Chapter 81 The Approaching Snowstorm (Part 1)
Before Chu Jianshan could speak, Cheng Yuan immediately turned around and attacked. Ji Ziyan drew a hand seal with her right hand and summoned a bone whip to defend herself.
The chilling sword energy blasted away the surrounding snowflakes, leaving the unsuspecting guests in the hall speechless with shock.
Some fearless young masters simply clung to the doorframe to watch, not daring to blink. After all, this was the first time they had ever witnessed a wedding where the bride and groom were fighting on their wedding day.
Chu Jianshan stood still, not in a hurry to act. Linyi Sect was able to summon so many people in a short time, which must mean they had prepared in advance. However, this was not the worst of it.
Throughout the entire process, there was still one person who did not appear.
Over there, Ji Ziyan was no match for Cheng Yuan and was quickly defeated. She half-squatted on the ground, wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth, and inexplicably smiled at Chu Jianshan. The ruthlessness in her eyes was like that of a venomous snake, as if she wanted to tear him to pieces.
Chu Jianshan couldn't help but shiver. In fact, he had never understood where this girl's hatred for him came from. He was not Bai Qianfan, and he had never had the habit of seeking pleasure with women. Could it be that they had met before?
Just as he was racking his brains to remember, the people surrounding him were already getting restless. Chu Jianshan turned around and dodged a sword that was thrust at him.
He and Cheng Yuan stood back to back, watching the growing crowd in front of them. Chu Jianshan lightly touched his wrist and asked, "Do you regret it?"
Cheng Yuan firmly replied, "I will never regret it."
Like a sharp sword, Cheng Yuan's speed was terrifying. In an instant, he had taken the lives of several cultivators who were relatively close. He showed no mercy, and every move was ruthless, all aimed at the neck of his opponents.
He came to break through the encirclement, which means he left Ji Ziyan to Chu Jianshan.
Chu Jianshan's fighting style was nothing like Cheng Yuan's; in Bai Qianfan's words, he could torture someone to death.
As he parried Ji Ziyan's attacks, he kept muttering, "Oh my! This bone whip is quite nice. Was it a gift from Qiao Yi? How did you get that scar on your face, young lady? Who is so heartless as to not cherish a lady like that! Qiao Yi just let you do it all by yourself, where is he?"
"Get lost!!" Ji Ziyan struck with all her might, the power of which was unimaginable. However, due to her disordered mind, Chu Jianshan easily dodged the attack. Behind him, a stone lion as tall as a person was blown to pieces.
Whether intentionally or unintentionally, every word Chu Jianshan uttered hit Ji Ziyan's sore spot. The person opposite him was clearly furious, launching attack after attack, wishing they could tear Chu Jianshan in two.
Chu Jianshan argued with her for a while, then got serious, and Ji Ziyan was sent flying by a palm strike, crashing into a pillar.
Chu Jianshan remained unsparing: "Do you think Qiao Yi would come to your rescue if I killed you now?"
As Mo Yang thrust his dagger down, Ji Ziyan remained unfazed, closing her eyes in preparation for what was to come.
With a clang, someone blocked the sword for her.
Ji Ziyan suddenly opened her eyes and saw the person in front of her.
"Zihua..."
Chu Jianshan did not stop, and Mo Yang continued downwards.
Ji Zihua could no longer hold on and slowly knelt on the ground, his eyes bloodshot and his arms trembling. "Immortal Lord Chu, I beg you..."
Taking advantage of Chu Jianshan's momentary hesitation, Ji Ziyan dodged to the side and rushed straight towards the main hall.
Chu Jianshan realized something was wrong and quickly sheathed his sword to give chase.
There is a statue of a goddess in the Temple of the Sun God. Ji Ziyan was obviously heading there. Chu Jianshan guessed that it should be a self-destruct device in the temple. If the statue of the goddess is destroyed, no one present will survive.
"Dong Qi! Stop her!"
Dong Qi obeyed and stepped forward, but Ji Ziyan lashed out with all her might, slamming Dong Qi hard to the ground.
"Boom—" Small stones exploded all over the ground.
One second, two seconds... nothing happened.
Only then did everyone dare to look up. They saw that the stone statue that was originally placed in the center of the hall had been moved to a corner. Ji Ziyan's bone whip struck the wall, and the entire wall collapsed with a crash.
Ji Ziyan turned her head to look and saw that a teleportation talisman had been pasted on the back of the goddess statue.
Beside the stone statue, Bai Qianfan crossed his arms and smiled at Ji Ziyan.
"Young lady, you have quite a temper."
"Shut up!" Ji Ziyan, enraged and embarrassed, lashed out at Bai Qianfan again.
Bai Qianfan's skill was not as good as Ji Ziyan's, but fortunately he was prepared in advance. He brought a bag full of talismans today, including dozens of teleportation talismans. Even if he couldn't kill her, he could still annoy her to death.
"Can't hit me, can't hit me!" Bai Qianfan used the teleportation talisman to instantly move to various corners of the hall, dazzling everyone who saw it.
"Get out here!" Ji Ziyan attacked with both sword and whip, but couldn't even touch a hair on Bai Qianfan's head.
During a lull in their fight, Chu Jianshan finally had time to examine the goddess statue properly.
This stone statue is too strange; it doesn't resemble any of the deities worshipped in folk religion. The eyes are not carved, as if veiled by a thin layer of gauze. Yet, upon closer inspection, it feels strangely familiar.
