Chapter 6 Queen

What happened last night can’t be shaken off my mind. I knew before that the emperor rarely came to the harem, and he came most likely because the heroine Song Rushuang came to the harem to develop the plot.

As for being favored by Concubine Mu, it was only because I deliberately tried to win her favor at the Empress Dowager's birthday banquet, so I temporarily relaxed my vigilance in this regard.

But what happened yesterday still made me sweat a little.

"Mrs. Mu is very different today," that cold voice still lingered in her ears.

But it is absolutely impossible for me to continue with the original female supporting role to use various low-level methods to seduce the emperor and harm the female protagonist. Isn't this just watching herself rush to the road to hell?

I was feeling depressed and was about to get up to wash and wait for Doctor Jiang to come, but Xiao Cui had already hurried in: "My lady, the Queen is here." I frowned, still not sure why she came here so early in the morning, so I simply huddled back under the quilt.

"Did you have a good sleep last night, sister?" Before seeing the person, I heard the voice, which was full of uncontrollable ridicule and sarcasm.

She stood at the head of the bed, looking down at my frail self with her slender eyes: "How pitiful... Sister, please don't pay your respects."

"Thank you, Your Majesty." Behind her stood a girl who was about 16 or 17 years old. She had wide eyes and a round face, giving people a dull feeling.

No one could have imagined that the queen's personal maid, A Yuan, would actually be an informant arranged by the emperor to be by the queen's side.

"I gave you a chance but you didn't take it. Haha, what's going on now? You've been fed something you shouldn't have. It must be excruciatingly painful, right?" She curled her bright red lips, her eyes looking at a ridiculous abandoned pet.

No one except the princess, Doctor Jiang, and later the emperor knew that I ate peach blossom cakes. Even Xiao Cui and Xiao Tao were working elsewhere in the courtyard at the time and had no idea.

Oh, and because I changed the plot, the heroine's maid Xiaohua, the queen's spy, hasn't been eliminated by the emperor yet. I can't help but sigh, things seem to be getting more and more complicated.

"I don't understand what my sister is talking about... Is it the syrup that shouldn't be eaten?" I feigned confusion. "But my sister ate it on her own, not because she was fed."

"You..." Queen Hua glared at me, but she couldn't say that she had spies and knew everything. Seeing her so frustrated, I actually felt a little gloating.

"Mu Chenshuang, I'm really curious. Aren't you usually the one who loves the Emperor the most? Why are you planning to take a different approach now? First get close to the Princess, then get closer to the Emperor?"

"Your Majesty, you are worrying too much. My friendship with the princess is solely with the princess and has nothing to do with anyone else."

"Oh, that's a nice thing to say. Mu Chenshuang, you know that the princess and the emperor are not related by blood, so don't shoot yourself in the foot one day."

"That's the emperor and the princess's business. I'm just a beauty, so I just need to do my duty." You are the one who is afraid of getting hurt, I complained in my heart.

"Tsk tsk tsk, you've become more eloquent after not seeing you for a few days!" She narrowed her eyes and said, "Mu Chenshuang, remember this, and keep your duties. If you dare to trip me up one day, even if your Mu family has a few Mu Anguos, I'm afraid they won't be able to hold you back!"

Mu Anguo is my father's name. My face turned cold: "Your Majesty, you are worrying too much. If no one offends me, I will definitely offend them."

"What a big tone!" She raised her eyebrows: "Do you think your brother will escape again if he escapes this time?"

She actually forgot about this. I stared at her intently. Seeing my expression, she smiled with satisfaction: "Don't worry, sister. If you do your duty, I won't do anything. Sister, you know what it means to do your duty, right?"

"My sister is stupid." Could it be that she was going to threaten me to do something more evil and frame me? She wasn't really afraid that I would sell her out one day out of frustration.

It turned out that I overestimated her.

"Hmph, stick to your duties. First of all, stop showing off your foxy face and wandering around people you shouldn't be around."

It turns out that she has long been afraid that my face would be alluring and tempt the master, so it is hard to believe that she would want to kill me with poison.

But unfortunately, she thought too much. I had no intention of following the original female supporting role and trying to show off my presence in front of the emperor.

What's more, facts have proved that no matter how beautiful a face is, the emperor will not take it into consideration if it does not have the halo of a heroine.

"Don't worry, sister. I will do my duty well." I said sincerely.

"You agreed quickly." She curled her lips and said, "Don't play tricks on me."

I have been thinking about how to teach my brother who likes to play tricks a lesson. He has good talent but his mind is always crooked. I must set him straight, otherwise I will feel uncomfortable being always being controlled by the Queen.

What's more, the Mu family was in a mess at that time because of my useless brother and I. When I think of my father who was loyal and upright all his life but suffered a miserable old age because of his children, I can't help but feel a pang of pain in my heart.

The queen snorted coldly and turned away: "Sister, have a good rest. You still have a long time to go with the stomach cramps."

I glared at her back fiercely, but then I couldn't help but feel sad when I thought of her fate two years later.

The glory and desolation in this palace are but a fleeting moment.

And I should actually thank her this time. I just happened to use her maid to tell the emperor that I would not tease him in any way again. It was because I was forced by the queen. This saved him from suspicion.

Yet he came at night. The emperor is suspicious, and I am not deceived.
