Chapter 21 Explanation

"My lady, what are you doing?" Xiao Cui looked at me with confusion and worry.

Empress Defei is really reliable. She delivered the bucket and shoulder pole I asked for this morning. I specially asked Xiao Cui to find some earth-colored trousers for palace maids to change into so that they could move more easily. Then I started walking around the yard with the shoulder pole and the bucket.

It's really heavy. I remember watching those weightlifters stand up easily without any effort, but why can't I even stand up?

I poured out most of the bucket of water: "Exercise to activate your muscles and bones."

"But..." Xiao Cui hesitated for a long time before speaking: "My lady, this is unbecoming..."

Indeed, I was now dressed as a palace maid, carrying a large wooden barrel and a shoulder pole, sweating profusely, and looked nothing like a lady from a noble family. "Hey, the door is closed anyway, so if you don't tell anyone, no one will know!"

I held the bucket for a while and then started running around the yard. Xiao Cui and Xiao Tao stood beside me, frowning and not knowing how to persuade me.

Suddenly someone called out from outside: "Sister Mu, Sister Mu~"

Why did Princess Shuang get up so early today? Suddenly remembering that I hadn't explained to her what happened in the Cining Palace yesterday, I quickly asked Xiao Cui and Xiao Tao to open the door. They hesitated, "My lady, you are so..."

"It's okay, it's okay." The heroine has the good qualities of kindness and tolerance. What's more, Princess Rushuang and I have become familiar with each other day after day, so we don't care about these trivial things.

"Sister Mu, you..." She was indeed a little surprised to see me like this when she came in. I smiled and said to her, "Exercise for an hour every day, and live a healthy life forever!"

"Puchi" she was immediately amused by me: "Sister Mu is really different from others!"

I wiped the sweat off my face with a towel and then pulled her to sit on the marble bench. "Princess Rushuang, let me explain to you what happened in the Cining Palace yesterday..."

"Sister Mu, I understand! It's okay, it's okay!" She waved her hand indifferently.

Did she understand? Had Song Heng explained it to her? Still feeling uneasy, I briefly told her about the quilt incident, confessing that I simply wanted to teach Ah Jian a lesson, that she wasn't such a "mindless worshipper" of the emperor.

After listening to me for a long time, she suddenly giggled, patted my hands and said, "Okay, Sister Mu, I've said everything, I understand!"

Then she continued leisurely, "It's no big deal to like someone, Sister Mu, you don't have to be embarrassed... But since Sister Mu is shy, don't worry, I won't tell anyone a word. I'll keep it a secret for you, a secret!"

After saying that, she winked at me playfully: "Besides, it's perfectly normal to fall in love with my brother Heng~"

I was completely bewildered by her words, but she suddenly started to talk non-stop: "But I was really touched by Sister Mu's affection yesterday! Brother must have been very happy inside! He even said that he only came to you because we live close together, but even a fool could tell that he just wanted to come to you..."

"I..." I opened my mouth to explain, but every part of it was a misunderstanding. I didn't know where to begin! And why weren't the two princesses nervous or annoyed at all? Were they so confident because of their heroine aura?

Coincidentally, Imperial Physician Jiang arrived early today, and the conversation ended there. Imperial Physician Jiang felt my pulse and smiled with relief: "Miss Mu's stomach cramps should be almost gone. During this period, eat less raw or cold food and be careful not to catch a cold."

"Doctor Jiang!" Princess Rushuang shook her head and said with a smile, "Sister Mu is already a concubine!"

"Ah, I don't know." Doctor Jiang turned to look at me and said, "Congratulations, Concubine Mu."

"Thank you, thank you." I forced a smile. The twin princesses' cheerfulness and enthusiasm today actually made me feel uneasy. Could it be that I had caused them to become darker?

But afterwards, everything was just like usual. Doctor Jiang and Princess Rushuang were chatting on the side, so I went to the inner room to change my clothes, and began to happily flip through the storybook accompanied by the chirping of insects and singing of birds.
