Chapter 27: Cracks
Jian An Ning scratched her head and asked her disciples to bring the news that the monsters would not attack again to the people in the Buyeo branch. She stayed in the room and took out a thread-bound book and a bronze mirror from her chest.
The book didn't seem to have changed much, after all, it was something that couldn't be damaged by thunder from heaven, but the bronze mirror was different.
The originally flawless mirror surface had cracked at some point, and the crack seemed to stretch from Jane An Ning's neck to her cheek. The person in the mirror was smiling almost wildly.
"I'll be out soon. You can't trap me."
The effect of the mirror blocking sound disappeared, and even if Jane Anning was unwilling, she could only be forced to listen to the person in the mirror chattering.
Jian An Ning held her chin with both hands, thinking about how to block out the sound.
After enduring for a long time, Jane An Ning finally came up with a solution. She raised her hand and formed a seal to completely block out the sound.
However, the reflection in the mirror saw her intention and chuckled, as if with a hint of grievance, and said, "Are you so unwilling to hear what I have to say?"
Logically speaking, if there was a third person present, they would find that the voice of the reflection in the mirror was actually the same as Jane An Ning's, but Jane An Ning still hesitated.
She pursed her lips and finally modified the permanent spell a little.
The person in the mirror raised the corners of his mouth slightly and said, "You really are still..."
The rest of the sound was silenced by Jane Anning. She didn't want to know what the reflection would say at all.
She looked irritably at the book and the person in the bronze mirror who was smiling at her, and finally put both things close to her body.
At the other end, the end of the long street.
Fan Qingyue and his group came to the residence mentioned by the people from the Fuyu branch, but obviously, they could only see corpses on the ground.
Outside the courtyard, people were coming and going. Some curious people also saw the miserable scene in the courtyard and sighed, saying, "Natural disasters, man-made disasters, and the world are unpredictable."
But Fan Qingyue remembered those wounds; they were caused by Fan Shiliu's simple and straightforward method.
Someone else said to the three people who were stunned, "It's not just them. The head of the Fan family also died in that catastrophe."
Upon hearing this, Fan Qingyue's pupils constricted. He said in disbelief, "That was a Nascent Soul Stage being. How could he die so easily?"
"What's more, he's afraid of death. Even in a catastrophe that destroys the heavens and the earth, he would be one of the last to die."
The passerby seemed surprised that Fan Qingyue knew Fan Guanfu so well. He looked at him in surprise and said, "Are you from Jinxi City too?"
"You're certainly right, but as the saying goes, things are unpredictable. Maybe this person has met his nemesis?"
"Didn't you see that the Fan Mansion was almost razed to the ground?"
Fan Qingyue didn't know how to describe his feelings. He had thought that Fan Guanfu would die one day, but he didn't expect that he would die so suddenly.
He was speechless for a moment, and didn't know how to express the emotions in his heart.
The passerby did not stay for long and hurried away from him, leaving Fan Qingyue alone.
He didn't want to think about anything, but his mind kept replaying his past days in Buyeo.
Fan Guanfu had many children, but Fan Qingyue was not familiar with most of them. He was only familiar with Fan Zhengyu and Fan Mao. Now, all the family members he was most familiar with have left this world.
Belated sadness washed over him.
"Let's go to the Fan Mansion and take a look," Jiang Tan suggested, looking at his appearance, "at least see what's going on."
Probably because the people of Jinxi City were frightened by the commotion that broke out in Fan Mansion earlier, there were no passers-by near the ruins of Fan Mansion.
A group of three people walked on the ruins, searching for Fan Guanfu's body, but in the end they found nothing.
Fan Qingyue only found the broken bodies of Fan Zhengyu and Fan Mao, and buried them.
He looked very heavy, and Jiang Tan didn't know how to comfort him.
After all, if a demon cultivator kills someone and the body is not found, there is only one possibility, that is, the body is used as raw material to refine magic weapons.
It is said that the higher the cultivation level during one's lifetime, the higher grade of magical instruments can be refined into his bones after death, so demonic cultivators often engage in grave robbing.
So, the three of them returned to the inn to report to Jian An Ning.
Jian An Ning thought about it and thought, this way the purpose of coming to Buyeo has been achieved, right?
Then, she confidently engraved the mark of completion on the mission jade token given by the Great Elder, and then said to her disciples: "Set off and return to Qingyun Sect."
The journey back was much smoother than the journey here. At least this time they did not encounter any monsters in the canyon between Fuyu and Zhongzhou.
The journey was smoother after that, and the time it took to get back was actually much shorter than the time it took to go there.
Qingyun Sect, in the sect hall.
Jian An Ning and her three apprentices reported to the great elder who issued the task.
The Great Elder seemed a little surprised. Obviously, he didn't expect Jian Anning and his group to come back so soon.
He hesitated for a moment, then asked, "Elder Jian, are you sure you've dealt with the Fuyu issue?"
Jian Anning nodded affirmatively and said, "Of course."
The Great Elder, of course, still remembered the terrible results of Jian Anning's previous missions, so he continued to ask, "So, what exactly happened to the Buyeo branch, and how did you solve it?"
