fang grasped the key point, his eyes fixed on Le Jiayu's face: "When, where, and why?"

Startled by his unusually serious expression, Le Jiayu swallowed hard, "It was probably during our second year of high school, in the junior high school affiliated with our school. He cornered a group of freshman Omegas in the bathroom. I don't know what they did, but they were so scared they transferred schools overnight. It's a done deal, and Lu Si was even singled out by the school."

"—Why?" Le Jiayu struggled to recall. "Who knows when they provoked him? You can't use common sense to think about this kind of thing. Let it go."

The more he thought about it, the scarier it became.

If Fang Fang, who is so delicate and tender, were to be trapped in the restroom and fall into the hands of the great evil Lu Si, she would be tortured and unable to speak out...

"!" He suddenly shuddered and grabbed Gu Fang's arm, "Fang Fang, I'll transfer to your class tomorrow!"

"Don't come," Gu Fang declined politely, "I'll be annoyed."

Le Jiayu covered her face and cried.

Gu Fang reluctantly offered a few words of comfort: "You're already in your third year of high school. Changing classes will affect your studies. Besides, who would switch from a liberal arts class to a science class?"

"It's okay," Le Jiayu said, "I asked Jing Xingye to help me anyway. He won't dare to do anything to you."

Gu Fang didn't understand why Lu Si would target him alone.

However, he couldn't figure out the logic with Le Jiayu, who was in charge, so he simply didn't bring it up.

"Senior!" Suddenly, a sophomore girl handed over a flyer, "Are you interested in joining the art club?"

"?" He and Le Jiayu both looked at each other in confusion. Didn't the school forbid high school seniors from joining clubs?

The girl met Gu Fang's gaze, her blush becoming more pronounced. Her professionalism remained strong. "The school suggests it, not mandates it. You can participate if you want. Seniors, are you interested in coming? Don't rush to make a decision. After school at noon, you can stop by our activity room. It's in the Cultural and Sports Building."

Le Jiayu took the flyer for him and turned around and said, "Sure, Fangfang, don't you like painting?"

Gu Fang was a little indifferent and didn't comment: "Let's talk about it later."

"enjoy!"

After playing basketball, Chen Yi came back and stood in front of the air conditioner, lifting up his clothes to let the air in.

Lu Si placed the copied test paper on his deskmate's desk, pressed it down with a few pens, ignored Chen Yi, and sat down to catch up on his sleep.

Chen Yicai noticed a small pot of mint on the window.

He poked it curiously, and it seemed to be getting more and more familiar the more he smelled it. Looking at Lu Ge who was about to lie down, a flash of inspiration suddenly occurred to him, and he was so surprised that he felt like he had discovered a new world:

"Brother Lu! Isn't this the smell of your pheromones?"

Lu Si had already laid down and slowly turned around.

His eyes were cold: "What do you mean?"

Chen Yi held the mint in front of him and said, "Smell it! This is the smell of you! I used to think that using ordinary mint wasn't the right way to describe it, but now I've finally found the right one!"

Lu Si lowered his tired eyelids and also smelled the scent.

Chen Yi blinked. "Right, right? By the way, who brought this?"

Lu Si opened his mouth, but no words came out.

The author has something to say:

Yes, Xiaolu, he is craving your pheromones.
