Outside the operating room

Outside the operating room

A fast-paced sound hit the eardrum, wrapped in the conversations of strangers, covered with the hurried footsteps of pedestrians, and mixed with the sound of a cart's wheels rolling over the ground. It seemed that there were glass bottles and jars on the cart, gently shaking and bumping. A series of sounds came from far away, stinging Qin Shi's auditory nerves and forcing her to slowly open her eyes.

"I'm... in the hospital?"

Qin Shi struggled to recall that she had been drinking with her best friend Jian Qing yesterday.

Jian Qing, the daughter of the Jianyi Group, was about to get married, and yesterday was a small bachelorette party. A few girls were on the rooftop of the Jianyi Group building. They sang and danced for a long time, ogled their favorite male celebrities, laughed and played, and... drank the most alcohol of their lives.

I drank too much and don't remember what happened afterwards.

Qin Shi slowly raised her eyes, silently thinking to herself that this time I really risked my life to accompany a gentleman. If Jian Qing knew that he came to the hospital just to drink with her, he would be so moved that he would cry bitterly and serve him delicious food and drinks in the ward.

Suddenly, Qin Shi felt something was wrong. Where was Jian Qing? She was lying there with water hanging on her leg, in such a miserable state. Where did this woman Jian Qing go?

"Sister Shishi, you finally woke up." Qin Shi heard an urgent voice, even with a crying tone. She turned her head and saw that it was Jian Qing's assistant Xiaolin.

Without waiting for Qin Shi to ask, Xiao Lin continued, "Our President Jian is in the intensive care unit. You should go and see him."

It was a bit too sudden, but Qin Shi had no time to be surprised or sad. She immediately pulled out the infusion tube from her arm and rushed to the intensive care unit.

Worried, anxious, her heart pounding, she hurried around the corner of the hospital and bumped into a woman. The woman groaned in pain and was immediately embraced by a familiar voice and figure.

"I don't see any pregnant women!" The man was about to lose his temper, but suddenly retracted his anger. Qin Shi looked up and was even more surprised. The man in front of her was Chen Cheng, the fiancé of her best friend Jian Qing. Then who was the person he was hugging?

Perhaps seeing Qin Shi's confusion, Chen Cheng immediately said that this was his cousin, who was having a prenatal check-up in the same hospital and came to see Jian Qing on the way.

"You guys were too crazy yesterday. You drank so much and walked on the road to act crazy. You were hit by an oncoming car. You were lucky that your injuries were not serious, but Qingqing's were very serious." Chen Cheng told Qin Shi what had happened in the past.

Qin Shi's head was still swollen, perhaps because the alcohol had not worn off yet, but she vaguely remembered that Jian Qing had always been allergic to alcohol. Yesterday, she stopped her best friend from drinking the juice, and Jian Qing clearly would not get drunk, let alone act crazy.

During the conversation, the doctor came out of the intensive care unit.

"Which family member of the patient needs surgery? Please sign this."

The only family member present was Chen Cheng. Qin Shi looked at Chen Cheng and motioned for him to sign.

"I'm his boyfriend, not a family member, so I can't sign," Chen Cheng said to Qin Shi. He also addressed this to the doctors present.

"You have obtained the marriage certificate. Although you haven't held a wedding, you are already legally husband and wife." Qin Shi thought Chen Cheng didn't understand, so she quickly explained it to him.

Chen Cheng's expression, however, did not look like he was suddenly enlightened. Instead, it was a snarky expression that said, "You know a lot, you shouldn't say too much, and it's useless to say anything."

Qin Shi was worried that the doctor wouldn't believe her, so she anxiously flipped through her WeChat Moments and found Jian Qing's WeChat to show the doctor.

The top post prominently displayed a photo of Jian Qing and Chen Cheng's marriage certificate. In the photo, the girl had a gentle smile, and the boy was sunny and handsome, making anyone sigh that they were a match made in heaven.

The doctor breathed a sigh of relief and said, "That's good. The patient's condition is not very optimistic. The informed consent form needs to be signed by the family. Sir, please sign it quickly."

Chen Cheng remained unmoved.

"Chen Cheng, human life is at stake, please sign it quickly." Seeing that the man did not respond, Qin Shi became anxious. She wanted to grab the pen and sign it for him.

Chen's cousin interrupted and asked, "Doctor, what is the probability that the patient will wake up after the operation?"

