Chapter 1 Song Luo

In the dark and damp cave, huge bats in human form scurried across the land, seemingly surveying their territory without any taboos.

Occasionally, sunlight shines from outside, bringing a little light to this damp cave.

However, this light only exists at the entrance of the cave, while the depths are still dark, cold and damp.

“Huh~Huh~”

The sound of gentle breathing came from behind a huge rock at the fork of the cave. A gentle girl in a white training top was hiding her graceful body behind the rock.

The girl held a long, black sword in her hand, which shone with a cold light, and there were traces of blood on the blade.

This Mo Dao is half a head taller than the girl, but it looks unusually soft, as if it combines the girl's gentleness from the south of the Yangtze River with the murderousness of the Mo Dao, without any sign of incongruity.

The girl just stood there motionless, and after about ten seconds she moved from behind the boulder.

The girl rolled over and rolled to another area, landing right behind the bat. A light blue light suddenly flashed around her, and some indescribable energy seemed to appear on the blade.

Just when the girl was full of confidence and was about to kill the bat in front of her with one knife, dozens of sharp spikes suddenly shot out from somewhere, instantly piercing the girl's delicate body, and blood flowed all over the ground.

Following an unwilling groan, a line of bloody words silently appeared above the girl's head. As the words appeared, the whole world became dark. Time froze at this moment, and the bloody words grew larger and larger, gradually filling the entire desktop.

"The challenge failed."

"Victory and defeat are common in war. Please try again, hero."

"Warm Tips: Increasing hero levels, strengthening hero equipment, and improving hero bonds are the only way to clear the level."

“…”

"What kind of stupid game is this? There are so many elite monsters in a novice dungeon?"

Song Luo, sitting on the sofa, stared at his phone, which had gone gray. He was so angry that he threw the phone onto the sofa and said angrily, "No one would play this game!"

After resting on the sofa for a while, Song Luo held the mobile phone in his hand again, plugged in the data cable, and wrote something on a piece of paper on the coffee table.

This piece of paper was densely packed with information about the novice dungeon, such as 'a bat that must be killed instantly, otherwise it will continue to suck life and is impossible to kill', 'nothing to say, a cyclops with high health, high attack, and slow speed', 'a toad with explosive magic power and a skill casting time of 1.49 seconds to 2.26 seconds', and 'a deformed rat mother with four baby monsters. If they are not killed within 30 seconds, they will merge into a giant ratman'.

In the latest one, Song Luo filled in words like "spikes shot out from nowhere, it seems to be a new porcupine or hedgehog-like monster."

To be honest, Song Luo is not a "Souls-style" masochistic game player. On weekdays, Song Luo prefers some casual battle games, such as card drawing, stamp collecting, and Pokémon battle games. Occasionally, he will play MOBA and FPS shooting games, and he will buy a highly acclaimed 3A masterpiece to play after it is released.

Of course, compared to the difficult mode, Song Luo prefers the simpler one.

But this casual gaming time ended three hours ago.

After getting up early in the morning, Song Luo brushed his teeth, washed his face and cleaned up very self-disciplined. Since it was the weekend, Song Luo did not have any work arrangements and was purely relaxing today.

It was not until after breakfast that Song Luo casually opened his mobile phone and instantly found an unfamiliar software among a number of familiar apps.

A game called "Be a Hero and Maintain World Peace" suddenly appeared on Song Luo's mobile phone, which naturally aroused Song Luo's curiosity.

After checking the balance of the payment software, Song Luo did not find any signs of hacker intrusion. It seemed that there was only one extra game on the entire phone.

Song Luo felt very curious: There couldn't be a hacker who was so bored that he would hack into his phone just to recommend a game he had never heard of to him, right?

Besides, I haven't opened any illegal websites like 'Casino Royale is Online' recently, so how could my phone be hacked?

After some contemplation, Song Luo made a conclusion: maybe he downloaded the game by mistake while watching videos before going to bed last night.

This kind of thing happens often, but since he was free anyway, Song Luo opened the game with the mentality of giving it a try.

And then... Song Luo became addicted.

The visual quality, the smooth operation... If he hadn't said it, Song Luo would have thought he was watching a movie.

Following the simple beginner guide, Song Luo learned that this was a role-playing (RPG) type card drawing game, and the map looked like an open world.

However, after entering the game, the game system only has three systems: "Hero Recruitment", "Wandering Merchant", and "Hero Promotion".

Needless to say, "Hero Recruitment" is naturally a traditional card drawing mode. Song Luo took a look and found that a hero fragment would appear in ten consecutive draws. The probability of drawing a hero in a single draw is 0.06%, and one hero is guaranteed to appear in one hundred draws.

Song Luo was stunned at that time. What kind of torturous lottery probability was this?

The "Wandering Merchant" system is just a skin shop that sells some props that Song Luo doesn't know what they are: new players don't understand shit.

In "Hero Ascension", there is only one lonely protagonist.

It’s strange to say, this game actually defaults to a protagonist and doesn’t provide any face-shaping system, and how do you describe the protagonist’s appearance... It’s not that Song Luo is exaggerating, Song Luo always feels that this protagonist is a little familiar.