With a deafening roar, a massive clap of thunder exploded in the sky, and almost instantly, the still somewhat bright sky went dark. The fighting inside the house also ceased instantly.
"Who's that?" The young master with the folding fan was quick on his feet and had run out at some point.
Chu Jianshan followed his gaze upwards and indeed saw a person.
The moment they saw him, almost all the snowflakes flying around froze for a second, then retreated wildly to both sides, revealing a path that howled in the wind.
A black figure appeared at the end of the crack.
He was wrapped in a dark cloak of indistinguishable material, the collar and hem of which were whipped up sharply by the wind, yet not a single snowflake managed to stick to the fabric—not that the snow couldn't fall, but rather that it was shattered into dust by the coldness emanating from him as soon as it approached.
His steps were slow, and with each step he took, the snow beneath his feet silently sank half an inch, without making a sound. Only the whistling of the wind through his clothes made his figure appear even more somber and inky.
Chu Jianshan then noticed what was on his face: an old-fashioned fox mask, which seemed completely out of place with his surroundings.
"You've finally come." Facing him, Chu Jianshan felt more at ease than fear.
"Long time no see, Chu Qingyuan." Qiao Yi stretched out his hand against the wind and snow, as if he wanted to touch the person in front of him.
Chu Jianshan didn't make a move, wanting to see what he was going to do.
"Don't touch him!" Cheng Yuan arrived first and slashed at him with his sword.
But like a stone falling into water, the sound flowed directly through his arm, creating ripples.
Chu Jianshan subconsciously pulled Cheng Yuan behind him and said to Qiao Yi, "You've called the wrong person. I'm Chu Jianshan."
“Heh,” Qiao Yi’s lips curled up slightly, and he said in a low voice, “As you wish.”
He looked up at the people in the hall, young and old, men and women, all sorts of people. The young master was still engrossed in watching when his father forcibly dragged him back. "Wow, how impressive! Dad, who is he?"
"What a pity," Qiao Yi said inexplicably.
Chu Jianshan realized something was wrong and turned around abruptly, shouting at them, "Get out of the way!"
A burst of intense spiritual energy exploded outwards, originally heading towards Chu Jianshan, but then split apart in front of him and flew straight to the main hall.
"Fang Lan—!"
Bai Qianfan's sword rose up in response, and it pierced the spot where the talisman was buried even faster than Qiao Yi's.
In an instant, a golden barrier rose from the ground, encircling the entire hall. The spiritual energy collided with the barrier and instantly dispersed, disappearing without a trace.
"interesting."
Qiao Yi slowly approached them. Bai Qianfan realized what he was about to do and, not caring what kind of talismans they were, pulled them all out at once.
Qiao Yi made his move again, and this time the power seemed much greater than before.
Countless talismans were scattered around Bai Qianfan, and driven by spiritual power, they flew to the barrier. The barrier frantically absorbed the spiritual power attached to the talismans, and one talisman after another began to burn.
"Damn it!" Bai Qianfan couldn't help but swear, shouting at the idle people behind him, "Those who don't want to die, come and help!"
The group of people finally came to their senses and stood behind Bai Qianfan to stabilize the barrier for him.
Outside the hall, Chu Jianshan and Cheng Yuan joined forces to attack Qiao Yi from behind.
Qiao Yi caught Chu Jianshan's Mo Yang with his bare hands. Unable to break free, Chu Jianshan simply released his sword and struck Qiao Yi in the chest with a palm.
The moment he touched him, Qiao Yi vanished from his sight, and Cheng Yuan, who was attacking from behind, almost accidentally injured Chu Jianshan.
The next few moves were the same; Qiao Yi didn't attack first, seemingly toying with them, dodging and weaving. Even without the aid of a teleportation talisman, he could move so quickly; Chu Jianshan couldn't fathom just how strong this person truly was.
After he disappeared once again, the surrounding wind and snow suddenly stopped, the snowflakes froze in mid-air, even the wind stopped, and everyone stood still.
This familiar scene.
"Chu Jianshan," Qiao Yi's voice echoed in Chu Jianshan's ears, but he couldn't see anyone, "Haven't you made a choice yet?"
"I don't understand what you're saying." Chu Jianshan's voice trembled. He didn't understand why he was pretending to be stupid, but whenever he faced Qiao Yi, he always felt a kind of inexplicable fear.
"I've given you enough time. Guess who it will be this time?"
Time began to flow, and a gale howled. Chu Jianshan struggled to open his eyes and saw a dark figure heading towards Cheng Yuan. He instinctively ran towards Cheng Yuan, but the next second, a powerful spiritual force exploded in his chest.
"Master!!"
Chu Jianshan was sent flying by his palm strike, crashing into the barrier. Bai Qianfan twitched his index finger slightly, and the barrier cracked open, swallowing Chu Jianshan inside.
"Are you alright?" Bai Qianfan caught Chu Jianshan.
Chu Jianshan shook his head, but then he saw Qiao Yi slowly raise his hand, gathering spiritual energy in his palm.
"Bai Qianfan!"
Bai Qianfan stood up in response, used a spell to stabilize the barrier, and prepared to receive the attack.
Outside the hall, Qiao Yi's lips slowly curved upwards beneath his mask.
Chu Jianshan subconsciously turned around, and what he saw made his pupils shrink.
Ji Ziyan's sword pierced straight through Bai Qianfan's body, blood dripping from the tip. Bai Qianfan's hands fell limply to his sides, and he staggered.
"A Thousand Sails—!"
Chu Jianshan rushed over, but the barrier outside the hall shattered instantly.
