Chapter 163 Wenxi is a good child
Wenxi kicked the pebbles on the roadside as she walked, and her originally smooth and shiny leather shoes were now covered with light traces of dust.
Her little mouth was pursed, as if she was about to cry but wasn't, and the expression on her face showed visible boredom and sadness.
The small pebble was kicked hard and rolled to Wen Zheng's white flat shoes.
However, Wen Zheng ignored her and looked at Wen Xi calmly, then walked past her leisurely. Now was not a good opportunity to get to know her, and it would be bad if she approached her rashly to talk to her and was mistaken for a human trafficker.
However, in an invisible corner, Wen Zheng gave a gentle but unfathomable smile.
Wenxi is the first character she meets when she comes to the human world. Perhaps this is the guidance of fate. So let her be the spokesperson to modify the plot of the protagonist group.
After just one glance, all kinds of thoughts emerged in Wen Zheng's mind, but before that, the little girl's character had to be straightened out.
Too bad there's other things to do right now.
She raised her hand and looked at the exquisite watch on her wrist. It was already three or four in the afternoon. She had to hurry to the supermarket to buy the daily necessities and dinner ingredients she needed, otherwise she would catch the evening rush hour.
Thinking of this, Wen Zheng quickened her pace. The strong wind from her rapid steps blew her flying hair across Wen Xi's cheek, bringing bursts of fragrance.
'It smells good.'
Wenxi's annoyed expression turned into a daze, she couldn't help but shrug her nose, and the action of kicking the stone also stopped.
The scent on Wen Zheng's hair was not the usual floral scent, but a hard to describe, warm, sun-like scent.
She knew that this description was very abstract, but it was true. If she really had to describe it, the smell was like the smell of the quilt her mother had hung out to dry for her on a sunny day a long time ago.
Wen Xi, with a relaxed expression, couldn't help but turn her head to look at Wen Zheng's back. In fact, she had noticed Wen Zheng from the very beginning, because the gentleness emanating from the inside out was what she had always dreamed of.
She also kicked the pebble at Wen Zheng on purpose, but unfortunately it didn't attract her attention.
Looking at Wen Zheng's back as she ran straight to the supermarket, and thinking of her mother who only scolded her for being a burden all day long, Wen Xi's eyes dimmed and she clenched her fists.
'Is she going to buy ingredients for dinner? Why doesn't my mother ever cook dinner for me! I wish that woman was my mother.'
Thinking of this, her nose couldn't help but twitched twice, as if tears were brewing, but the little girl was very strong. She wiped her eyes vigorously twice, which had not yet shed tears, and then found a bench to sit down.
Winter nights always come early. The setting sun shines on the lonely figure on the street, bringing out a sense of loneliness and helplessness for no reason.
Wen Zheng, who had just come out of a supermarket, happened to see this scene. She raised her eyebrows. She had originally wanted to find a chance to get to know him after joining the company, but she didn't expect that a perfect opportunity would come now.
A simple but useful plan suddenly occurred to her.
Wen Zheng was seen walking with difficulty, carrying two bulging bags filled with various daily necessities, fruits and vegetables, with beads of sweat oozing from her forehead.
Since they had just moved in and did not prepare any thick cloth bags, Wen Zheng used thin cloth bags provided by the mall that cost only a few cents each. However, as we all know, such bags are usually not very durable.
She tidied her appearance to make herself look more tired, then carried two large bags and walked slowly to the bench where Wenxi was sitting.
At this moment, a 7-8 cm long hole suddenly appeared at the bottom of one of the thin cloth bags, and all the contents rolled to the ground.
A cup gurgled and took a crooked route, hitting Wenxi's heel.
"Ah, what is that?" Wenxi was suddenly awakened from her fantasy by being hit by the cup, but before she could lower her head and raise her feet to look, a pleasant female voice appeared in her ears.
"Sorry, the bag was accidentally torn and the things in it are scattered all over the floor." The gentle woman gave a slightly apologetic smile, strands of hair wet with sweat stuck to her cheeks. Her beautiful face did not look embarrassed, but rather helpless.
"Let me help you." Looking at the woman's appearance, Wen Xi suddenly wanted to help her for some reason. She bent down, reached out, took the cup in her hand and handed it to Wen Zheng.
Wen Zheng showed a vivid expression of being rescued, and said with gratitude: "Thank you so much, although it troubles you, I think I do need help."
She turned her head to look at the scattered items on the ground, with a look of sadness between her eyebrows, which really aroused others' desire to protect her.
Wen Xi already had a natural liking for this woman, and now looking at Wen Zheng's expression, she was aroused by the remaining youthful spirit that still existed in her middle school student.
Without saying a word, she squatted on the ground, put some of the things she picked up in her small bag, and put the rest on the bench where she had just sat.
Wen Zheng did not just watch Wen Xi pick up things. Instead, she apologized and ran to the shop next door and spent a few cents to buy a large bag from the owner.
Just like that, the two of them, one picking up and one packing, had a tacit understanding, and in a short while, they had packed all the things, while showing a relaxed smile at the same time. From a distance, they really looked a bit like mother and daughter.
"Thank you for your help. Here, have a try." Wen Zheng wiped the sweat that almost dripped into her eyes, lowered her head and handed the chocolate that had been placed next to her and not put into the bag to Wen Xi.
This was the thank-you gift she had prepared long ago.
But Wenxi did not reach out to take the chocolate. Instead, she stood there with her hands behind her back, looking awkward.
"What's wrong? Is there a problem? Or do you not like chocolate?" Wen Zheng asked puzzledly.
"No, nothing. I was just wondering if you could carry it all by yourself. Anyway, since we are helping people, why don't I help you and carry it back together?"
Under Wen Zheng's gaze, Wen Xi became more and more nervous. She opened and closed her lips several times before she uttered all the words, but she couldn't help stuttering in the middle.
"Eh? Would you like to help me carry it home? You're such a good kid. I'll treat you to dinner when I get home."
Wen Zheng did not pretend to be embarrassed to refuse. She knew that it was thanks to her appearance that she was able to let Wen Xi take the initiative to speak. Since it was difficult for the awkward little girl to muster up the courage, how could she let this courage go to waste?
"Well, nothing." Wenxi turned her head away embarrassedly. Although the light was not very good, one could vaguely see a blush on her face.
At home, her parents scolded her for being a burden every day; at school, average students were often the group most easily ignored by teachers; in friendship, she knew that the two followers were just flattering her.
So this was actually the first time she was praised as a good child, and it seemed... not bad.