Jian Anning saw her three disciples all looking at her. She couldn't help but clear her throat and said solemnly to the elder, "The monster attack on the Fuyu branch was caused by demonic cultivators."
The Great Elder's expression instantly became serious.
Everyone knew that the demon cultivators were unscrupulous and full of evil, so he continued to ask, "How did you deal with the demon cultivators?"
Jane Anning was stuck on the spot.
To be honest, she didn't seem to have completely dealt with the evil cultivator.
"Those two demon cultivators have escaped, but I'm not sure if they will return to Buyeo."
Jian An Ning thought that it would not happen. The most valuable thing in Fuyu was the inheritance of the Fan family. Now the inheritance was taken away directly by Fan Qingyue. If the demon cultivators wanted to take it, they would have to rush to Qingyun Sect.
The Great Elder: “…”
Okay, he knew this would happen.
Then he raised his hand and wrote down several runes, and began to recruit new candidates to go to the Buyeo branch to guard the mines. This time, the requirements would be stricter than before.
However, this has nothing to do with Jane An Ning, and she doesn't want to care about it. She has more important things to do.
Jian An Ning brought her disciples back to Yuxuan Peak and looked directly at Fan Qingyue who had been dodging her.
"Qingyue," she said, looking at her former most beloved disciple with a hint of heartache, "What's wrong with you?"
Fan Qingyue felt that the inexplicable inherited memory still affected him.
Every time he meditated and adjusted his breathing, the scenes in his inherited memories would always replay in his mind. He would always see the man who looked exactly like his master, raising the huge sickle and chopping at him.
He always felt the fear deep in his bones.
It was precisely because of that fear that Fan Qingyue didn't even dare to look directly into Jian Anning's eyes.
Such consequences were indeed beyond Jane Anning's expectations. Her previous "emergency treatment" was obviously only a temporary solution and not a fundamental solution.
She also wanted to probe her spiritual power into Fan Qingyue's spiritual platform to check the situation, but Fan Qingyue's rejection of her spiritual power was much higher than Lu Fei's.
She was afraid that if she wasn't careful, her eldest disciple would become a fool.
Jian Anning rubbed her forehead with a headache, and couldn't help but speak out her heart: "Can't the souls of the old times just die there peacefully?"
"What?" Fan Qingyue asked with a little confusion. He thought he was hallucinating.
"Nothing." Jian An Ning decisively brushed it off.
Fan Qingyue took a deep breath and told everything that had been bothering him recently as best he could.
"Master, I always confuse you with the person I saw in the inheritance."
Jian An Ning was stunned. Obviously, if Fan Qingyue was deeply affected by those memories, it would be extremely difficult for him to say these words.
"The inherited emotions have infected my emotions, so I am becoming less and less able to control the fear." Fan Qingyue's expression even revealed a bit of pain, and he squatted down on the spot holding his head.
Jian Anning walked towards him, gently lifted his face, smiled at him and said, "That's not me."
"I'm Jane Anning."
Fan Qingyue could feel that Master's words had a very subtle soothing effect, which was in a sense more effective than the previous "treatment".
The ancestor of the Fan family who almost wanted to possess him seemed to be persuaded by the master and gradually calmed down.
Fan Qingyue felt much more relaxed.
After Jian Anning finished speaking, she waved her hand and said to her disciples, "After such a long journey, it's time to go back and rest."
Fan Qingyue and the other three therefore returned to their caves.
Among them, Lu Fei was extremely silent. He never said a word. He just returned to his residence and began to practice without stopping.
But when Fan Qingyue wanted to go back, Jiang Tan stopped him.
"Brother, I have something I want you to help me with."
Fan Qingyue felt really happy right now, especially since he was asking for help from his usually aloof junior sister, so he said very straightforwardly, "Ask!"
"Does the person you saw in the inherited memory really look exactly like Master?"
"What are the ghosts of the old times?"
"Perhaps you may not have noticed, Master, she can use my longbow."
These three short sentences pushed back the stone Fan Qingyue had just lifted. With a bitter face, he said to Jiang Tan, "I can only tell you that the answer to the first question is yes. I don't know the others."
Jiang Tan frowned, raised her longbow, and said, "My longbow is a treasure passed down from generation to generation in the Jiang family. I have never heard of anyone other than a member of the Jiang family being able to use it."
"You said you saw Master in the inherited memory," Jiang Tan pondered for a moment, then continued, "How does the Master in that memory compare to when Master is not normally right?"
Fan Qingyue had been disturbed by the thoughts of his ancestors and had never thought about this.
He thought carefully and said again and again, "There are still differences."
"But I can't tell what the difference is."
Jiang Tan gave up asking after getting no results, so she turned to ask another question.
"When I was at home, I read ancient books. The inheritance of the origin of gold is the original power in the sky, and on the earth it is Taiyi Jingjin, a natural treasure. If that treasure is in your hands, you can use it to forge your own magic weapon."
However, after Jiang Tan finished speaking, he only received a confused look from Fan Qingyue, who asked, "What is Taiyi Jingjin?"
