It sounded like a metal spiral, or like something breaking.
Tang Yaoyao also had excellent hearing. She subconsciously looked towards the source of the sound and inwardly cried out in alarm.
Ye Junlin's face turned pale, and he instinctively jumped off the table and grabbed her hand: "What are you still looking at? This classroom is going to collapse!"
After saying that, he quickly ran outside.
Tang Yaoyao's breathing suddenly became somewhat suffocating. At this moment, countless fragments flashed through her mind, but she couldn't grasp any of them. However, a sense of fear that she had never felt since her rebirth gradually rose in her heart.
"Ye Junlin..."
He yelled, "Shut up! Run!"
But it was too late; the entire classroom collapsed about three meters from the door.
A loud bang.
Without a second thought, Ye Junlin grabbed her hand and pushed her toward a triangular shape. In the instant the structure collapsed, he picked up the table and held it above his head.
He then lunged at her, using the table to shield her from above and his body to protect her on the inside.
Tang Yaoyao stared at him in shock: "Ye Junlin, you..."
Her next words were surrounded by a series of collapsing pillars.
All I could hear were the sounds of collisions, and the air was thick with the smell of dust. In just a few seconds, my vision was plunged into darkness.
A few more seconds passed, which felt like an eternity.
Besides fear, she was also shocked.
She wasn't familiar with Ye Junlin, not even a friend. If there was any connection between them, it was because she had tricked him and should therefore harbor hatred.
But in the face of life and death, he protected her.
Such a shock left her, who was always free-spirited, speechless.
It felt like his entire weight was pressing down on her, and there were drill bits and roof beams all above her...
With that kind of force, even she, who was protected inside, was in pain all over; one can only imagine how much more painful it must have been for him.
She suddenly panicked.
Is Ye Junlin dead...?
She had waited for years for one benefactor; how could she ever repay another one?
She tried calling his name: "Ye Junlin".
The surroundings seemed to quiet down. In the pitch-black light, she couldn't see him, but she could faintly hear his breath.
"Ye Junlin".
His voice was weak, but he still couldn't shake his usual irritability: "Damn it! Aren't you a fortune teller?"
Tang Yaoyao's breath hitched; he was still alive.
"How could I not have foreseen this unexpected event..."
He mumbled something else, then fell silent.
Tang Yaoyao wanted to call out to him, but the impact had injured the back of her head, and the pain made her dizzy and unable to hear a sound.
Now, she couldn't be sure if he was still alive, and she was plunged into darkness.
Being an ordinary person is really not easy at all.
...
President's Office.
Su Mei conveyed Yao Ge's message before handing him the jade pendant: "Yao Ge said this is a protective jade, which she has carried with her since childhood. She asked me to give it to you as a return gift."
Xiao Jinhan took it, held it in his palm, his long eyebrows furrowed slightly, and his voice was cold and indifferent: "She wants to fulfill Pei Jin's dream, is that it?"
She nodded, her eyes softening as she thought of Pei Jin's past: "Fourth Master, he has already suffered so much. If you really want to take care of him in place of his mother, then grant his wish. Don't let kind people feel lonely."
His phoenix eyes narrowed slightly, his long, slender fingers clenched, the jade in his palm gradually warming, his low, cold voice somewhat aloof: "He..."
At that moment, Jiang Ci rushed in, shouting in a panic, "Fourth Master..."
