"Pfft pfft pfft...!" After the ant demon soldiers lined up in front, they began to spray green liquid columns from their mouths.
"Sizzle, sizzle..." The green liquid fell into the burning fire, instantly evaporating into a large amount of green mist, which rose rapidly, churned, and dispersed amidst the rising flames. Under the cover of the green mist, even the rocks of the cliff began to corrode into a thick, pale greenish-gray liquid.
"Head Spirit, what's happening to these cliffs?" The humans, who had retreated to the third wooden wall, were amazed as they watched the cliffs of the canyon being continuously corroded by a light green liquid that flowed down and gradually extinguished the fire at the edge of the cliffs. They had never seen such a scene before, not even the sight of sulfuric acid corroding objects.
Although they were amazed that the green poisonous fog could corrode rocks, and astonished to see such a sight for the first time, not a single human showed any fear. Even though being covered by the poisonous fog looked terrifying, and even though the fog was spreading towards them, no one showed any fear, because the Head Spirit was there.
They believed that under the guidance of the Head Spirit, whatever they did would succeed, and everything they did would be worthwhile, even if many of them died, including themselves. Dying under the Head Spirit's guidance was, to them, worthwhile. Such a death, for them, meant their souls returning to the Head Spirit's side—the highest honor.
"Spiritual Wind, a gale is coming!" Seeing the poisonous fog about to spread, Wang Han did not disappoint them. He changed the Dao seal in his hands, communicating with the spiritual energy between heaven and earth, and shouted loudly.
As Wang Han completed his hand seals and the shouts subsided, the wind elemental energy in the world immediately became active.
"Whoosh...!" A gust of wind suddenly rose from the sky, bringing a huge howling sound as it blew from behind the third wooden wall, over the top of the wall, and towards the poisonous fog.
In the gale, the green poisonous fog was blown into turmoil and towards the ant demon swarm, while the fire was also blown into even greater intensity.
"Head spirit! Head spirit! Head spirit!" Cheers of celebration rang out from the top and back of the wall. Seeing the head spirit summon a gust of wind, everyone gripped the wooden wall tightly while shouting excitedly.
"Whoosh!" The gale, carrying the poisonous mist created by the ant demons themselves, quickly swept into the ant demon swarm. Although their six legs allowed them to stand firmly on the ground in the gale, the poisonous mist they created caused them great harm.
"Hiss...hiss...hiss..." Driven by the howling wind, the green poisonous mist sprayed onto the carapaces of the ant demons like paint, accompanied by a series of corrosive sounds. Soon, it corroded and severed the delicate legs of the worker ant demons. Their bodies were also pitted and scarred. Even the massive soldier ant demons, which had some resistance to their formic acid, were severely corroded.
"Buzzing..." Invisible ripples came from behind the canyon, sweeping over each ant demon like invisible radio waves. Deep in the canyon, among the endless ant demon swarm, a giant ant demon, thirty meters tall, had its tentacles constantly colliding as it moved its six legs, as thick as tree trunks, towards the canyon entrance.
"Boom! Boom!" The radio waves swept across, and every ant demon went berserk, its six legs moving in a frenzied charge against the wooden wall, undeterred by the even more intense flames that crackled and burned their bodies. Even the flames were gradually swallowed by the overwhelming black tide of the ant demon swarm. The black tide of the ant demons drew closer to the wooden wall, using their corpses to cover the flames, allowing more of their comrades to charge over their dead bodies.
"They're in a panic!" Watching the fearless swarm of ant demons charging towards them, Wang Han turned his gaze to the enormous ant demon deep within the canyon. This was a Celestial-level ant demon, nothing special, and certainly not the queen. But their willingness to go to such lengths clearly indicated that these ant demons had some kind of plan in attacking Buzhou Mountain.
"Boom..." A roar resounded from the second burning wooden wall. The huge soldier ants were the first to rush through the sea of fire to the second burning wooden wall. Under the destruction of their even larger pincers, the second wooden wall was quickly gnawed down.
"Boom!" The burning wooden wall collapsed, crushing the soldier ants that were gnawing at it under the flames. But more soldier ants trampled over the collapsed, burning wooden wall, covering the flames, and rushed towards the third wooden wall.
"Qi, since these ant demons are so fearless and want to use their corpses to cover the flames and charge forward, then let's set the fire on fire again, make it even bigger, and have all the catapults outside the canyon start launching them." Looking at the approaching ant demon swarm, Wang Han ordered Qi.
"Yes." Amidst the howling wind, Qi answered loudly, reaching the wooden wall and waving his hand vigorously behind it. Behind the wooden wall were densely packed humans and catapults, some of which were large enough to launch an entire tree.
"Whoosh whoosh whoosh..." With Qi's wave of his hand, burning wooden stakes, tree roots, and even entire burning trees, carrying thick black smoke that blotted out the sky, flew over the wooden wall and further away with a whistling sound, like fireballs crashing down on the densely packed ant demon swarm charging towards them.
This time, unlike the previous two wooden walls where there were only a few hundred ordinary catapults—a drop in the ocean—the third wooden wall provided a sufficiently spacious area where three thousand catapults were neatly arranged. Most of the humans not guarding the walls were operating these catapults from behind. With more manpower controlling them, even the launching speed was much faster; except for the large catapults, the rest could launch a catapult almost every ten seconds. Under the relentless barrage of three thousand catapults, fireballs rained down on the ant-demon swarm like an unending meteor shower.
