Chapter 52
Gu Fang returned to Room 603 at the last 10 o'clock curfew.
The first thing he had to do when he got home was to put his homework on his schedule. It wasn't that he was anxious, but he was worried that if his boyfriend had the same need again, he wouldn't be able to satisfy it because he was too nervous. Wouldn't that be embarrassing?
Gu Fang never does anything without preparation, and if he does something, he does it to the best of his ability.
Just as he wrote this down on his memo, he turned around and saw three pairs of eyes staring at him, a gaze that was so creepy that it made his hair stand on end. Gu Fang groaned and asked hesitantly, "What's wrong?"
Chen Jingyuan seemed to have flipped a switch. He yelled "Ah!" and came over to shake his shoulder: "Look at the forum! My ancestors have been blown away!"
Gu Fang still didn't quite understand. He blinked, then dazedly opened his browser, searching for his school's forum URL. He wasn't much of a fine arts student, completely absorbed in the rival forums, and now he was struggling to find his own school.
Chen Jingyuan looked anxious.
Meng Qi wanted to stuff his cell phone into his hand.
Zhang Chuhe calmly adjusted his glasses and summarized the situation with one sentence: "It's about what happened at the campus music competition tonight."
Gu Fang suddenly realized something and stopped scrolling. "Oh, that's it."
"What do you mean by just this?!" Chen Jingyuan scratched his head. "Xiao Gu, you said you had a partner, but who knows if this partner—ah, he can't really be an Alpha, right? Can't he really be?"
Gu Fang hummed, sat down at the table to finish his pre for next Monday, and said nonchalantly, "It's true. What's wrong?"
Chen Jingyuan choked and sighed, "You're too honest, kid. Doesn't this amount to being public? What if some old-fashioned person who's adamantly against AA relationships scolds you on the forum, or something fanatical comes to your door and sends you razor blades?"
"Your imagination is too wild." Gu Fang reluctantly moved the mouse, the screen's fluorescent light reflected in his eyes. "That's not true. What era is this now?"
Chen Jingyuan sincerely placed one hand on the table next to him and said, "Xiao Gu, you are too young. Don't you know that perversion never goes out of style?"
Zhang Chuhe nodded at his desk: "It's hard to disagree."
Meng Qi took a moment to raise a hand from his switch and said, "If any pervert dares to come and bully our little Gu, I'll kill him!"
"This fighting and killing thing is too violent." Chen Jingyuan shook his head in a daze and turned on his computer at his desk. "No, I have to keep an eye on the forum. If anyone posts something indiscriminately, I'll report it immediately!"
Gu Fang said helplessly: "I really don't care, you guys go and do your own thing."
Chen Jingyuan snorted, not knowing whether he heard it or not.
As it turned out, the dormitory's worries were unfounded. Xiao Chen spent the entire night watching the forums. Aside from the occasional sarcastic comment, most people were friendly. However, most people were still heartbroken over the fact that their school's most popular student had been taken advantage of by someone from another school.
However, Xiao Chen accidentally clicked on the website of the fan zone, and after reading it overnight, he was shocked by their speed of producing content.
Gu Fang never paid much attention to the forum commotion, as long as it didn't spill over into reality. On the following Saturday, he still woke up early, packed breakfast from the cafeteria, and followed his familiar route from the previous night to wait for someone downstairs at Lu Si's dormitory.
He came a little early. When Lu Si came downstairs, he saw him and took out his cell phone to check the time in surprise.
It's only 7 o'clock now.
"Why are you up so early?" Lu Si came to him and looked at his face carefully.
Although he was very casual in public last night, he couldn't help but keep an eye on the Shoumei Forum when he lay in bed. He didn't fall asleep peacefully until he reported those guys who made sarcastic remarks. However, he still got up later than usual.
He was a little worried that Gu Fang didn't sleep well last night because of the impact of this incident.
But obviously his worries were unnecessary.
Gu Fang looks energetic and has a rosy complexion. He looks like a well-behaved child who goes to bed early and gets up early, and has a healthy schedule.
Raising the breakfast in his hand, Gu Fang explained, "I'm used to getting up at this time. I brought breakfast. Do you want to eat in your school cafeteria?"
There were no classes on Saturday, and even at Jingda, a university packed with top students, the cafeteria was still sparsely populated at this hour. They found a secluded spot and divided up the breakfast Gu Fang had brought.
When we were leaving the cafeteria, we met the professor who was carrying a lunch bucket to get his breakfast. He squinted his presbyopic eyes and called out to them, "Xiaolu?"
Lu Si explained a few words to Gu Fang and went to greet him: "Teacher Yan, what can I do for you?"
Professor Yan looked at Gu Fang seriously, then patted Lu Si's shoulder and said, "I won't talk to you today. Come to my office next Monday to discuss this semester's competition. Spend time with your partner. Young people should relax on the weekend."
Lu Si looked calm on the surface, but his ears were already slightly red under his hair.
The fastest way to get from Jingda University to the Military Region General Hospital is to exit from the South Gate, take Metro Line 4, and then transfer to Line 2 to reach the hospital's inpatient department.
Lu Si had walked this road alone many times, but this was the only time he had someone accompany him.
Through the light reflected from the car door, Lu Si looked at Gu Fang in the glass, who was holding a sketchbook and a pen. He raised his lips slightly, and a barely perceptible smile flashed across his eyes.
It was a strange, peaceful feeling. Even though I was simply looking at the other person, I felt a sense of fulfillment that filled my restless heart. Even among the swarming crowd, I felt at peace and didn't lose my way.
