Chapter 66: Work Hard
Tong Wanwan didn't feel sleepy until a glimmer of light appeared in the sky.
She slept for a very long time and woke up from her intermittent dreams around noon.
"Wanwan, did you sleep well?" the system asked cautiously. Thinking back to last night's events, it felt its motherboard sizzle like a grill. To be more specific, its failure to notice the abnormalities of these little pets was also its fault.
Tong Wanwan rubbed her eyes and looked out the window at the warm sunshine. Daylight and sunshine always dispel bad moods.
"Pretty good." She glanced at the time on her laptop and was startled. "It's already noon?! Breakfast..."
I didn’t get any rest last night and didn’t fall asleep until early morning. The consequence was that I slept until noon and didn’t even have time to make a nutritious breakfast for my cute pets.
After getting up, I still had the aftereffects of staying up all night - a heavy head and sore eyes.
[Hmph!] The system got angry at the mention of this. [They're orcs, so it won't hurt if they go hungry. The most important thing is you, Wanwan!]
It babbled, "You didn't eat breakfast, so you're hungry? If you're too lazy to make lunch, I'll ask the small household machine to make it for you. It cooks quickly!"
Tong Wanwan was truly touched by the system's concern. She smiled and shook her head, "I plan to make some fried snacks this afternoon with the rose petals I dried earlier."
"By the way, Yiyi," she hesitated for a moment, then asked, "Can...when did Mr. Marshal leave?"
【That guy went downstairs at daybreak.】
After hearing this, Tong Wanwan lowered her eyes, as if thinking about something.
She wasn't good at revealing other people's secrets. What's more, the person keeping the secret was a very special person.
Or maybe... a group.
Tong Wanwan took a deep breath, as if she had made a decision. After washing up, she opened the door and was greeted by a row of cute little pets.
She glanced over casually and found that the little white lion was a little far away from her. However, as soon as she opened the door, its gaze followed her involuntarily.
"Meow!" Today, Naitang was the first one to act coquettishly to her.
This time the kitten didn't use her pants as a scratching post, probably because she had grown up a little and become more ladylike.
It just walked over on all fours, circled around her calves a few times, and made soft, coquettish cat meows as usual. Then, the little kitten curled its tail and wrapped it around her calves, as if it wanted to encircle her and take her away.
Like a little angel.
As if she was fed a sweet marshmallow, Tong Wanwan's heart melted and she picked up the marshmallow.
Daya: “!”
The little British Shorthair, with its fur softly stroked, was held in his arms. He opened his eyes wide and shrank his ears shyly.
She is so happy!
Happiness comes so suddenly...
Usually at this time, the first thing Sister Wanwan would pick up would always be the little lion. No matter how much Daya acted like a spoiled child, it was only during her first days at the pet shop that she received more hugs and affection than the big white lion.
Taking this opportunity, Daya buried the cat's head in the store manager's neck, sniffed it lightly as if she were sniffing catnip, and rubbed her chin with her furry face.
It smells so good...
It smells even better than the roses in the backyard.
Elvis: “?”
The little white lion tilted its head and walked over to Tong Wanwan. However, it couldn't bring itself to do that, acting even more clingy than a kitten, just holding its head high and staring at her without blinking.
Tong Wanwan was touched by its innocent look that looked like it was waiting to be noticed. She paused and looked away uncomfortably.
Well, when she thought that the person pretending to be cute in front of her was the tall and handsome Marshal, she felt a little... like laughing.
Facing this group of orcs wearing vests, but wearing them very perfunctorily and with the vests hanging precariously on their bodies, Tong Wanwan felt a sense of unease that she knew clearly but could not say or show.
Wouldn't it be embarrassing? Tong Wanwan thought absentmindedly.
If she were to expose it.
"Ah?" the little white lion cried out in confusion. Normally, the girl would have hugged it, kissed it, and held it high in her arms. Why was she so cold to it today?
Elvis' heart tightened, his eyes moved slightly around Tong Wanwan's face, and he couldn't stop the doubts that were spinning wildly in his mind.
Could it be that Wanwan didn’t sleep last night?
The little white lion, who thought that the vest he had been hiding for two months had been stripped off, suddenly met the girl's gaze.
Then, Tong Wanwan subconsciously curled her lips and smiled at it.
Elvis was startled, then slightly relieved. It seemed he hadn't been discovered.
"I'm sorry I got up late today."
"You didn't have breakfast, you must be starving. I'll make lunch for you." Tong Wanwan bent down, patted each of their little heads, and led them downstairs to the kitchen. "We have afternoon tea today."
"Gu!"
When it comes to food, little hamsters are always the most supportive.
The little white lion followed, lost in thought, and walked at the back.
Elvis was thinking: Wanwan smiled at him just now, but still didn't hug him.
……Why?
After feeding the little pets with delicious food, Tong Wanwan stayed alone in the kitchen to make fried desserts, leaving them outside to play by themselves.
Because of his second form, Eli couldn't be held; a girl's palm was his preferred spot. Therefore, he was oblivious to the subtle atmosphere between Tong Wanwan and Elvis.
But Tracy discovered something.
It poked the little mouse and signaled him with its eyes to go back to the room and talk in private.
The four of them, a mouse, a bird, and their two cat-shaped tails, returned to the pet activity room. The little white lion simply glanced at them and ignored them, turning his gaze back to the busy figures in the kitchen.
"What's wrong, Tracy?" Eli saw Tracy release her second form, so he did the same. The two cats saw this and turned back into humans.
"Wanwan doesn't seem happy today. Did something happen yesterday?" Tracy asked.
He had no hope for Eli's emotional intelligence, but just wanted to remind his friend.
"Ah?" Eli was indeed surprised. "Wanwan is unhappy?"
Tracy: Indeed.
"So," the young man with long light brown hair sighed helplessly and suggested, "you know what to do?"
If you can't compare to the real sun, then be a warm little sun that tries hard to shine.
Only in this way can you be noticed by those who care about you.
Eli's eyes lit up, understanding the meaning of "good military advisor" and nodding repeatedly. Daya blushed slightly and unconsciously grabbed her brother Savannah's sleeve, her fighting spirit also secretly ignited.
She encouraged herself in her heart - the older brothers were working very hard, and she couldn't fall behind!
They are all so cute. I can write about the daily life in the pet shop forever.
