As Lü Zhi pondered deeply, the Qin army, resurrected through the impure world, reached the nearest Goguryeo city.
The soldiers in the city had already spotted this army of unknown origin and were preparing for battle on the low city walls. Looking at the dark mass of 20,000 Qin soldiers in the distance, the Goguryeo soldiers, numbering only 2,000, had their palms sweating with tension.
Their city lord and general fled for their lives long ago. Everyone knows that the Qin army is powerful, especially since it is 20,000 against 2,000. Unfortunately, their homes are here, their relatives have not left, and they cannot escape.
"Go forward and issue a message," Lü Zhi gestured to a lieutenant, who then read out the message.
"Yes, General of the Southern Expedition." The lieutenant immediately responded, spurring his horse forward with a soldier who understood Goguryeo. He shouted loudly, "Listen up, people in the city ahead! You have half an incense stick's time to open the gates and surrender, or we will raze your town to the ground, kill all the rebels, and enslave you all."
Upon hearing this, the soldiers in the town looked at each other, but no one stepped forward to respond. Rather than surrendering immediately, they preferred to delay until their loved ones could escape far away before surrendering; this was the safest approach, since no one knew what the Qin army might do.

Time passed slowly, and soon a Qin scout, resurrected from the dead, rode back and reported: "Reporting to the Southern Expedition General, the residents of this town are evacuating from the rear."
“It seems they don’t want to surrender.” Upon hearing this, a general who had been resurrected from the dead stood up and said, “General of the Southern Expedition, I request permission to lead five thousand soldiers to break through this small city and capture all those who have fled.”
"Approved." Lü Zhi nodded upon hearing this. If these people escaped into the mountains and scattered, it would be even more troublesome.
Upon receiving the order, the general immediately stepped out of his battle formation, mustered five thousand soldiers, and began the siege.
Under the general's command, the soldiers of the Edo Tensei carried short ladders and charged up the low city wall in one go, amidst the scattered arrows from the Goguryeo soldiers that were of little use (to be fair, the city walls of ancient Goguryeo were really low, perhaps due to technical reasons, generally three to five meters high).
When the war began and the two sides clashed, the Goguryeo soldiers were horrified to discover that these legendary, invincible Qin soldiers were not living beings, but unkillable monsters. The battle did not last long; many could not withstand the pressure and fear and chose to surrender.
