Chapter 24 Nongnong, don't be angry with me.
"Atlas!"
Gou Qing rushed over immediately.
Atlas let out a low whimper. Hearing its owner's scolding, it immediately released its grip on Yan Yuehe's ankle, its erect ears drooped, and it grabbed its doghouse, dragging it back to its original position by shaking its head.
Yan Yuehe felt the pull and, stunned, let go of the doghouse.
The next second, she was picked up by Gou Qing.
“I’m fine. Atlas just bit me lightly. Put me down.” Yan Yuehe instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck. She lifted her bitten ankle and wiggled it a couple of times. “See, there’s no bleeding. I can walk by myself.”
Gou Qing glanced down at her ankles, but instead of putting her down, he hugged her even tighter.
"Go rinse it off first."
Gou Qing's voice was trembling, but he didn't even realize he was trembling. He picked her up and turned to walk towards his bedroom.
No one expected Atlas to suddenly bite someone.
Since giving birth, Atlas has never shown any protective behavior towards its puppies. When Gou Qing and Yu Zhi took the three puppies in front of it, it didn't react at all.
Gou Qing placed Yan Yuehe on the bathroom floor: "Hold onto the wall and stretch your legs."
Yan Yuehe sighed silently and did as she was told.
Gou Qing squatted down, holding the shower head.
Yan Yuehe thought he was simply rinsing her wound, but she didn't expect him to reach out and touch it.
She was so startled that she tried to pull her foot back, but Gou Qing grabbed it.
"Don't move." Gou Qingyang's face was tense. "You need to rinse for at least fifteen minutes. There's no time to soak you in soapy water. How about I just apply some directly in a bit?"
He knew the skin was broken the moment he touched it.
Yan Yuehe felt somewhat uncomfortable.
Although it's just an ankle, it's still a foot, a sensitive area that few people would touch except yourself.
"I'll do whatever you say." She trusted him.
Gou Qing lowered her eyelashes and slightly raised her ankle, trying to see more clearly.
Yan Yuehe's gaze had nowhere to land; it wasn't appropriate to look into a man's bathroom, so she could only look at her feet, which were constantly being rinsed with water.
And the man not far above his feet.
Gou Qing is very serious.
Yan Yuehe was so focused that she felt as if her ankle was a delicate and fragile piece of porcelain.
His gaze was not offensive; if they could look each other in the eye, Yan Yuehe would only see self-blame and heartache in it.
"It was my fault. I shouldn't have agreed to let you go get the doghouse. I should have waited until this afternoon and had Yu Zhi do it."
Gou Qing suddenly spoke amidst the increasingly thick steam.
“Dr. Yu will probably be heartbroken to hear that.” Yan Yuehe was still in the mood to joke, and she even comforted him, “But it really doesn’t hurt at all, and it should be healed in two hours.”
Gou Qing's profile was tense as she looked up at her.
Whether it was due to the external moisture or the wetness in his eyes, his eyelashes were pressed heavily together: "I'll take you to get a rabies vaccine in a bit."
It's better to be safe than sorry.
Although Atlas had received all the required vaccines, Gou Qing still wanted her to get vaccinated as a precaution.
"Okay, okay." Yan Yuehe stretched her ankles. "Has it been fifteen minutes? It feels like I've been rinsing for ages."
The time she spent being held by Gou Qing was particularly unbearable. He would occasionally stroke the tooth mark, as if he were helping her heal better through this touch.
Gou Qing replied meticulously, "Three minutes left."
Okay, just three more minutes.
Yan Yuehe pursed her lips: "That was Atlas's instinct just now."
“I know,” Gou Qing said, blaming himself, “but I forgot its aggressiveness during this period.”
“This is something no one expected.” Yan Yuehe wanted to pat his head a little, since he was squatting at just the right height. “And it didn’t cause any serious problems. I was fine after the injection.”
Yan Yuehe's attempts to appease her were ineffective.
A tooth mark that broke the skin caused Gou Qing, who was usually calm and composed, to lose her sense of boundaries.
He was convinced that she couldn't walk on her own; either he had to carry her, or he had to rent a wheelchair—in short, her injured foot couldn't put weight on it.
Yan Yuehe's counterattack was more direct. After running for fifteen minutes, she ran barefoot into the living room.
She even jumped twice in front of Gou Qing, who had chased after her, saying, "I'm really fine, nothing's wrong with me."
"I believe you." Gou Qing let out a breath, still holding Yan Yuehe's slippers in his hand. "Come over here and put your shoes on, the floor is cold."
"It's only early autumn, it's not that cold yet." Yan Yuehe walked up to him. "Put your shoes down."
Gou Qing bent down and placed the shoes in front of her feet, watching her put them on: "I'm going to call Yu Zhi and tell him about the situation."
"Go ahead, go ahead." Yan Yuehe desperately needed to be alone right now.
She wasn't sure if she was showing it, but starting from her feet, a tingling sensation went straight to the top of her head, making her feel like she was floating in the air, unable to reach the ground.
