Chapter 10. Don't come any closer.
Atlas was the most well-behaved puppy Yan Yuehe had ever seen, but at this moment its condition was visibly terrible.
Even though Yan Yuehe wasn't familiar with it, she could sense its restlessness.
"Atlas should be having puppies in about two weeks, right?" Yan Yuehe silently counted the dates Gou Qing had mentioned before. She frowned slightly, her voice filled with obvious anxiety. "Shouldn't it be resting at home more?"
She quietly weighed the options in her mind: her own dog son's emotional needs were important, but her dog daughter-in-law was pregnant and her health should obviously be the top priority.
Gou Qing's hand had already fallen to his sides. He shook his head and said, "I have to go out for a walk."
He paused, then explained in detail: "Moderate exercise is very beneficial for it now. Ordinary puppies need exercise to release energy and maintain muscle mass, and pregnant female dogs need even more exercise, which can promote gastrointestinal motility, prevent constipation, and give them more strength during delivery, reducing the probability of dystocia."
He knows a lot.
Yan Yuehe's eyes lit up slightly as she listened, and she genuinely admired her: "You're amazing."
you are cute.
Gou Qing sighed silently in his heart.
He had no experience in dating, let alone in interacting with girls he liked.
Even though her heart was already bursting with excitement at the mention of Yan Yuehe's name, her face remained stiff. She didn't know what expression to make, and only whispered, "It's nothing."
Gou Qing suddenly remembered something, raised her other hand and waved it, trying to remain natural: "Oh right, this is some fruit slices I brought for you. They're freshly cut and still fresh. You can put them in the refrigerator's crisper drawer and eat them when you come back from walking the dog."
Yan Yuehe was clearly stunned for a moment, her mind going blank for a instant.
Her eyes flickered slightly, and she deliberately slowed her speech, asking with a hint of barely perceptible wariness, "Why did you bring this to me?"
"I just bought too much, cut up three or four boxes, and I can't finish them today, so I have to throw them away. What a waste." Gou Qing was also very proud, so he subconsciously made up a terrible excuse. He was so stubborn that he could go head-to-head with the sharpest spear in the world.
The alarm radar went silent.
Yan Yuehe quietly let out a long sigh of relief, her tense shoulders relaxing slightly. She then raised a polite and courteous smile and accepted the food container he handed her with both hands: "Thank you, dear in-law."
The two walked towards the lake with their dog.
There was a breeze by the lake, which felt very comfortable.
The two people walking side by side were quiet, while the two dogs in front of them barked occasionally, creating a harmonious atmosphere.
However, Yan Yuehe was inexplicably anxious.
Despite the height difference between them, they still occasionally bump into each other by accident.
Sometimes it was her elbow lightly brushing against his upper arm, sometimes the back of her hand brushing against his fingers hanging at his side, and sometimes Yan Yuehe didn't even have time to distinguish the specific location of the touch before they separated again.
Skin to skin, this completely crossed the social boundaries she held in mind.
Gou Qing glanced at her sideways. The girl's face was flushed an unnatural red, spreading from her cheeks all the way to the tips of her ears, even turning her ears a light pink: "Are you hot?"
Yan Yuehe hurriedly looked up: "It's alright."
Quiet returned, with only the whimpering of a small dog echoing by the lake.
Stay calm.
This was just an accident.
If the son hadn't been so close to his wife, they wouldn't have bumped into each other.
The two of them walked slower and slower.
Atlas's walking rhythm always changes with its owner's pace, but Fatty is different; it's naturally impatient.
It hopped around its "wife" Atlas for a long time, then looked up and realized that the group had only moved forward a few meters.
It tilted its head and shook its ears, full of doubt: Why do people walk so slowly?
Mom, hurry up and hurry up!
It even nudged Yan Yuehe's legs with its round head, its force almost making her stumble.
"Alright, alright, hurry up." As soon as her dog son stuck out his butt, Yan Yuehe knew what kind of fart he was going to let out.
She is a parent who completely spoils her pets.
When Gou Qing thought about how she had been pulled down by this stupid dog before, his gaze towards Pang Bao became more disdainful. He couldn't help but ask, "Don't you train your puppy?"
"Training?" Yan Yuehe was bewildered, her eyes filled with confusion. "What does a puppy need to be trained for?"
“The most basic thing is to follow instructions.” Gou Qing casually gave an example, “such as sitting down, shaking hands, and not moving.”
Yan Yuehe listened, stunned: "It sounds a bit like the 'at ease,' 'attention,' and 'marching' drills we had during our military training in school."
She thought for a moment and asked, "But what's the use of the puppy learning this?"
Yan Yuehe had very low requirements for Pangbao, so low that they were almost non-existent.
As long as Pangbao doesn't bother others or cause trouble, she respects its puppy nature.
Gou Qing said, "For example, your Pangbao. Every time it gets excited, it pulls on the leash and rushes forward, making you stumble more than once or twice, right? Even if you don't think it's a big deal, what if one day you're not there, or you can't control it, and it runs wildly on the road with cars coming and going?"
“Training a puppy is like teaching a child; it's essentially about establishing basic rules for them, letting them know what they can and cannot do. This isn't about harming them, but about ensuring their safety.”
