Chapter 59 The Happiest Thing

The graduation ceremony is over.

The chairs that were moved out of the classroom were also put back.

The teaching building, which is usually the busiest building, has become quiet again. Only the noisy school gate indicates where the students are going.

The early bus home was boarded by people who were anxious to get home.

The bus, packed with people, slowly drove away, surrounded by students on both sides of the road.

Wei Lai and Qing Ting, who were also standing in the crowd, had to wait for the next bus with most of their classmates.

"Xiaoting, how do you decide the outcome of this bet? A draw?"

"Yeah, well, that can't be helped. This math competition was so easy that we accidentally got full marks."

Qingting seemed to be indifferent about the math competition. She stood on tiptoe, looked to see how long it would take for the next bus, and answered casually.

Since the person who proposed the bet had no objection, Wei Lai felt that the thing had already happened and there was no point in dwelling on it.

"Well, if it's a draw, then let's just pretend nothing happened."

"no!"

Qingting suddenly turned around and said this, which scared Wei Lai.

"What's wrong?"

"We can't pretend it never happened. A bet is a bet. Once it's made, we must abide by it."

"so?"

"So, since it's a tie, let's both take a step back." Qingting placed her finger under her lips, pondered for a moment, and immediately pointed at his lips again. "How about this, since it's a tie, I'll prepare a table of delicious food for you, but you also have to do something to make me happy."

From three things to one thing, it seems that I have made a lot of money.

But based on past experience, Wei Lai immediately realized that something was wrong.

Making people happy is a very subjective thing. Qingting insisted that what he did could not make her happy, and he could say that there was nothing he could do.

"Something that makes you happy? That's too general a request. Could you be more specific?"

"Tell me one thing specifically. As long as I can do it, I can promise you anything."

"No, if I were the one who said it, there would be no sense of anticipation at all."

[It's either not possible or not good. You just want to make things difficult for me.]

Wei Lai's face drooped, his heart filled with regret.

At this time, the voice of a girl making a phone call came from not far away.

"No! Dad, you can do your work tomorrow. Come pick me up, okay?"

Seeing a girl about their age acting coquettishly to her on the phone, Wei Lai glanced at Qingting.

"Do you think she looks like you?"

"Yeah, they look quite similar." Qingting looked at the girl for a while and nodded.

"So you know you're being willful."

"No, I think that, like her, I have someone who cares about me."

Qingting's eyes flashed at Wei Lai, making him inexplicably nervous.

"Yes... Really? Then I'll think of a way."

I don't want to be your father.

Wei Lai turned his head to the side, and the words he said were completely inconsistent with what he thought.

Seeing his appearance like this in Qingting's eyes, her lips slightly raised and she silently uttered five words.

What an idiot.

At the graduation ceremony, although the principal and the dean of studies kept nagging, they still managed to end the ceremony at around three o'clock.

Unfortunately, most of the schools in the city happened to be on holiday at the same time, and the buses could not accommodate all the students. Many parents felt sorry for their children and drove to pick them up, instantly filling the roads near the schools.

It is even more terrifying during rush hour, when the road is completely blocked.

When Wei Lai and Qing Ting took the bus train back to Xiaohe Town, the sun had already set and only a gray light remained in the sky.

Walking on the cement road beside the field, street lights lit up towards them, illuminating their way home.

"Xiaoting, is there anything I don't know about that you like?"

He had already promised to do something for Qingting to make her happy. The simplest thing Wei Lai could think of was to buy her something she liked.

It just so happened that he had quite a bit of money, so he was willing to consider most jewelry.

"Just give you to me." Qingting said while looking up at the sky, waiting for the stars to appear.

"Don't joke, I'm talking about things."

The white halo of the street lamp fell on the two people, and Qingting turned to look at him.

His face was reflected in those star-like eyes, and Wei Lai suddenly realized what stupid thing he had said.

He lowered his head to look at the road and muttered, "I am superior to things."

"Yeah, I think so too, so I just want you. You're fun and you won't be bad."

“…”

After all, he's still a thing, isn't he?

Wei Lai had no idea how to respond to Qingting.

In the quiet field, the cold night wind blew, and the four wheels of the two suitcases made a rumbling sound on the concrete road.

The two of them tacitly stopped talking.

Before they knew it, they came to a familiar fork in the road.

"Let's separate here. I'll call you over after I prepare the dishes."

"good."

Wei Lai simply responded, turned around, dragged his suitcase, and walked towards his home.

He had walked less than a few meters when he suddenly turned around.

"Xiaoting!"

"Um?"

"If you want anything, or want me to help you with anything, remember to tell me. This is our bet."

"Idiot, I'm not going to tell you."

Qingting couldn't help laughing. She thought something had happened, so she shouted at Wei Lai, took a step forward, and left him with her back.