"Fifty percent," the doctor replied. "This girl is so young and so pitiful. We will definitely do our best to save her." As he spoke, he glanced at the intensive care unit and then at Chen Cheng, his eyes seeming to urge him.

"What if I don't have surgery?" The man still had no intention of signing and chatted slowly with the doctor.

The doctor was obviously stunned by the question. He had been in the profession for many years and seemed to have never encountered such a cold-blooded husband.

"If you don't have surgery, you should prepare for the worst."

The attending physician was almost unable to suppress his anger, but years of training allowed him to restrain himself. He looked at the man in front of him with disdain. The man was dressed exquisitely and had a calm expression, even, unnaturally calm.

Qin Shi, on the other hand, had tears in her eyes from grief.

She grabbed Chen Cheng by the collar and pushed him against the wall, cursing, "That's Jian Qing in there! She broke up with her family to help you and your company! And you're just treating her like this, leaving her like that!"

A trace of sadness flashed across Chen Cheng's face, just a trace, and then he turned his head and looked gently at his cousin beside him.

The cousin seemed to respond to him and said softly, "Miss Qin, some things cannot be bought with money, like feelings." After that, she took Chen Cheng's hand without hesitation and interlocked their fingers.

"So, what does Jian Qing want from him? To make him bankrupt? To make him have an unclear relationship with your cousin?" Qin Shi was also angry at this so-called cousin.

"Qin Shi, don't go too far! Jian Qing was with you yesterday. Who knows what you did? Now she is still in critical condition. You are responsible for all this!" Chen Cheng blamed Qin Shi in turn.

"Mr. Chen, the lawyers and the people from the crematorium have arrived." Chen Cheng's assistant came running to report.

Hearing the word "crematorium", everyone around was shocked.

Qin Shi's eyes welled up with tears as she suddenly realized that the boy in front of her had no intention of letting Jian Qing live. Moreover, the relationship between this so-called cousin of the Chen family and Chen Cheng was more like that of a couple.

Even as soon as Jian Qing died, he would be taken away and burned to ashes.

Qin Shi took a deep breath and slowly regained her composure. She secretly encouraged herself, thinking that the more times like this happened, the more she couldn't lose her composure.

Why did Chen Cheng react like this?

Money, yes, Chen Cheng is short of money. As long as something happens to Jian Qing, all the property will be inherited by him.

"Chen Cheng, you know, I also have shares in Jianyi Group. If you sign, I will give all the shares to you." Qin Shi thought that in order to stabilize Chen Cheng, she had to exchange interests.

Sure enough, Chen Cheng and the woman beside him could hardly conceal their joy.

"Call the lawyer over and transfer the equity now." Chen Cheng said to his assistant.

Qin Shi only realized then that Chen Cheng had been waiting for her to fall into his trap.

She didn't care about so many things, but just kept urging Chen Cheng to sign quickly so as not to delay Jian Qing's rescue.

But Chen Chengcheng looked at Qin Shi sarcastically, as if he was enjoying a good show, and remained unmoved.

A bald lawyer was typing the equity transfer agreement word by word in the hospital waiting room.

Before the agreement was drafted, the door of the intensive care unit slowly opened and several people in white coats walked out.

The leading doctor looked solemn and said, "Please accept my condolences. We have done our best."

When Chen Cheng heard this, he breathed a sigh of relief, made a gesture to the staff at the crematorium, and left with the woman beside him without looking back.

Qin Shi rushed into the ward and saw Jian Qing covered in scars.

In the end, Jian Qing was unable to make it to the surgery.

Her age remains at 25.

The girl lay quietly on the hospital bed, and everything in this world had nothing to do with her anymore.

"Ms. Qin, please make way. We are the staff of the crematorium. We are taking Miss Jian to be cremated as requested by Mr. Chen."

Qin Shi shouted at these people to get out.

Although the crematorium staff felt bad, they had to try to pull Jian Qing away out of their own accord.

However, Qin Shi held Jian Qing tightly and refused to let go.

As she pulled, she felt Jian Qing's bracelet was almost embedded in her arm.

"Ning!"

With a crisp metallic sound, Jian Qing's bracelet broke.

At the same time, the instruments in the ward began to light up!

On the screen, the horizontal line of the heart rate monitor began to turn into a jumping curve!

"He's pretending to be dead!"

The staff at the crematorium had never seen such a situation before. They were so scared that they almost cried. They backed away and rushed out of the ward.

However, Qin Shi was overwhelmed by this great joy and held Jian Qing's hand tightly.

Jian Qing is resurrected!