The subway exit is across from the inpatient department. Beneath a century-old sycamore tree stands a bakery, the air thick with the sweet aroma of bread and butter.
Lu Si stopped in front of the bakery and asked, "Would you like to buy some? Their bakery tastes great."
Gu Fang also smelled the sweet and tempting aroma and nodded. They weighed out a little bit of each kind of snack. Gu Fang asked again, "Do you want to bring some for Lu Qi? Can she eat it?"
The shopkeeper turned around to weigh the food. While no one was watching, Lu Si touched his thin earlobe and lowered his voice: "You can give her a taste, the rest is yours."
Gu Fang felt his ears tingle from the incoming aroma, just as crispy and sweet as the butterfly cakes in this shop. He dodged uncomfortably, then forced himself to hold it in. He glanced at the fruit shop next door and whispered, "Can I bring her a fruit basket?"
Lu Si knew that he would be worried if he didn't bring anything, so he said, "It's up to you."
I brought the fruit basket to Lu Qi's floor. As soon as I got out of the elevator, I met Xie Qinghe waiting for the elevator with a lunch box, as if he was going downstairs.
Gu Fang fell silent. Lu Si, holding a fruit basket in one hand and holding his hand in the other, greeted Xie Qinghe, "Dad, are you coming downstairs?"
Xie Qinghe's expression was indifferent. He glanced at their holding hands, then at Gu Fang, and quickly looked away. He nodded, "You guys go sit down. Xiaoqi is still awake. Shall I go to the cafeteria and bring you lunch?"
"No need," Lu Si said, "We'll go out to eat later."
"Yeah." Xie Qinghe said nothing more, crossed paths with them, and got on the elevator.
Only after the elevator door closed behind him did Gu Fang loosen his grip on Lu Si's hand. His palms were already covered with a thin layer of sweat. He stared blankly at Lu Si: "Should I have said hello just now?"
"Why should I say hello?" Lu Si asked calmly, taking out a wet tissue to wipe his palms. "He didn't call you, did he?"
Gu Fang's beautiful blue eyes were filled with hesitation: "But he is the elder..."
"Being an elder isn't a reason for him to ignore you." Lu Si said calmly. After thinking for a moment, he explained a few more words, fearing that he might overthink it. "My dad...is just like that. He doesn't really like to smile, and he's not a gentle person. He's just trying his best to show his concern for you."
"I heard it." Gu Fang smiled and curved his eyebrows, "That's why I regret not saying hello to him."
"No need," Lu Si frowned, not wanting to see Gu Fang suffer any injustice. "Next time he greets you, you can yell back."
Gu Fangyang rubbed his brow with his hand and coaxed him in a gentle voice: "Smile, Brother Lu Si, you're going to see Lu Qi soon."
Lu Qi's narrow and sharp eyebrows gradually relaxed, and a hint of smile appeared under his slender, jade-white fingertips.
In the ward, Lu Qi was indeed awake, with cartoons playing on the TV. Her eyes were wide open, yet somehow seemed empty, and the slight movement of her ears showed that she was listening intently.
"I'm here." Lu Si put the fruit basket and snacks on the table and reminded them.
Lu Qi recognized two different footsteps and was about to ask when a pair of warm hands rested on the back of her hands. A gentle and pleasant voice came over: "Is the cartoon good?"
Lu Qi was stunned. He curled his fingertips and touched the unfamiliar fingertips. His tone was uncertain: "...Gu Fang?"
"The nurse played the cartoon." Lu Si expertly cleaned the fruit knife and picked up an apple to peel it. "The background sound and dubbing of cartoons are richer than those of TV dramas, and the plot is simple, so it's not difficult to understand."
"I'm blind," Lu Qi muttered dissatisfiedly, "I'm not stupid because of a collision."
"You should tell this to the nurse." Lu Si said in a cold tone.
"As expected, you are the only one who can tolerate someone like my brother." Lu Qi patted Gu Fang's hand earnestly, like an old senior giving earnest advice to a lost lamb.
Lu Si peeled the apple and handed it to Gu Fang without any pressure: "Let's eat it."
"Fang Fang doesn't want to eat it," Lu Qi took the apple that Gu Fang handed over, feeling at ease, "Let me eat it."
Lu Si raised his eyebrows casually, then cut the second one.
After peeling the fruit and handing it to Gu Fang, Lu Si went into the bathroom to rinse the fruit knife. Lu Qi quietly squeezed Gu Fang's hand and lowered his voice: "Don't separate again in the future. You must be good to each other. Otherwise, my brother will cry secretly again. It's so unlike him."
Gu Fang was stunned for a moment, his eyes suddenly filled with emotions, and his voice became hoarse: "You... have seen it?"
Lu Qi's eyelashes drooped slightly, his expression looked calm, and he blinked slightly: "I guessed it, listening to his voice. But he was always standing outside my door in a daze during that time. Did he think I didn't know?"
At this time, Lu Si walked out of the bathroom and raised an eyebrow in confusion: "What don't you know?"
"——I don't know what your plans are for the 11th." Lu Qi said in a bad tone, "My surgery will not be until the end of October. There is no need for you to come to me every day during this period, right?"
She paused slightly, "How about we find a place to relax with Gu Fang? I'm getting annoyed seeing you all the time during the holidays."
Lu Si lowered his eyes and remained silent for a moment. He tapped her head with his finger and scolded her softly, "You little brat."
