Chapter 717 War Mission

In the world of The Hobbit, the Ironfoot Army arrived at Lonely Mountain ahead of time because the mercenary group had brought Thorin and others to Lonely Mountain and Balin to plead for help.

The Elven army arrived at Lonely Mountain ahead of schedule after receiving news that it had returned to Thorin's hands. However, this time, after the incident with King Han, Thorin had also emerged from his confusion and desires much earlier. Although King Thranduil of the Elven realm did not obtain the white gem he desired, after some explanation, no unpleasantness occurred between the two sides.

At Gandalf's urging, the forest elf army also stayed behind to fight against the orc army, and of course, they received some treasure as compensation.

Inside the Celestial System space, amidst the envious enthusiasm of those around him, Radon quickly recruited two thousand people, all of whom possessed considerable strength. He distributed weapons and ammunition, even arranging them into ranks. After a brief familiarization with the weapons, everyone rested at the spatial gate, awaiting Wang Han's return.

Everyone knew that a new mission was about to begin, and it was a war mission; everyone was looking forward to it.

"Attention!" Upon Wang Han's return, Radon immediately shouted, and the two thousand men who had been resting quickly rose and formed a massive column. Those around them pointed and whispered, filled with envy.

"Raton, have you recruited enough people? Are they all ready?" Wang Han asked.

"Captain, we've recruited two thousand men, and they're all ready to go at any time," Radon replied immediately. Once the Zha Tian Gang's force reached two thousand men, the system's mission squad was upgraded to a mission team. Wang Han's title changed from captain to captain.

"Alright, let's get ready to go!" Wang Han said, waving his hand as he pressed the ball of light in his hand into the special groove of the spatial gate.

"Depart!" The spatial portal opened, and at Wang Han's signal, Radon immediately shouted the order.

"Splash...!"

Footsteps sounded, and two thousand people immediately marched into the spatial rift. Although it was somewhat chaotic, it was still a magnificent sight.

"Thorin." In the Lonely Mountain Kingdom, looking at the vast orc army pouring out from the huge tunnels dug by sandworms on the distant mountains, Baggins called out to Thorin, Dain, Gandalf, and Thranduil, who were about to go to the front to command the dwarves in battle, and said, "Before those mercenaries left, their captain had already foreseen this war."

Upon hearing this, Thorin and the others stopped in their tracks and turned their gazes toward Baggins, awaiting his next words.

Thorin and Gandalf witnessed firsthand the strength and terror of the mercenary group, especially Thorin, who experienced it deeply and it even changed him.

Dane and Thranduil had already learned about this powerful mercenary group from Thorin and the others, and they also knew what had happened afterward, including Smaug's death by a single shot. They also knew that before the powerful mercenary group left, one of its members had taken Baggins away alone, and now that Baggins was bringing it up, there must be a reason.

Seeing everyone's gaze, Baggins spoke after much deliberation: "Their commander told me that if we were willing to pay them the price they wanted, giving them all the treasures in the mountains as commission, they would help us win this war without us sending a single soldier or sacrificing a single person. Moreover, they would return the Arkenstone and white gemstones as exchange and compensation. This was said by their commander himself."

"Are you sure?" Thorin asked. Having come to his senses, he no longer valued treasure as much as before. Now, he cared more about his companions who had shared life and death with him.

“Yes,” Baggins nodded affirmatively, “but they need all the treasure in Lonely Mountain as a commission before they will help us fight this war, and we don’t need to send a single soldier.”

"Could it be a conspiracy?" Gandalf asked. He didn't have a good impression of the Sky-Bombing Mercenary Group. Although the Sky-Bombing Mercenary Group hadn't done anything too heinous, they were a powerful mercenary group that was very unfriendly and even vicious towards outsiders.

“It’s not a conspiracy.” Upon hearing this, Thorin shook his head and said, “If they wanted the treasure, they wouldn’t need to use any conspiracy. We can’t stop them at all.”

"If it's not a conspiracy, then what are they after? Is it really treasure?" Gandalf asked, still unwilling to believe the Skybreaker mercenary group. He didn't have the same profound understanding of Wang Han's power as Thorin did.

"Perhaps, it's just to rightfully obtain all the treasures within Lonely Mountain," Thorin said, recalling Wang Han's disdainful attitude towards all living beings. Such a powerful figure must possess personal charisma and courage, and would disdain using dishonest means against them.

Thranduil and Dane simply watched. They knew the least about the powerful Skybreaker mercenary group, and had never even seen it before, but they had no intention of giving up their share of the treasure.

“Perhaps they’re on the side of the orcs,” Gandalf said, still harboring a cautious attitude and a certain degree of hostility towards the Skybreaker mercenary group.

“If they are on the orcs’ side, then this war is over,” Thorin said confidently, then asked Baggins, “Baggins, I’m willing to offer my share of the treasure as a commission. Since you’ve brought it up now, you must have a way to contact them, or perhaps they gave you a way to contact them before they left, and they’ll be here soon, right?”

“Yes.” Upon hearing this, Baggins took out a black sheet of paper and a pen from his pocket and said, “Wang Han, the leader of the mercenary group, told me that this is a contract. As long as I sign my name on it, they will know and come immediately, but all the treasure must be paid as commission. I have already read the contents and there are no problems.”
