Chapter 64 Annihilation (Part Two)
The boy walked towards him step by step, his pace neither hurried nor slow, and looked at Dong Huai Ren as if he were looking at an ant.
He feigned distress and said, "Tell me, why bother? We never intended to exterminate them. If you just obediently acknowledge our Lord, you won't have to see such a bloody scene."
"Hahahaha..." Dong Huai Ren laughed loudly, staring at him fiercely: "Even if I surrender, will he let me go? From the moment he took that position, we were destined to have no way out, so I have to take a gamble."
The boy shook his head: "Nonsense. It's truly pitiful that the Lord's good intentions have been misunderstood by you all."
Dong Huai-ren said, "He is not pitiful, but tragic."
Suddenly, he lunged forward, raising his sword to thrust at the boy. The boy remained unfazed, dodging the attack and blocking his second strike with his backhand. Dong Huai Ren was putting all his strength into every move, seemingly wanting to finish him off as quickly as possible.
The boy, pressed closer, had no choice but to take a few steps back to create some distance, a smile playing on his lips: "Sect Master, are you in such a hurry to kill me for someone else?"
Dong Huai-ren froze for a moment. This person probably already knew where Dong Qi was. He couldn't delay any longer.
He thrust his sword forward again, but the boy did not dodge. Just as the tip of the sword was about to reach his neck, he heard him whisper, "Is it... this person?"
Yu Guangzhong saw Dong Qi being captured by the people of Linyi Gate and brought before them. Dong Huai Ren's sword immediately deflected by an inch and was deflected by the boy's palm, embedding itself in a crevice in the stone.
“Father…” Dong Qi knelt in front of him, crying. The two men were pressing down on her shoulders, and she couldn’t even straighten up.
The boy clicked his tongue twice, looking sympathetic: "What a pity, he looks about my age."
"What are you going to do?!" Dong Huai Ren's eyes were bloodshot as he pleaded in a trembling voice, "Don't... don't touch him, I'll do whatever you want with me."
"Anything is fine with me?" The boy raised an eyebrow at him and blurted out, "Kneel down."
"No! Father, don't listen to him! You can't kneel!" Dong Qi struggled to get up, but the two men pressed her back down hard.
"How about it, Sect Leader Dong? This condition isn't too high, is it? I've always been a very kind person," the young man said to Dong Huai Ren.
Dong Huai-ren stood motionless with his head down, his hands clenched into fists, his heart filled with endless struggle and torment. A few strands of gray hair hung down in front of him, making him look as if he had aged more than ten years in an instant.
Seeing that Dong Huai Ren remained motionless, the young man seemed to lose patience. He raised his arm and turned the sword in his hand half a circle, making a shallow cut on Dong Qi's neck with the blade. It wouldn't kill him, but it would draw blood.
"No!!" Dong Huai-ren was terrified, closed his eyes and resigned himself to his fate: "Fine... I'll kneel."
He staggered, swayed twice in place, then knelt down on one leg, and slowly lowered the other, his head bowed, but his shoulders and back remained straight.
The boy's satisfaction was palpable. He crossed his arms and looked down at the scene of the dignified sect leader kneeling before him.
Dong Huai-ren asked softly, "Can we release him now?"
The boy feigned surprise and immediately retorted, "When did I say I was going to let him go?"
Dong Huai-ren remained silent, as if he had already guessed that it wouldn't be that simple.
Dong Qi roared, "You two-faced scoundrel!!"
The boy smiled and said, "Thank you for the compliment."
Dong Huai-ren said, "Speak, what other conditions are there?"
The boy stroked his chin thoughtfully, and after a long while, he slowly approached Dong Huai Ren, bent down and whispered in his ear, "Seeing the deep affection between you two as father and son truly moves me. How about exchanging your life for his?"
He straightened up and shouted in a voice that everyone could hear: "If Dong Huai Ren commits suicide here today, I will release his son and promise to immediately withdraw from the Shao Xuan Sect!"
"How about it, aren't these conditions generous enough?"
"Father..." Dong Qi cried, gasping for breath, tears streaming down her face. "It's all my fault...it's all my fault. Let me die, I deserve to die!!"
Dong Huai Ren glanced at him and forced a smile: "Silly child, why are you crying? Once I'm gone, no one will be able to take care of you."
"Oh my, look at this scene, it's truly moving! Sect Leader Dong, don't hesitate, let's make our move."
Dong Huai Ren's sword had been flicked away by the boy earlier. He tried to stand up to retrieve it, but the boy stopped him.
"Who said you could stand up?" The boy smiled and pointed towards the sword: "Crawl over there."
Dong Huai Ren stopped struggling, his eyes glazed over. He obediently placed his hands on the ground and slowly crawled over step by step. There were many small, round stones on the ground that had been blasted apart by spiritual energy. They looked small, but when they touched his knees, they felt like needles piercing his flesh and tearing his skin.
Blood seeped through his clothes, but Dong Huai Ren's expression remained unchanged. He crawled to the sword and used all his strength to pick up the sword that had been with him for most of his life. If he could die by his own sword, it wouldn't be such a bad thing.
The boy shouted to him from afar, "Please, take your own life!"
"No!!" Dong Qi struggled frantically, trying to get closer to him. Perhaps his father was right; the most painful thing in the world is being unable to control one's own destiny.
Dong Huai Ren placed the sword against his own neck, taking one last look at Shao Xuanzong, where he had spent most of his life. The cold wind blew his disheveled, ashes-covered hair. He never imagined that even in death, he would be so undignified.
He hardened his heart and pressed down hard on the hilt of the sword.
鋥——!
A sword gleaming with a bluish light struck his wrist, knocking the sword from Dong Huai Ren's hand.
Chu Jianshan slightly raised his hand, and Mo Yang was pulled back into his palm. He stood with his back to Dong Huai Ren, his hands behind his back, and spoke to the boy: "So vicious at such a young age, you really do have some of Qiao Yi's shadow."
The young man looked at Chu Jianshan, bowed respectfully, and although he had a smile on his face, he was more disdainful: "I have long heard of the great name of Immortal Venerable Chu, and I have long admired you."
Chu Jianshan glanced at him and said, "Ji Zihua."
Ji Zihua raised an eyebrow: "I have never heard of you before, how does Immortal Venerable Chu know my name?"
Chu Jianshan helped Dong Huai Ren up and handed him to Bai Qianfan behind him, explaining, "I've heard about the twins at Linyi Gate before. I've met your sister, Ji Ziyan, and you look a lot like her."
Ji Zihua smiled faintly, sheathed his sword, raised his hand to signal the Linyi Sect disciples to stop, said goodbye to Chu Jianshan, and turned to leave.
"What, not planning to fight first?" Bai Qianfan called out to him.
Ji Zihua turned around: "Even the number one immortal in the world, Chu Xianzun, has made a move. How can I possibly win? Does Chu Xianzun intend to kill me outright?"
“Why pretend anymore,” Chu Jianshan exposed him: “A person like you, with lofty ambitions and boundless aspirations, is even more terrifying…”
He slowly approached Ji Zihua: "You think you're so great. You've probably been coveting my position as the best in the world for a long time. Now that we've finally met, how could you possibly admit defeat on the spot and turn around and leave?"
Ji Zihua was in no way inferior to Chu Jianshan, raising his eyes and smiling, "Then, in the opinion of Immortal Venerable Chu, what am I doing this for?"
