Chapter 124 Zhuang Mansion

I actually fell asleep in the slightly bumpy carriage and wrapped in the faint scent of ambergris.

It was not until I heard the noisy sounds of hawking and horses pulling carts that I opened my eyes. It was already dawn and the carriage was brightly lit.

I don’t know if Song Heng was still awake or woke up before me. I moved a little and heard his voice: “Awake?”

I nodded and rubbed my still blurry eyes: "Are we there yet?"

"Yeah," Song Heng responded, "We'll be there soon."

I reached out to pull the curtain, then immediately turned to look at him: "Can I open the curtain?"

"Of course," Song Heng seemed to be amused by my cautiousness. "It's not like anyone knows us."

"Shuang'er," Song Heng suddenly thought of something: "From now on, we will be an ordinary couple."

My heart suddenly skipped a beat, as if something exploded in my heart.

"My name is Wang Xingzhi, and I'm a businessman," he said, holding my hand. "You are my wife. Come with me on this trip south. Ah Fu and Ah Li are our entourage."

It turns out it was just a cover-up.

"Then what's my name?" I realized what was going on and laughed.

"What do you want to be called?" He smiled at me lovingly.

"My name is—King Mu?" I smiled slyly, "Your Majesty, will you call me King from now on?"

Song Heng frowned slightly, then laughed: "Don't make trouble, and don't call me Your Majesty."

I stuck out my tongue and said subconsciously, "Then let's go with Mu Shuang. Mu means wind and rain, and Shuang means wind, frost, rain and snow. It's quite artistic."

He seemed stunned for a moment, perhaps surprised by my rare knowledge, and then nodded: "Okay, I will continue to call you Shuang'er."

"Yeah!" I was really excited at the thought of hiding my identity and living in a strange place for a while. I opened the curtain, and the golden sunlight poured into the carriage. Outside the carriage was another prosperous and wealthy scene.

Soon, Ah Fu's voice was heard outside the carriage: "Master, we have arrived at the Zhuang Mansion."

Young Master—I didn’t react when I first heard it.

Song Heng responded and took my hand: "Let's go."

I still had no idea who I had gone to so much trouble to see, but now I was about to meet him. I licked my lips and said, "Master, do I need to prepare anything?"

He laughed again: "Shuang'er, you shouldn't call me Master."

Isn't that the point?

"You should call me husband." He stood beside the carriage, the warm yellow sunlight fell on him, and his tone was frank.

As I jumped out of the carriage, I whispered "Husband", and he responded with a smile.

He knew how happy I was when I lowered my head.

Song Heng must have sent someone to deliver a message or a letter. After Eunuch Afu stepped forward and said a few words, the guard at the door immediately went in to report, and then a woman with a kind face almost trotted out to greet them.

The woman seemed to be about to bow when she saw Song Heng, but Ah Fu quickly stopped her and said respectfully, "Madam Zhuang, this is my young master, and this is my wife."

Mrs. Zhuang was stunned, and when our eyes met, I could see the tears in her eyes sparkling in the sunlight.

What is the relationship between Madam Zhuang and Song Heng? Judging from their ages, Madam Zhuang and the Queen Mother are probably about the same age, and this house looks like a wealthy one. Could she be some distant relative of Song Heng?

Guard Li went to park the carriage accompanied by the steward of the Zhuang Mansion. Madam Zhuang walked beside Song Heng and me. I seemed to see that her clasped hands were still trembling slightly.

Mrs. Zhuang has a kind face and at first sight I felt that she was a very approachable person.

Song Heng spoke first: "Madam Zhuang, I wonder if Master Mu is in good health?"

Madam Zhuang? Master Mu?

What a coincidence.

I suddenly thought of my father and mother.

If I wasn't sure that my father was still dealing with Prime Minister Hua's faction in the court, I would really think that Song Heng was here to take me to see my parents.

"He—" Madam Zhuang paused. "Thank you for your concern, Master Wang. Just like before."

Song Heng lowered his eyes, and didn't seem to be in a very good mood.

I think this Mr. Mu should be the person that Song Heng went to such great lengths to meet. Maybe he is someone like Mr. Kong Ming in the Three Kingdoms or Jiang Taigong in the Romance of the Gods?

Madam Zhuang called the maid to prepare tea. Song Heng thanked her and asked, "Is it convenient for me to see Master Mu now?"

Madam Zhuang nodded and looked at me several times, "Of course you can."

I was wondering if it was inconvenient for me to meet him, but Song Heng held my hand tightly and said, "It's okay."

"Yes, yes," Zhuang responded quickly, "Miss Shuang and Miss Mu can see him, they can see him!"

Mrs. Zhuang did not ask a servant to lead the way for us, but led us to the backyard herself.

Mrs. Zhuang explained to us in a low voice as we walked along the road: "The master is still lying in bed. He should be able to hear us now. His right arm can move."

Is Mr. Mu sick?

Soon, Mrs. Zhuang pushed open a door and saw a clean and bright house with antique furnishings. The windows had been opened for a long time, and sunlight filled the house. She could also hear the singing of birds in the courtyard.

As we approached, we turned right, walked around a black bamboo screen, and saw a middle-aged man lying on the bed.

Mr. Mu's eyes were quietly closed, and he looked like he was sleeping peacefully.

I don’t know if it was because it was so quiet, but at that moment my heart instantly calmed down.

"Master, Master." Zhuang called softly, then bent down slightly and whispered a few words in Master Mu's ear.

After Mrs. Zhuang stepped back, I saw Mr. Mu open his eyes, his eyes bright and sharp.
