I stood up tremblingly. He looked at me standing there motionless and said to me in a calm tone, "I will not punish him now."
I nodded subconsciously. He had already taken off his golden dragon robe and slept on the inside of the bed. I usually went to bed first, so the inside was always my place. This was the first time he went to bed first.
I didn't care about the details; I just wanted Doctor Jiang's situation to be stable for now. I walked over and suddenly thought of something, so I turned to the closet and fetched a new quilt. Knowing it was just a casual act, I started to think about how to improve their acting. He must be uncomfortable with the two of them sharing the same quilt every day, with the air conditioning still in the room, so I had Xiao Cui wash a new set of quilts.
He frowned slightly when he saw me holding a new quilt. "What are you doing?" I explained to him proudly, "One quilt per person! Don't worry, Your Majesty. Xiao Cui and I said it's to prevent us from catching a cold. I'll fold the two quilts together in the morning and she won't notice anything."
"No need." He said coldly, "Turn off the lights and go to bed."
It seemed like he was just jealous of the heroine during the day and was in a bad mood, so he took it out on me and opposed everything. I was too lazy to argue with him, so I temporarily put the quilt on the bedside table, turned off the lights, and slept on the outside of the bed.
There was enough space for one person to sleep in between, which made me feel safe. Just as I was about to fall asleep, I suddenly heard him say in the dark: "If you're afraid of the cold wind coming in, sleep closer."
"I'm not cold." I was half asleep and half awake and didn't want to pay attention to him. Suddenly, I felt him move towards me, and the quilt in the middle slumped down because the distance between us was shortened.
I suddenly started to react and tried to move to the side to keep the original distance from him, but I rolled over and fell under the bed with the whole quilt rolled up.
…
I slumped on the soft quilt and looked at him. His inner clothes were loose, and his long hair fell casually at his side because he had put down his jade crown. He sat on the bed and looked down at me coldly.
My will to survive was so strong that I took the new quilt from the bedside table and covered him with it: "Your Majesty, calm down. It's getting late. Go to sleep, go to sleep."
He covered himself with the quilt and ignored me, so I rolled up the quilt on the ground and crawled back, muttering quietly: "I said two quilts are okay, but you don't want them..."
"Throw down that quilt." He ordered coldly behind me.
"Why?" I was so sleepy that I couldn't speak clearly and just wanted to go to sleep quickly.
"Dirty." He just said one word.
It's on me, not you? I'm really running out of patience with this jealous guy who's venting his anger on me. I instinctively replied, "Are you annoying? Go to sleep!"
After he finished speaking, I woke up, my body stiff, thinking about how to survive, when suddenly I felt cold all over. He grabbed the quilt with one hand and threw it to the ground.
I turned my back to him, hugged my arms to keep warm, and he ignored me.
I simply sat up and got out of bed, threw the quilt over myself, and sat down in front of the mahogany round table. I touched the part of my body that was not wet by the tea, lay down on it, and began to sleep.
I used to sleep on my desk often. I'm not afraid of you. If you think it's dirty, I won't sleep with you.
I fell asleep in a daze. When I was woken by the birds in the morning, I realized for the first time that he had not left yet. I saw him standing tall and graceful in front of the mahogany round table. His face looked tired, but he still looked majestic in his golden dragon robe.
He saw me open my eyes and said in a low voice, "Go to bed."
I stared at him, wondering what he wanted to do. He then spoke again, "Why? You want me to carry you?"
I quickly wrapped myself in the quilt and lay down on the bed. I was surprised to find that he had already folded the new quilt into a square and placed it on the bedside table. I was really impressed.
He glanced at me lying there and turned and walked out the door.
Although I fell asleep last night, I didn't sleep well. My eyelids are fighting and I feel dizzy. I was just about to continue sleeping when Xiao Cui ran in with a worried look on her face. Seeing the tea on the floor, she ran straight to me and said, "My lady, did you have a quarrel? His Majesty looked very bad when he left..."
She saw me lying in bed with a tired look on my face, and then she said with a look of enlightenment: "Oh! I understand! I understand! My lady, please take care of yourself!"
What the hell? But I just felt sleepy and didn't want to delve into it any further: "Xiao Cui, ask Doctor Jiang to come back this afternoon to check my pulse. I need to catch up on my sleep in the morning. When the princess comes, she also told me to catch up on my sleep. I'll go see her later."
"Yeah!" Xiao Cui's understanding look gave me goosebumps: "My lady, please take care of yourself!"
I waved my hand and watched her happily pack up the tea, close the door and leave. Why did Xiao Cui look so happy when she saw me looking tired? Is she my daughter?