Yan Yuehe felt that she was somewhat persuaded by her dog-like in-laws.
Because of her personal circumstances, she hardly knows any dog owners, let alone exchanges dog-raising experiences with them.
I never expected that the father-in-law that Fatty Dog found for himself would be so reliable.
With a serious expression, Yan Yuehe humbly asked, "Then how should we train?"
Atlas is only a few months older than Fatty, so they can barely be considered to be of similar age.
Gou Qing said calmly, "Training by the master himself is the best. If you trust me, I can take you to my friend's dog training center for lessons next time."
Yan Yuehe asked curiously, "Does Atlas train there too?"
Gou Qing nodded: "Yes, it not only trained there, but it was also born there."
"Then you can invite me next time you go."
The chubby boy, who was circling around Atlas, wanting to get up and give him a "kiss," was completely unaware that he was about to be sent to "school."
This silly dog may often have good luck, but it's bound to run into a father-in-law who has high expectations of it, so it's likely that it will have to follow some "rules" from now on.
The dog walk went smoothly.
Fatty was in a great mood. He chased his tail around the yard twice, and then rolled over on the ground with his belly up.
Yan Yuehe breathed a sigh of relief and, taking advantage of the fact that her dog son wasn't causing trouble, quickly got to work at her desk.
She was bursting with inspiration and had an excellent feel for things today. By the time she felt her stomach was empty, it was already dark outside the window.
Yay, I've finished two days' worth of work!
Who's the biggest hero? Of course, it's the well-behaved and adorable chubby baby!
Yan Yuehe washed her hands, buried her face in its furry neck and took two deep breaths before heading to the kitchen to find food, feeling hungry.
After being in the refrigerator for seven or eight hours, some of the fruit had already begun to oxidize slightly on the surface.
But it's still edible.
Yan Yuehe took it out, intending to have it for dinner.
I had just eaten a piece of mango when my phone rang.
Ms. He Yanli called.
As soon as the call connected, Ms. He Yanli's hurried voice came from the other end: "Nongnong, you didn't forget your physical exam tomorrow, did you?"
"I haven't forgotten." Yan Yuehe chewed and picked up another strawberry.
He Yanli continued to worry: "As long as you haven't forgotten, you know the address, right?"
Yan Yuehe was both amused and exasperated: "I go every year, I'm not stupid."
There's a kind of love in the world that your mother thinks you don't know.
He Yanli wished she could go with Yan Yuehe, but she had to go on a business trip tomorrow: "Not bad, you even knew to buy fruit today. Take good care of yourself, and remember to send me the results of your medical examination as soon as they come out."
Upon hearing the last sentence, Yan Yuehe felt like dying for a moment, and tried to protest in a low voice: "Does it have to be posted? This is my privacy..."
He Yanli immediately straightened her face and her tone became harsher: "Do you think I want to see this? Every year when I see your medical report, my blood pressure rises significantly! If you can't even take care of yourself, you should just go home and live here!"
Seeing that Yan Yuehe only dared to eat in silence for a long time, He Yanli's worries increased.
"Forget it, I always feel like you'd smudge the medical checkup if you're alone. I'll have your dad go with you tomorrow."
Yan Yuehe: ? Falsified medical examination?
Her mother dared to think about it, but she wouldn't dare to do it.
Yan Yuehe politely declined, saying, "I can really manage on my own."
Ms. He Yanli transferred 10,000 yuan to her.
“Mom, I love you.” Yan Yuehe’s eyes lit up: “Let Dad come, I just happen to miss him.”
"Then remember to roll off all the dog hair on yourself before you go out," He Yanli instructed. "Don't send your dad to the hospital."
He Yanli and Yan Yuehe both love puppies, but Yan Min is allergic to dog hair, which is a small regret in the family.
So after Yan Yuehe moved out, He Yanli was very supportive of her daughter raising a puppy.
For her poor dad who is allergic to dog hair, Yan Yuehe hugged her chubby baby's big head and rubbed it several times after getting up in the morning, satisfying her dog-cuddling craving before taking a shower. After showering, she carefully rolled a lint roller all over her clothes to make sure there was no dog hair stuck to them before leaving the house.
Yan Yuehe doesn't own a car, so naturally she didn't rent a parking space in the community.
The community has strict vehicle control, so Yan Min could only park her car at the entrance and walk in to pick up her daughter.
“Going out? Yesterday’s fruit…” Gou Qing was standing downstairs with Atlas in her hand. When she saw Yan Yuehe come out, she was about to go forward when she heard her hurried voice.
Yan Yuehe was startled when she saw Atlas and quickly shouted, "Don't come any closer!"
She could already see her father, fully armed with gloves and a mask, walking towards her.
So he quickly turned to Gou Qing and said in a flash, "My dear dog, I have something to do today, so I can't walk the dog with you. See you tomorrow!"
As soon as she finished speaking, without waiting for Gou Qing's response, she immediately took a large detour to avoid Atlas's direction.
Gou Qing stood there, his face gradually darkening, watching her hurry to a short distance away and familiarly take the arm of the tall man.
A note from the author:
Gou Qing: Family, was it really just wishful thinking on my part?
