Chapter 15

Chapter 15

The lobby on the first floor of the Logistics Department was very large, and with only Su Ci and a few others standing there, it seemed quite empty.

Looking at the cracked window and feeling all kinds of strange movements in the hall, Luo Shengfei's face turned pale.

If the monsters outside rushed in, it would be impossible for them to cope with it with only the three of them, plus a breeder who had no combat experience!

Seeing the heavy atmosphere, another male passenger who ran in with him forced a smile on his face. He said calmly, "Don't worry, that monster won't come in. There's no precedent for such a thing..."

Just looking at the increasing number of fine lines on the window, his voice gradually weakened and he became obviously less confident.

According to past experience, monsters in the red fog won't attack buildings... Now the building is being destroyed. Although only the metal plate of one protective window is broken, but...

How can we ensure that this monster won't enter the building?

It is impossible for an ordinary person to remain completely calm and fearless when watching such a huge monster destroying the protective metal in front of them.

The young woman who had opened the map to check it had already closed it, then took out a pistol from her waist and held it in front of her vigilantly.

"Didn't a battle just happen?" she asked seriously. "Where are the people from the Operations Department?"

If the battle wasn't over yet, the Operations Department wouldn't have allowed the monster to attack the Logistics Department building without stopping it. But if the battle was over, didn't that mean...

All the people in the Operations Department died?

Hearing the woman's analysis, Luo Shengfei was shocked, "Isn't this impossible?"

Although I subconsciously denied it, I felt it made sense.

Seeing the three people clearly immersed in grief and fear, Su Ci next to them thought for a moment and said comfortingly, "Maybe there's more than one monster?"

Then, he was met with angry stares from three people.

While that's true, the Operations Department might be dealing with another monster and therefore couldn't get here in time, but—isn't this even worse?!

Su Ci blinked innocently, and Number One, who was standing next to him, listened to their conversation. For some reason, although he should have been nervous and scared at the moment, he felt like laughing.

As the lights flickered, the four adults looked at each other in silence.

Finally, Luo Shengfei said helplessly: "To be on the safe side, let's leave here first."

Regardless of whether the monster will come in or not, the mumbling and laughter echoing in the ears still make people feel creepy.

Moreover, he didn't know if it was because his body was contaminated with high concentrations of pollutants, but Luo Shengfei felt that he could no longer control his emotions, and some tragic and painful thoughts kept emerging in his mind.

The man nodded. He had just vowed that the monster would not come in, but now he was the first to walk towards the stairs, and he was walking faster and faster, almost running.

The young woman followed closely behind, holding a pistol.

Luo Shengfei took a few steps and turned back to find Su Ci still standing there. He hurried over, grabbed his arm, and dragged him along.

Seeing the man and woman walking upstairs, he said, "Let's go to the underground warehouse. We'll be less targeted if we separate, and the underground warehouse is more well-protected..."

However, before he could finish his words, his legs suddenly went weak and he fell to the ground. Su Ci, who was being pulled by him, also staggered.

Number One, who was jogging beside them, couldn't help but stop and looked at Su Ci nervously.

Su Ci was fine, but Luo Shengfei fell to the ground with his eyes closed. Beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, and his face showed anger and fear.

"No! Let me go!"

He closed his eyes tightly, as if he was trapped in some kind of hallucination. His whole body was twitching and he was crying in pain. Although he was tall and strong, he looked particularly helpless and pitiful at this moment.

“Hehehe—hehehe—”

Su Ci tilted his head slightly and vaguely heard a low laugh of joy. This laugh was more childish than the one mixed in with the sound of rain, like a naughty boy who had successfully played a prank.

Su Ci frowned, but did not act rashly.

My companion fell to the ground, the metal protective wall shook even more violently, and strange laughter echoed in my ears.

The thin and frail young man stayed in the empty hall, but there was no fear in his beautiful black eyes like glass.

There was even a hint of curiosity in the calmness.

Seeing him like this, Number One was even less afraid. He squatted down beside Luo Shengfei, stretched out his finger, and quietly poked his cheek.

Although it also felt soft to the touch, the skin was obviously not as tender and smooth as the breeder's, Number One couldn't help but think.

The sound of rain coming in became more and more urgent.

“Crack—Crack—”

The sound of shattering glass continued, as if the god of death was ringing the death knell. Luo Shengfei, who was completely trapped in the nightmare, twitched even more violently.

At this moment, the metal protective plate was broken open in the middle, and something twisted and couldn't wait to drill in through the crack in the window glass.

It was a thin thread like spider silk, which seemed to be stained by rain and was shining with a light red crystal light.

"Alert! Alert! There's a large unknown creature..."

