"Stop!" A shout rang out in the chaotic street, the voice as loud as a bell, the sound waves spreading throughout the entire street and reverberating into everyone's ears.
With Wang Han's shout, the chaotic street immediately quieted down.
"Who are you? What right do you have to stop us? Everyone, you agree, right?" The next moment, a burly constable pointed at Wang Han and demanded. After speaking, he was about to attack the others. After all, Wang Han was only wearing ordinary clothes. Who would have thought that the person in front of them was the legendary Divine Might General?
"Yes, there are still so many people standing here, and the result is still not decided!" Upon hearing this, many people immediately joined in the commotion, rubbing their fists together.
"My God! It's going to continue!" Some people with self-awareness or who understood the situation paled. If the fighting continued, they feared they would be killed. They already regretted getting involved; in the chaos, it would be difficult for them to escape. Those who had been dragged in as bystanders were even fewer still standing.
However, it is not an exaggeration to say that these people from the lower classes fought so fiercely for their future and a way out in the late Song Dynasty. In fact, it might have been even more extreme, since this era was not as civilized as modern or knowledge-based societies.
"How dare you! This is General Shenwei! Why aren't you bowing?" Manager Zhang immediately reprimanded the constable for his disrespectful words.
"General Shenwei? Who are you trying to fool! Brothers, keep going!" The leading constable scoffed. He knew this Manager Zhang, but Manager Zhang couldn't possibly know General Shenwei. The so-called General Shenwei was just dressed in ordinary cloth, only a bit handsome. He had that much discernment; these two were just trying to get them to stop fighting. Unfortunately for them, they had only joined the melee halfway through.
At the lead constable's shout, the surrounding constables immediately started attacking the others, and those who were already itching for a fight also immediately started fighting those around them, and the melee resumed.
"Pretty boy, take this punch from grandpa first." The lead constable rushed towards Wang Han, raising his fist to strike him.
"This is terrible." Upon seeing this, Manager Zhang's face turned pale. The first task assigned to him had turned out like this; it was a complete disaster.
"Don't let anyone die, I can't revive the dead," Zhou Fu quickly said to Wang Han.
"No." Wang Han sneered, making the two men even more anxious.
"The Technique of the Earth Giants," Wang Han casually uttered a name, forming several hand seals with one hand. On either side of Wang Han, the bluestone ground rapidly rose, instantly transforming into two five-meter-tall, obese earth giants. The constables charging towards Wang Han were startled and stopped.
"Roar..." The two giants bent over and roared at the constable, the sound deafening. Then, each of the two clay giants extended a giant clay hand, one on the left and one on the right, and struck the constable who had stopped in his tracks in fright. They avoided his head and struck the constable's shoulders.
"Crack, crack." The sound of bones breaking rang out clearly, and the terrified constable was slammed to the ground. Both of his shoulders and internal bones were shattered. He was already barely breathing.
"Hiss!" The people fighting in the street stopped amidst the roar, staring in horror at the two five-meter-tall mud giants, and then at the constable whose body had been smashed on both sides. They all gasped in shock.
"I told you to stop, but you just ignored me and wouldn't listen?" Wang Han said with a gloomy face, glaring at the crowd that had stopped in the street.
Under Wang Han's glare, the people on the street quickly lowered their heads, not daring to meet his gaze. Even those who had been the most successful in the entire brawl dared not meet Wang Han's eyes. The ones who had initially instigated the fight were trembling uncontrollably, fearing that Wang Han would ask who had started it.
"Hmph!" Wang Han snorted coldly. This snort immediately sent a chill down the spines of everyone present.
“I recruited you as guards to show your skills, but I didn’t order you to fight in the street and cause such a commotion,” Wang Han said angrily. “Now that you are all injured, I don’t want to pursue this matter any further. Now, everyone line up and come in to have your injuries checked. I mean everyone.”
After saying that, Wang Han turned around and walked into the medical shop.
"So many people! General, you're going to kill me with exhaustion!" Zhou Fu complained loudly, looking at the wounded all over the street.
"It's not that tiring, you muscular young man!" Wang Han's voice came from inside the shop.
After Wang Han went inside, the people on the street looked at each other and eventually lined up on their own. The constables and soldiers who had been fighting fiercely before consciously maintained order and made amends by not letting anyone go. After all, Wang Han had emphasized that everyone should leave.
In no time, the line of people seeking medical attention stretched from the clinic's entrance to the end of the street, then back up to the beginning, repeating this several times. Many of the unconscious victims were being supported and carried by their companions, and this group comprised about a third of the total. This demonstrated the ferocity of the earlier fighting. However, under Wang Han's covert supervision, no one was killed; the incident, however, had become quite significant, reaching the ears of the imperial palace and many high-ranking officials.
"I never expected our mighty General to possess knowledge of pharmacology; he must be exceptionally accomplished. I wonder if Fu'er will give himself away." Hearing that Wang Han's recruitment of a guard had caused a street-wide brawl, Emperor Huizong chuckled and moved on to other topics. Although the matter had reached his ears, it wasn't a major issue; he could handle it without needing to intervene. Besides, this was quite normal; as the saying goes, even a seventh-rank official is subject to the prime minister's authority. There are countless people who crave wealth and power. Sometimes, when certain individuals commit serious crimes, the death toll extends far beyond a single street.
