Chapter 186 Beauty Saves the Hero!
Upon seeing the arrival of at least a hundred Imperial Guards, the assassin who was still fighting Xue Yao picked up a knife and, without any hesitation, slit his own throat, committing suicide.
Xue Yao reacted quickly, immediately knocking away the long knife from the last remaining man and dislocating his jaw and arm, wanting to keep him alive so he could extract information from him later.
However, in fact, the only remaining assassin was the thinner assassin who, along with the tall, thin man who had just been executed by the archers inside the gate, had tried to take Li San Niang hostage in exchange for a chance to escape.
He never wanted to die for the mission within the sect. He hadn't actually used all his strength to fight Xue Yao and the others before. It was only when there were only two of them left that he used all his strength and was able to hold off Xue Yao and the Golden Guard.
The reason Xue Yao dislocated his jaw and arm was because he hadn't put in his best effort to resist.
Xue Yao pointed in two directions to the Golden Guards who were rushing over from behind, and told them to split into two groups and quickly go to those two directions to check all the two-story houses within 500 paces. If they were quick, they might have a chance to capture that archer with superb archery skills.
Xue Yao himself, along with several guards who had arrived, went to search several places they had previously suspected were likely the location of the mastermind.
The remaining groups of Imperial Guards left one group to arrest people, maintain order, and treat the wounded, while the others dispersed as previously agreed to surround the four gates of the neighborhood and search for any remaining members inside.
Li Sanniang glanced at the arrow in front of her, nodded to Xu Jingzhen, and continued kneeling on the ground to stitch up the Jinwu Guard who had suffered a knife wound in his abdomen.
Xu Jingzhen didn't come forward to explain in detail. After confirming that Li Sanniang was alright, he simply picked up the tortoise shell that had been broken into several pieces and put it in his pocket before following a group of Imperial Guards to inspect the neighborhood.
Although Li San Niang was very surprised by Xu Jingzhen's appearance, this was really not a good time to ask questions.
While finishing up her work and applying wound medicine, Li Sanniang said to Qiuxiang, who had come to her side, "Qiuxiang, go to the clinic quickly and ask Doctor Gao for some catgut sutures and wound medicine powder. If they have any clean cloths, bring them as well."
After saying all this, he finished stitching up the wound on the man he was working on and said to the soldier who had been standing in front of him watching him earlier, "Be careful when moving this man, don't aggravate the wound."
The Imperial Guards, clad in armor and wielding spears, had never seen anyone stitching up a person before, especially not a woman.
Faced with Li Sanniang's instructions, the soldier who had just watched Li Sanniang calmly and carefully stitch up the knife wound in the abdomen of the Jinwu Guard on the ground couldn't help but reply, "Yes."
Emergency medical care is always a race against death; time is everything!
Li San Niang got up and looked at the group of Imperial Guards who were busy carrying all the wounded to an open space in front of a shop by the roadside. She then carried her medical kit and headed towards the place where the wounded were gathered. She glanced back at Qiu Xiang, who was still following her, and then turned to say, "Why aren't you going yet?"
"My mission is to protect my wife."
Li Sanniang waved her hand and said without turning her head, "Why do I need you to protect me now? This place is full of Imperial Guards. Those villains have probably already fled for their lives. No one can hurt me. You go quickly, it's a matter of life and death."
Qiu Xiang watched as Li San Niang headed towards the group of Imperial Guards. After hesitating for a moment, she turned and ran towards the direction of the Medicine Hall.
Upon arriving at this location, there were nearly twenty people lying on the ground, including Jinwu Guards in armor, Bad People and Imperial Guards disguised as civilians, and innocent civilians who had been accidentally injured.
Not far from here, there were seven or eight corpses piled up, probably all enemy assassins.
"I am Li San Niang from the Third Medical Hall. I know how to treat patients. Quickly, remove the soldiers' armor and let me see them."
The one left behind was a captain of one of the Imperial Guards. He stopped giving instructions to his subordinates and looked at Li San Niang, whose sleeves were rolled up, whose face and neck had obvious wounds, and whose hands were covered in blood, without responding.
Li San Niang was getting anxious. "This is life-saving! Why aren't you saying anything?"
Never mind, Li Sanniang put down her medical kit and began examining the soldier closest to her.
Okay, this person is just unconscious, there are no external injuries;
He was stabbed in the collarbone and had a deep, bone-exposing wound on his back; he was seriously injured.
He'd been slashed in the thigh, and oh no, it was still bleeding.
Li San Niang stopped next to this passerby who was clearly a member of the thugs, grabbed his belt, and tightly wrapped it around his still-bleeding upper thigh several times as a tourniquet.
"Call me in 45 minutes."
The soldiers standing aside waiting to move the corpses were given this instruction by Li Sanniang and didn't know how to answer. They turned to look at their squad leader.
The squad leader naturally realized that Li Sanniang was rescuing someone. When he received the questioning look from the soldiers, he nodded and agreed to do as Li Sanniang said.
Li Sanniang quickly walked around and found eighteen people, including two innocent civilians who had suffered minor injuries.
Of the remaining people, three have unfortunately died.
Besides the two she had just given emergency treatment to, there were five others with serious injuries, while the rest had injuries that were not life-threatening at the moment.
Of the five seriously injured people, besides the one Li San Niang had just seen with a deep wound on his back that exposed bone, there was another person who was in the most serious condition. He was a soldier from the Jinwu Guard, whose stomach had been slashed open and whose intestines were sticking out, but he was still conscious.
Li San Niang looked at the armor and saw that it was clearly very sturdy and should be able to withstand swords and blades, but the armor had broken off from a knife wound on the waist and abdomen.
I wonder who the assassin was; that knife must have been no ordinary weapon.
This person had already been placed among the three dead bodies who had stopped breathing, but Li San Niang noticed that his eyelids were still moving and pulled him out.
Li Sanniang knelt beside the man, observing the situation. His intestines had ruptured, and digestive juices were spilling out. No wonder this man had been thrown into a pile of corpses.
"Third Sister!"
Li San Niang turned her head and saw Tang Mingyue, who was panting heavily and carrying a medicine box on her back. Beside her was a young apprentice who was also panting heavily and carrying a medical box. Looking further back, she could see several other figures in the distance.
Those must be Dr. Li, Dr. Cui, and Dr. Gao, who are slower runners.
"There's a knife wound on his back that's deep enough to expose bone, and his lower leg is broken. I'd appreciate it if you could take care of him, Dr. Tang. Please leave me some wound medicine and catgut. I'll give you the spare instruments in my medical kit for now."
After saying this, Li San Niang took out a set of her spare suturing instruments from her medical kit and handed them to Tang Mingyue.
Tang Mingyue was stunned for a moment, and only came back to her senses when she was touched by the equipment bag that Li Sanniang handed to her.
The young apprentice was more efficient than Tang Mingyue, taking out a packet of catgut and two small bottles of wound medicine from the medical kit.
Having obtained what I wanted, I took a look and realized it was probably the clinic's most prized possession: sheep gut suture.
Li San Niang ignored Tang Mingyue and took out a large cloth from her medical kit. She looked up at the soldier who had been following her and said, "I want strong liquor, boiling water, the finest salt, and water that has been boiled and cooled."
Seeing that the soldier did not move or answer, Li Sanniang repeated herself. She glanced at the man on the ground and then looked at the soldier and said, "Whether he lives or dies depends on when you can get the things."
Suddenly, a voice came from above: "I have strong liquor at home!"
Li San Niang looked up and saw an old man with a beard leaning out of the window on the second floor and talking. Only then did Li San Niang realize that the Jinwu Guard had placed the wounded in front of a wine shop.