"Bang!"

"Bang!"

"Bang!"

"Bang!"

The alarm on the wall was broken into several pieces of silk thread and shattered one by one. With the sound of explosions mixed with the crackling sound of electricity, the shrill alarm finally stopped screaming.

The mumbling and laughter also disappeared, and the hall fell into a brief silence.

Boom!

Accompanied by a loud thunder, a huge shadow was reflected on the window, silent and terrifying.

“Ah—ah—”

Luo Shengfei suddenly screamed loudly, as if he had encountered something painful and desperate in a dream, and his cries broke the silence.

Like a butterfly falling into a spider web, causing every silk thread to tremble.

The stretched silk thread was silently pulled out from the damaged alarm, then gathered into one again, and then shot towards Luo Shengfei who was crying and screaming on the ground.

"Crack-crack-crack-" the sound of glass breaking became louder and louder, accompanied by the sound of rapid rain, as if it were a death warrant.

The silk thread fell on Luo Shengfei and wrapped him into a cocoon in the blink of an eye.

The monster that controls everything begins to close in.

The silk thread tightened, Luo Shengfei's screams rang out, and the mumbling and laughter that had just quieted down reappeared, becoming more rampant, as if ushering in a carnival.

At this tense and terrifying moment...

Su Ci stretched out a finger.

Yes, Su Ci stretched out his index finger.

Slender white fingers, with a healthy and delicate pink at the fingertips, gently touched the taut silk thread that passed in front of him.

His movements were really casual.

It was like the silk thread that bound Luo Shengfei was hovering right in front of his eyes. Out of curiosity, he raised his hand to touch it, but who knew...

“Pah—”

With a slight sound, the silk thread that was tightly bound around Luo Shengfei and had been soaked and dyed red with blood, was touched by the young man and was actually...

Broken.

“Chi!!!!”

An angry and shrill scream came from outside the window. The window, which was originally full of cracks, shattered into pieces under the impact of the sound wave and fell to the ground with a crash.

Su Ci's eyes widened slightly and he subconsciously raised his head.

As he raised his eyes, he saw a huge spider, at least as tall as a two-story building. The light red hairs on its body stood up, and countless compound eyes, some large and some small, emitted a bloodthirsty red light, looking down at him condescendingly.

“Chi!!!!”

When Su Ci looked up, the giant spider waved its two forelimbs, opened its fangs, and let out an angry and fierce shrill hiss, as if it was going to tear Su Ci to pieces in the next second.

So fierce...

Su Ci blinked lightly.

?

The furious giant spider's front limbs, which were about to stab downwards, suddenly stopped in mid-air. From extreme movement to extreme stillness, it seemed as if it was resisting some invisible force. Not only did it fail to stab down, it also retreated stiffly bit by bit.

Finally unable to resist, the giant spider let out an even more shrill cry of pain and quickly disappeared in front of Su Ci's eyes, as if it had been kicked away.

As the spider disappeared, Su Ci came back to his senses and looked around.

The spider did not appear in the hall, and what he just saw seemed to be an illusion.

“Chi!!!!”

The shrill chirping of insects came from outside the building, but the huge figure crouching on the window quickly retreated, revealing the blood rain still pouring outside.

Then, the sound of fighting was heard - the people from the Operations Department finally arrived.

As the giant spider moved away, the strange phenomenon in the hall subsided.

The faint whispers and laughter that seemed to be able to distort space disappeared. Su Ci could vaguely hear a childish voice cursing as it walked away.

Finally, the cursing disappeared completely.

In the hall, broken glass was scattered all over the floor. Strangely, the pouring rain outside did not splash in, as if blocked by something invisible.

Su Ci glanced outside for a few times, then retracted his gaze and looked down at Luo Shengfei, but unexpectedly met a pair of dark red eyes.

The child tilted his head back and stared at him without blinking. It was unknown how he understood what had just happened.

Su Ci didn't care and said softly, "It's okay."

Number One nodded, his eyes shining as he looked at him. After sizing him up a few more times, he and Su Ci looked at Luo Shengfei who was lying on the ground.

His upper body, including his entire head, was entangled in silk threads, leaving only his two legs twitching and trembling.

Without the monster's control, the silk threads loosened, and the blood seeping from Luo Shengfei seemed to be absorbed. The silk threads became as smooth as new, with only a faint light red fluorescence flowing through them, revealing a bit of weirdness.

Su Ci reached out, picked up the broken thread, and looked at it with interest.

Unexpectedly, as he pulled, the silk thread tied to Luo Shengfei began to shrink and left Luo Shengfei's body smoothly like flowing water.

When it finally stopped shrinking, only a small section of about ten centimeters remained.
