Chapter 38 Sleeping in a Different Place

Chapter 38 Sleeping in a Different Place

Lunch break was approaching, and Lin Yiluo tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep.

Zhixia and Zhiqiu watched anxiously from the sidelines.

"Miss, how about I light some calming incense for you?"

The girl lying in bed didn't agree; if she lit that, she would sleep for a long time.

Her eyes were slowly closed, and she began to drift off to sleep. After an unknown amount of time, the two men, seeing that their young mistress was no longer moving, left the room.

Actually, the little one lying in bed wasn't asleep yet; he was still trying to fall asleep. Without his doll's company, it was really hard for him to sleep.

It wasn't until Zhixia and Zhiqiu came to wake her up that she realized she hadn't slept all afternoon. She stared helplessly at what was in front of her, even though she was very sleepy.

Lin Yilu blinked her big eyes, which still looked a little sleepy.

"Miss, you haven't been asleep all this time, have you?"

"Um."

"Ah! Let's find a doctor to take a look at the young lady."

"No need, Zhixia, I'm hungry."

Zhi Xia: "…………" She knew it.

Fortunately, Zhixia had a backup plan.

"Then let's go have a nutritious meal, Miss. I've saved some for you, just in case you get hungry this afternoon."

The girl was unhappy.

"Zhixia, the nutritious meals can only be eaten at designated times. Right now, it's time for afternoon tea."

Zhi Xia couldn't argue with her.

"What would you like to eat, Miss?"

"Let's have potato chips, I want the tomato flavor."

"Alright, but Miss should eat less. I'll go pour you some milk."

...The warm yellow light spilled over the dining table.

Lin Yilu slumped in her dining chair, her head drooping, her spoon moving listlessly in her bowl, the carefully prepared nutritious meal on her plate failing to arouse her interest in the slightest.

Mo Ziyuan gently brushed a strand of her hair back, his voice as sweet as honey: "Yi Luo, be good, eat your food."

The girl sitting at the table looked listless.

Mo Ziyuan: "Yi Luo, be good and eat your food properly."

"Okay," Lin Yiluo mumbled, her voice trailing off like a deflated balloon.

Zhi Xia stood to the side, very anxious. How could he not eat meals every day and only eat snacks? She would definitely tell Mo Shao tonight.

...The dark curtains filtered the moonlight into fine silver sand, filling Mo Ziyuan's study.

The man, dressed in plain silk pajamas, leaned back in a wooden chair, his long, slender fingers tapping the table repeatedly.

"What's wrong with Ilo today?"

Zhi Xia immediately spoke up, but she didn't mean to complain. She was doing it for the young lady's own good, since only the young master could keep the young lady in check in this family.

"Miss doesn't seem to have had a good nap at noon."

Is it because of the doll?

"Neither of us is quite sure."

"what else."

"Miss ate a lot of snacks this afternoon." Zhixia swallowed hard.

"snack?"

"Yes, I ate two bags of potato chips, one bag of chocolate, and half a bag of cookies..."

"Didn't she have lunch?" Mo Ziyuan frowned, his thin lips pressed into a cold, hard line.

“Miss seems to… not like nutritional meals.” Zhi Xia carefully observed the other person’s expression.

A brief silence fell over the study, broken only by the clear ticking of the grandfather clock. After a while, Mo Ziyuan raised his hand and rubbed his temples.

“Starting tomorrow, her only snacks will be beef jerky. Let her nibble on it slowly.” He paused, a barely perceptible tenderness flashing in his eyes.

"Tell the kitchen that even the nutritious meals need to taste good. If they can't make them, then we'll have to find a different team."

"Yes, young master."

…………

Lin Yiluo had just been pampered, showered, and had body lotion applied when she rolled onto the bed. She instinctively looked for the doll on the bed, but it was no longer there.

She paused for a moment, then casually tossed her phone aside and pulled the blanket over her head.

Moonlight streamed through the gauze curtains and climbed onto the corners of her reddened eyes. Lin Yiluo tossed and turned, counting sheep for the third time, her wrist beads burning from being rubbed, yet she still couldn't fall asleep.

Suddenly, she threw off the covers and jumped off the bed barefoot. Her skirt swept across the cold floor, making a soft rustling sound in the silence.

The man seemed to have known the girl was coming and had taken care of his work well in advance.

"Tap tap~ tap tap~" The knocking sounded rhythmically.

"Brother, open the door, it's me."

Mo Ziyuan felt happy just thinking about the girls outside.

"Come in."

The girl, wearing pink pajamas, walked towards him step by step, and he pretended not to know anything.

"Why are you here, Yiluo? Why aren't you asleep?" The man's voice, though knowing the answer, was laced with laughter. She didn't notice, and instead knelt on tiptoe by the bed, clasping her hands together in a devout prayer.

"What did Baby Yiluo wish for?" Mo Ziyuan chuckled softly as he watched her eyelashes flutter.

"I want my doll, brother. Please ask God if I can have that doll."

The man seemed dissatisfied, frowning as he spoke.

"These were all given to your brother, how can you take them back?"

"But Brother Ziyuan, I won't be able to sleep without this."

"But your brother has given you his most precious things, so you have to learn to adapt, baby Yiluo. But since you made a wish, I'll ask him for you!"

A gentle ripple appeared in the man's eyes. He pretended to be troubled and closed his eyes to "ask the gods." When he opened his eyes again, his tone was full of regret: "God said this is a gift exchanged, and it can't be returned. Why don't you go and hug another doll?"

"But I can only fall asleep when I'm holding this."

Mo Ziyuan was certainly aware of this.

"Then what should we do?"

The pretty girl standing beside the bed stared at the doll peeking out from his arms, then stole glances at the large bed covered with light gray sheets. Suddenly, she tilted her head and exclaimed, "Brother Ziyuan, your bed is so big!" Her voice trailed off, like a spoiled kitten gently scratching at one's heart with its tail.

"Brother's bed is really big, would you like to bring it up and try it out?"

Lin Yilu tilted her head back, her rosy lips slightly upturned.

"Okay, okay."

She immediately tiptoed to the bed, then very naturally pulled up the covers and slipped inside.

"This bed is so comfortable, even more comfortable than my bed."

Does baby Ilo like this bed?

"Of course I like it." She not only liked the bed, but also the dolls on it.

"Then what should we do?" The man frowned deliberately, but couldn't hide the smile in his eyes.

Lin Yiluo said directly.

"Should I come to my brother's place too?"

Mo Ziyuan feigned surprise.

"Baby Ilo wants to lie here too..."

Lin Yiluo had no idea about the strict separation between men and women. She only sensed the leeway in his tone and hurriedly stepped forward.

"Can I? I want to be here so I can protect Brother Ziyuan."

The man sitting on the bed pretended to reluctantly agree.

"Alright, then you can stay here, but I have one condition."

"What are the conditions?"

"You're not allowed to tell your brother about you sleeping here."

Lin Yiluo started to think. Why couldn't she tell her brother? Her brother always told her that she had to tell him everything. But Ziyuan must have his reasons for not letting her tell him. Ziyuan was probably afraid that her brother would be jealous.

After all, she had been staying at Brother Ziyuan's place every night, but Brother Yi'an had never stayed there.

"Okay, I definitely won't tell my brother."

"Oh well."

Lin Yiluo closed her eyes and tried to sleep, but she suddenly remembered her small pillow in her room.

"Wait a minute, Brother Yuan, I'll go get the pillow."

"Brother Ziyuan has some here, use yours."

"What about the blanket?"

Before Mo Ziyuan could speak, Lin Yiluo continued.

“Brother Ziyuan’s blanket is so big, we can share it.”
