"IF Childhood Sweethearts" Thank you, Cat God.
As it turns out.
How can you bring a cat to work?
How can you work while having a cat?!
After landing at a hotel under the Yan Group, Jiang Yingxu watched the kitten dart around the room with its little paws, sniffing around its patrol territory with its head tilted back, and then looked at the meeting schedule he had received on his phone.
He sighed silently.
After Xiang Shimiao expressed her desire not to go out.
The kitten slapped his lips with its paw, effectively silencing him, and lectured him in a mature and authoritative tone, "Go to work, and when you come back you can go out and play with me."
Jiang Yingxu lowered his long eyelashes, his eyebrows and eyes were clear and calm, but his low and cold tone carried a sense of grievance.
Aren't you coming with me?
The kitten saw right through it: "If I stay with you, you'll be even less able to concentrate on your work."
Without his cat, the wild man had no choice but to go out alone and take a car to the branch office.
The branch office welcomed a new leader who was parachuted in from outside.
Despite his young age, he handled matters with an unusually cold and sharp style. He ignored the meticulously decorated office and the lavish lunch invitation. The first thing he did upon arrival was to summon the middle and senior management to the conference room.
There were no pleasantries or formalities; the meeting started immediately.
Unexpectedly swift and decisive.
The employees, who had heard some rumors, stayed in the break room, pretending to get water and make coffee while whispering gossips in hushed tones.
"...It's the Crown Prince."
“I know an employee at headquarters. I asked her about it before, and she said that the Yan family handles matters in a calm and unhurried manner and does not put too much pressure on them.”
After he finished speaking, everyone was silent for a few seconds, then glanced at the large conference room with its doors tightly closed.
"The style... is really different."
"After all, he was raised as the heir from a young age. It is said that he only came of age this year. He must be eager to make a name for himself and take over the group as soon as possible."
"..."
Jiang Yingxu, who claims to be "eager to get started on his career," actually just wants to finish his work quickly so he can go back to spend time with his cat.
After several busy days at the branch office, the most crucial structural adjustments have finally come to an end.
Jiang Yingxu had some free time, so instead of going to the company, he drove Shi Miao to the most famous century-old shop in the area.
This shop specializes in making crispy candies and even rented the space next door to open a teahouse.
Upon entering, the air was filled with the sweet aroma of syrup mixed with melted and roasted nuts. After being led to a private room and seated, a waiter served fragrant jasmine tea.
A bite of sweet candy, a sip of refreshing floral tea.
Shi Miao's favorite flavor was peanut, which tasted especially delicious. She even fed half of the chewed candy to Jiang Yingxu's lips.
"Try it."
Behind the half-circle notch of the candy is a pair of bright, expectant eyes.
Jiang Yingxu tilted his head slightly, parted his thin lips, and bit the half-piece of candy. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, his wet, hot tongue flicked out and licked away the few crumbs from her fingertips.
A wet trail was left on the fingertip.
Shi Miao withdrew her fingers, wrinkled her nose, and glared at him accusingly.
What are you doing?
Seducing a cat?
This Xiao Jiang is really bold! He's just relying on the fact that he's out in public and the cat can't do anything to him!
A smile appeared in Jiang Yingxu's eyes. He swallowed the candy in his mouth as if nothing had happened and said slowly, "It's a bit too sweet."
He was talking about brittle.
But their gazes were fixed straight on them.
Shi Miao pressed her slightly warm fingertips against her palm, as if reminded by this intimate gesture, and couldn't help but recall another scene where this sentence had occurred.
A suite with only one bedroom and one bed.
Close, intertwined limbs, tender kisses on lips, and glistening skin nestled between fingers.
Are all young couples in the throes of new love like this?
One looked into the other's eyes, the other moved closer.
Or perhaps it's simply staying in one space, just breathing.
Jiang Yingxu would suddenly lean over, snatch the phone from her hand, forcefully dominate her field of vision, and his warm lips would land on her cheek and the corner of her mouth.
Shi Miao was about to push his face.
She would also have her hands held, her fingertips sucked, and her delicate palms kissed.
She's an incredibly clingy person who never gets tired of being with you.
Therefore, with her pale lips moving downwards, her fingertips applied slight pressure to separate and twist the small, bright red mole, before she leaned in to kiss and lick it.
It doesn't seem that strange.
Jiang Yingxu, with a cold and serious expression on his face, knelt beside Zhang Qingqing's legs and repeated in a calm tone that he was going to serve her.
But Shi Miao couldn't stand it when he kicked her.
He remained unmoved, his eyelashes dampened, and laughed in a hoarse voice.
She said, "It's so sweet."
I don't know where this person gets so much energy.
I'm busy with work during the day.
She can still be busy when she gets back in the evening.
"..."
Shi Miao picked up the celadon teacup, took a sip of the fragrant jasmine tea, and feigned composure, "Is it sweet?"
Cats are born rebellious.
Her face was serious, and her tone was drawn out.
"Not as sweet as you."
Jiang Yingxu: ".
Why.
What should I do if I have a cat that really loves these kinds of sweet nothings?