She bent the foot that had been touched many times, placed her hand on it, and rubbed it a couple of times, as if trying to erase the strange feeling that another person had given it.
But it's difficult.
Just like her three meals a day, once things settled down, if she missed even one meal, her body would cry out in protest against her owner's neglect.
Yan Yuehe lowered her legs and put her feet back on the ground. She leaned back on the sofa chair, not thinking about anything.
Yan Yuehe tilted her head; it was her dog son, who was severely obsessed with love.
She ignored it and continued to try to forget the faint sensation on her ankle by clearing her mind.
A damp and warm sensation covered her, startling Yan Yuehe so much that she instinctively lifted her foot.
She sat up straight, and her dog son looked completely innocent, sticking out his pink tongue.
"Woof woof woof!" Mommy, I'm licking your wounds.
Fatty wagged its tail and nuzzled its big head against the wall, looking like it wanted to lick again.
"No, no, no!" She appreciated her son's filial piety, but this was unacceptable.
Yan Yuehe hugged her dog son's head: "I didn't mean to blame your wife. You don't need to fawn over me. Go play with Atlas, okay?"
Don't try to ambush her.
After Gou Qing hung up the phone, she heard her softly coaxing Pang Bao.
The same thing happened when they walked Pangbao together before. He wanted to teach Pangbao some commands while walking the dog, but Pangbao, that yellow-haired dog, was very clever. When he gave a command, Pangbao would do it properly; but when Yan Yuehe gave a command, it would dawdle and act cute.
But Yan Yuehe falls for this.
Gou Qing used to dislike Pang Bao because of Atlas, but now she's jealous of Pang Bao because of Yan Yuehe.
In short, their magnetic fields are incompatible, and they cannot be alone in the same space.
Originally reluctant to leave and wanting to express his filial piety, Fatty smelled the man's scent and immediately wisely tucked his tail between his legs and ran away.
Just as Yan Yuehe breathed a sigh of relief, she heard Gou Qing's voice behind her: "What just happened?"
Yan Yuehe turned her head, and said with a mix of embarrassment and pride, "Pangbao saw that I was injured and came over to lick my wound."
Gou Qing: ...
After hearing the whole story, Yu Zhi facepalmed and exclaimed, "Fatty's mom, you're so unlucky!"
It's rare to be "attacked" by two puppies in a row.
After Yan Yuehe received her injection, Gou Qing took her home.
Not long after, the reluctant Fatty was also brought back by Gou Qing.
“I’ll bring you food these next few days, so don’t come to my place.” Gou Qing didn’t want her to move around too much. “As for the puppies, I’m thinking of getting rid of them all.”
Since they haven't named them yet, it means they haven't started developing a relationship.
"Gou Qing, you can't do this." Yan Yuehe only called him by his name when she was angry or unhappy; otherwise, she would still call him "Dog In-law." "You promised to leave a puppy behind."
“Atlas didn’t make a choice,” Gou Qing said. “It’s not realistic to keep all the puppies; we don’t have the energy to provide them with a better life.”
He seemed to want to grab her hand, but Yan Yuehe took a step back.
“They will be fine at the base, and you can go see them anytime you want.”
Yan Yuehe stared into Gou Qing's eyes, shook her head, and said nothing more.
Atlas is Gou Qing's little dog, and he has more right than her to decide where Atlas's puppies go.
Yan Yuehe has always been very clear about this.
So when Gou Qing told her that he would take care of all the puppies when their relationship was strained, she accepted it without hesitation.
But now Gou Qing has changed his mind.
He said it was because Atlas didn't make a choice, but that sounded like a very flimsy excuse.
Because of her silence, the two did not argue, but simply said goodbye quietly.
Yan Yuehe regretted that she had enjoyed her comfortable life too much in the past and had not accumulated a substantial savings, so she couldn't say, "Give them to me. If you don't want to raise them, give them to me. I will raise them well."
She sat down on the floor with her baby in her arms, saying, "Mommy seems a little useless."
Fatty was sturdy and it felt very satisfying to hold him. She leaned against her dog son, not knowing whether she was lying to herself or to Fatty: "He's just a nameless little dog who hasn't really recognized anyone yet."
Fatty barked twice, looking very eager to go play in the yard.
Yan Yuehe's sadness was stuck in her chest by her "scumbag" son, leaving her feeling neither up nor down, and somewhat speechless.
Just as she was wondering if she had become too sentimental because of being in love, the doorbell, which rarely rings, rang.
Yan Yuehe got up from the ground, cautiously looked through the peephole, and then slowly opened the door.
What are you doing here again?
"I didn't leave." Gou Qing bent down and reached out to wipe away the tears from the corners of her eyes. "Are you that angry? You've made me cry?"
Yan Yuehe tilted her head back and stubbornly said, "I'm not angry. I cried because the injection hurt too much."
She didn't even realize she was crying.
It's so useless.
Gou Qing pulled her into his arms.
His fingers slid down her hair, and he gently patted her back, as if a sigh was falling.
"Nong Nong, don't be angry with me."
