Chapter 36: Storming the Prime Minister's Residence, Dong Zhuo Flees in Panic

Outside the Prime Minister's residence, Lü Bu and his deputy had just left when Wang Han stormed into the residence. Upon hearing the shouts of battle from inside, Lü Bu's deputy quickly reported to Lü Bu, "General, there are shouts of battle coming from the Prime Minister's residence. Someone is causing a disturbance there."

'Damn it, they really came looking for trouble. Luckily I ran fast.' Lü Bu thought to himself with relief, and said to his deputy, 'There were shouts of killing in the Prime Minister's residence? No, you must have misheard. How could anyone dare to cause such a ruckus in the Prime Minister's residence?'

The lieutenant was taken aback upon hearing this. He listened again, and the battle cries were still ringing out. He couldn't help but say, "General Lü Bu, I certainly heard it..."

"What did you hear? You must have misheard." Lu Bu said impatiently, "I didn't hear anything. You must be out of your mind. Who in Luoyang has the guts and ability to break into the Prime Minister's mansion? Let's hurry and get to the military camp."

"General, you?" Lu Bu's deputy looked at Lu Bu in surprise upon hearing this. Now he could see that Lu Bu had heard the voice, but had deliberately ignored it.

"Bang..." The corpse of a Xiliang soldier fell from the sky and landed right in front of Lu Bu and his companion.

Looking at the corpses of the Xiliang soldiers lying in front of him, Lü Bu's deputy general, clinging to his last hope, quickly said, "General Lü Bu, someone has indeed broken into the Prime Minister's residence. Let's hurry in and help."

"Why am I so unlucky?" Lü Bu cursed under his breath, then said to his adjutant, "Don't blame me."

"Pfft." The adjutant had just become alert when he heard this, but Lu Bu's halberd had already pierced through his chest.

"General Lü Bu, why, why?" The adjutant asked unwillingly, looking at the halberd that had pierced his chest.

"Hmph." Lü Bu snorted, pulled out his halberd, and said to his dead adjutant, "Blame yourself. Don't drag me down with you if you want to die. What Wang Han wants to do is not something the two of us can stop. Without a thousand troops, we can't stop him at all. Sishui Pass and Hulao Pass are the lessons of the past."

Having said that, Lü Bu quickly spurred his horse and rode away towards the military camp. Wang Han's intention to kill Dong Zhuo was also an opportunity for Lü Bu—an opportunity to seize control of Dong Zhuo's forces. He had personally experienced Wang Han's strength; the victories at Hulao Pass and Sishui Pass were proof enough. He believed that once Wang Han was determined to kill Dong Zhuo, Dong Zhuo would undoubtedly die, because no one in the Prime Minister's mansion could withstand a single blow from Wang Han, nor were there enough soldiers to stop him. He needed to seize control of Dong Zhuo's forces before anyone else.

Dong Zhuo had just followed Guo Si out of his bedroom when he saw his Xiliang soldiers retreating in panic. If it weren't for the fact that his guards were all hand-picked soldiers, they would probably have already fled. In the distance, a man wielding two huge golden hammers was swinging them relentlessly. The hammers seemed weightless in his hands, leaving afterimages as soldiers were smashed and sent flying dozens of meters, landing lifeless. No one could stop his advance, not even a single step.

Dong Zhuo finally understood why Guo Si had been so flustered in urging him to flee. He had said that even his most powerful general, Lü Bu, would be no match for this man. Such a formidable figure was truly invincible. However, Guo Si's current objective was to kill him.

"My lord, hurry and leave through the back gate." Guo Si saw that Wang Han was getting closer and closer, and his soldiers were about to collapse. He quickly said to Dong Zhuo, "We must get to the camp as soon as possible and mobilize a large army to deal with this man."

"Alright, let's go quickly." Dong Zhuo nodded hurriedly upon hearing this.

"Cover the Prime Minister's escape, kill..." Upon hearing this, Guo Si quickly nodded and ordered the soldiers, "Anyone who retreats again will be executed. A reward of a thousand gold pieces will be given for each enemy killed in front."

"This...kill..." Upon hearing this, the retreating Xiliang soldiers were stunned for a moment, then charged towards Wang Han again. Military orders were absolute; retreat meant certain death, and only by charging forward could they have a chance to survive.

'They're not retreating anymore. It seems Dong Zhuo has emerged.' Seeing the Xiliang soldiers charging towards him again, Wang Han knew that Dong Zhuo had appeared. However, Wang Han underestimated his own intimidation of the enemy and overestimated Dong Zhuo's courage, assuming that Dong Zhuo was directing the battle, unaware that Dong Zhuo had already begun to flee.

"Bang bang bang..." Wang Han walked forward step by step, swinging his hammer continuously. The Xiliang soldiers were sent flying back by Wang Han at an even faster speed. Wang Han's eyes began to search behind the Xiliang soldiers, trying to find Dong Zhuo who was in command.

"He's too strong. The soldiers can't stop him at all." Guo Si watched in horror as his soldiers charged at Wang Han with all their might, but they couldn't stop him. Instead, Wang Han killed them at an even faster pace. He had no idea how long his soldiers could hold off Wang Han.

As Wang Han slaughtered fewer and fewer soldiers, the already low morale of the troops was on the verge of collapse, and the trend of desertion became more and more obvious. Guo Si could only grit his teeth and flee out of the mansion, knowing that staying would surely mean certain death.

"The general has fled! The general has fled..." Although Guo Si had escaped, some soldiers shouted in terror, dropped their weapons, and fled after him.

"The general has fled! Run!" More and more soldiers joined the fleeing ranks. The remaining Xiliang soldiers no longer dared to charge towards Wang Han and risk their lives; Wang Han was too terrifying for them.

"They've escaped." Hearing the Xiliang soldiers' exclamations and seeing that they were no longer rushing towards him but scattering in all directions, Wang Han was stunned for a moment. He quickly looked in the direction from which the exclamations came and saw a general in armor fleeing towards the back of the Prime Minister's residence.

"Bang bang..." Upon seeing this, Wang Han immediately smashed the sledgehammer to the ground, took out his powerful bow and iron arrows from behind his back, jumped up, aimed at the fleeing figure, and drew his bow.

"Whoosh..." The iron arrow emitted a sharp cry and transformed into a black shadow.

"Pfft..." In a second, the iron arrow flew over a hundred meters, piercing Guo Si's helmet and embedding itself in the gatepost.

After killing Guo Si, Wang Han slung his powerful bow over his shoulder again, picked up his hammer, and hurried to examine the general he had just shot. Unfortunately, the result greatly disappointed Wang Han; the man was not Dong Zhuo, but Guo Si, one of Dong Zhuo's generals.

'Dong Zhuo has already fled. Where could he have gone?' Wang Han pondered for a moment, then picked up his golden hammer and headed towards the Xiliang army camp. 'Dong Zhuo has fled to the military camp. For him now, the military camp is the safest place in Luoyang. Even if I don't find him elsewhere, those loyal Han officials won't let him go.'

——————————————

Just as Wang Han had guessed, after Dong Zhuo escaped through the back gate of the Prime Minister's residence, he was escorted by more than ten cavalrymen and rode towards the military camp.