Of course, he smiled helplessly on the surface, but inside he was thrilled by her cuteness and couldn't wait to go over and kiss her.
Before leaving, the two bought several gift boxes of crispy candy at the counter, intending to take them back to the capital to share with their families and close friends.
The jasmine tea at the teahouse smelled quite good.
Shi Miao likes it.
So I bought a few more cans.
As Shi Miao was paying, she heard people passing by behind her, discussing a small kite-making shop in a nearby alley.
I'm interested in this too!
After throwing the gift box into the trunk.
Shi Miao then pulled Jiang Yingxu into the alley, and after circling around, they saw the kite shop with its storefront set up.
An elderly woman wearing reading glasses sat behind the counter, skillfully polishing bamboo ribs.
Hearing footsteps, she didn't even look up, and said slowly, "The kites that have been made are all displayed on that wall. Just take the one you want, or you can customize a design."
Shi Miao glanced at the kites on the wall—the ones with swallows, butterflies, pumpkins, and lobsters—before looking away without interest. She leaned against the counter and asked with great interest, "Can you customize a cat design?"
Jiang Yingxu had expected this, so he took out the most majestic photo of the calico cat from his phone's album and showed it to the old lady behind the counter.
The other person adjusted their reading glasses, squinted at the person for a moment, and then nodded, saying, "It can be done."
She smiled broadly.
"But we make them by hand, so it depends a lot on the feel of the work. We can't guarantee that we can completely capture the essence of this big fat cat."
Shi Miao: "?"
Shi Miao: "??"
Shi Miao: "What big fat cat!"
Cats just have long fur!!!
After Jiang Yingxu comforted her by holding her hand and showed her a picture of the kitten that had fallen into the water and looked thin, the old lady apologized with embarrassment.
"I thought it was because she was fat."
"But you take good care of your cat. Its fur is fluffy and its tail is so big, just like a big squirrel."
"She looks so elegant and beautiful."
Seeing such sincere praise, Shi Miao still placed an order.
The construction period is three days.
When she came to pick it up again, the old lady carefully took out a finely crafted calico cat kite from the back room. The bamboo frame was polished smooth, and the painted patterns were lively and delicate.
No wonder it's such a highly praised old shop!
The old lady also enthusiastically recommended a place.
“Our riverside park in Shancheng has a particularly spacious lawn, and there are no trees or high-voltage power lines nearby, so it’s perfect for flying kites.”
"Today is sunny and windy, a perfect day for flying kites."
So, I took the kite and headed to the riverside park that the old lady had mentioned.
Shi Miao sat in the passenger seat, holding the kite and examining it closely, even shaking the colorful paper cat tail hanging below.
"It's really quite beautiful."
The Cat King gave a satisfied review.
"It captures a glimpse of my arrogant and unruly nature."
Jiang Yingxu, with one hand on the steering wheel, glanced over at the intersection during a break in the red light.
Slender white fingers held a round cat kite.
All I can see is cuteness.
But he nodded in agreement without hesitation.
"He has the air of a cat king."
Shi Miao curled her lips smugly, already looking forward to seeing the cat's dashing figure as it flew into the sky.
The traffic light at the intersection turned green.
Just as Jiang Yingxu was about to step on the gas, he suddenly heard a thud. Shi Miao had lost her grip on the spool connected to the kite line and it rolled down her thigh and landed at his feet.
"How did it fall?"
She muttered to herself as she bent down and reached out, her fingertips hooking onto the handle of the spool, which she then rubbed as she picked it up again.
It was just a small accident.
It didn't take more than a few seconds.
Just as she sat back down and the car behind her honked its horn impatiently.
A car rushing through a yellow light sped out of the intersection and crashed into the guardrail on the opposite lane at an extremely high, out-of-control speed, making a deafening roar.
The front of the car was embedded hard in the guardrail, and broken parts were scattered everywhere, startling passing vehicles at the intersection, causing them to slow down and come to a stop.
Bad luck! I lost control of my speed and direction and crashed into the guardrail.
Luckily, there was a police car waiting at a red light on the side of the road. Almost the instant the accident happened, three or four police officers got out of the car, broke the window, and pulled out an unconscious driver from the distorted window.
Shi Miao, clutching the spool, blinked in surprise. Only after Jiang Yingxu smoothly started the vehicle and drove past the intersection did she pat her chest in relief.
"That was close, they almost hit us."
Seeing Jiang Yingxu's furrowed brows and taut profile, it was clear that he was also somewhat frightened.
Shi Miao deliberately curved her lips into a smile, gently nudged him with her elbow, and said in a light tone, "Luckily I dropped something and didn't start moving right away. Aren't you going to thank me?"
Jiang Yingxu remained relaxed and readily agreed with his suggestions.
"Thank you, King Cat."
He paused for a moment.
Bathed in the bright sunlight, she smiled and whispered.
"Thank you for blessing my cat god."
The cat goddess responded to her most devout followers.
"You're welcome!"
Her eyes crinkled into a smile as she solemnly made her promise.
"I will always protect you."
"Now, it's time to fly a kite!"
