Chapter 21 Fantasy Amusement Park (3)
Su Yue quietly poked his head out from behind Cangzhi's shoulder and secretly observed the situation on the float scene.
Cang Zhi continued to try to stand in front of him.
Su Yue: "..."
Su Yue did faint at the sight of blood a long time ago, but that was really a long, long time ago.
He was a sickly little kid then, but he is no longer that now.
Cang Zhi's blocking of the view actually affected his ability to observe the scene.
Su Yue was a little distressed, and sighed, controlling his voice to a volume that only he and Cang Zhi could hear: "Your puppet is not listening, right?"
Cang Zhi:!
Cang Zhi immediately and obediently moved his shoulder away.
.
At the float site, a group of staff members rushed up.
Several people grabbed the shoulders of the male rabbit mascot who was slashing people and pushed him into a car surrounded by iron fences. The male rabbit had completely lost his previous fierce look and obediently followed the staff into the car, as if it was not him who had slashed people with a knife just now.
Some staff members also rushed onto the float very skillfully with dustpans, shovels and woven bags to clean up the mess on the float.
The weather was very cold, so the blood coagulated quickly and was easy to shovel away.
Soon, if you didn't pay attention to the traces left by the beads and flowers on the float that were violently removed because the blood stains could not be cleaned off, you would never realize that a murder had just occurred here a few minutes ago.
"Safety accident! Another safety accident!" The deputy manager was still very excited, shouting into the intercom. After shouting, he suddenly turned around and stared at Su Yue and the other three. "You are in trouble now! You are in big trouble!"
He waved his hands and held his neck erect as he spoke, and this, combined with his shrill, noisy voice, gave him the air of an excited crow.
After all, someone had died and the scene was in chaos, but there was also a strange calmness in the chaos.
Except for the two mascot puppets who ran away in panic and reacted relatively normally, the rest of the NPCs, whether they were the staff who came over quickly and handled the scene in an orderly manner, or the deputy manager who was shouting here emotionally, they didn't seem to care how the tester died, nor did they care about the fact that "someone died" itself.
All they care about is that something went wrong with the safety test and someone is going to get into trouble.
It seems that here, it is very normal for a few people to die during security testing.
The deputy manager was obviously unhappy because of the safety accident, perhaps because he would also be punished. With a cold face, he drove the electric car to send Su Yue, Cang Zhi and Zhao Shuo to the door of the employee dormitory area, left a sentence "You guys wish you good luck", and drove away again.
.
Probably to cater to the fairy-tale atmosphere, even the decorations outside the staff accommodation area in the amusement park are very exaggerated, giving it a sense of amusement.
On the roof of the staff dormitory building, there is a huge stand in the shape of a child, which looks like a naughty big-faced doll lying on the roof and looking down.
But the doll's smile was extremely exaggerated, with the corners of its mouth almost raised to the roots of its ears, and its wide-open, shiny black eyes completely created the uncanny valley effect. It didn't look playful at all, and its expression looked more like it wanted to eat up the building and everyone in it.
The staff cafeteria next door looked a little better, with a cream-colored sign featuring giant cartoon cupcakes and donuts.
This little dessert won't evoke any sense of fear, except that the cherry on top of the cupcake is blood red, and with the rest of the sign in low-saturation colors, it looks like it's about to drip off the sign at any moment.
There was an employee standing at the entrance of the cafeteria, with a label on his chest that also read "Deputy Manager".
It seems that there are quite a lot of deputy managers here, some are in charge of safety testing, and some are responsible for logistics.
"Are you from Group 1?" The deputy manager at the cafeteria entrance looked at the signs on Su Yue and the others' chests. "You came back early today."
"Where are the other groups?" Su Yue asked familiarly, "Are they still not back?"
"No, and I'm not sure if I can come back." The deputy manager grinned. "If the safety incident is serious, I might not be able to come back."
This deputy manager, just like the previous deputy manager of security testing and those staff members, did not take the death seriously at all.
"Do safety accidents often happen here?" Su Yue asked tentatively.
"Of course." The deputy manager smiled even more broadly, revealing his mouthful of sharp white teeth. "Because our place is haunted."
.
Inside the cafeteria, there are small private rooms, just like the private rooms you see in a restaurant.
There is a sign saying "Group X" on the door of each single room, which seems to indicate that different groups do not eat together.
The doors of the other single rooms were all closed. As the deputy manager said, "People from other groups haven't come back yet," and no one knew whether they would be able to come back.
The corridor has wooden floors, which make a creaking sound when you step on them. Candles are burning on the walls on both sides, giving it the feeling of a corridor in an ancient castle.
Su Yue asked: "Can you tell me what projects the testers from other groups are testing?"
"I don't know. I'm just in charge of the cafeteria." The cafeteria's deputy manager chuckled sinisterly. "If you want to know, you'll have to ask the manager in charge of safety testing, but he might not tell you. Besides, even if he knew, it would be useless. They might have already had an accident."
"Because there are ghosts here?" Su Yue asked.
"Because there are ghosts here." The canteen's deputy manager said affirmatively.
"Where are the ghosts in this amusement park?" Su Yue asked again.
The canteen's deputy manager thought for a moment and said decisively, "There are ghosts everywhere."
.
Walking to the single room with the sign “Group One”, the manager pushed the door open.
The room was much more spacious than expected. There was a round table in the middle, covered with a snow-white tablecloth. There was even a tall candlestick that only appeared in TV dramas. Tableware was placed on all four sides of the table: silver knives and forks, snow-white carved porcelain plates, tall wine glasses, and napkins folded into elegant flower patterns.
However, there were four sets of tableware, but there were only three people in the room.
Zhao Shuo immediately looked at Su Yue for help. He was not sure if there would be a seat that was not open to others.
After leaving the Mountain Village game, he took the time to watch a lot of horror games and movies, in order to avoid accidentally stepping into some "winning" level of bad luck routine.
But Su Yue was not so cautious, or perhaps it could be said that he was bold because of his skill. He pulled out a chair and sat down. After a few seconds, he said to Cang Zhi and Zhao Shuo, "Sit down."
So Cang Zhi sat on Su Yue's left, Zhao Shuo sat on Su Yue's right, and the three of them sat down.
There were three people and four chairs, and the empty one happened to be the one facing the door.
The three of them had just sat down when the deputy manager at the door suddenly pulled out a walkie-talkie and said, "The first group of testers has arrived. Let's prepare to eat."
After saying this, he didn't give the three any time to ask him any questions. He turned around and closed the door. Only the sound of his footsteps could be clearly heard as he walked away in the corridor.
After a while, Zhao Shuo said with a grim expression, "You mean there's no one at this position?"
"It looks like that," Su Yue replied. The deputy manager had already said, "All the testers in the first group have arrived," so no more people would come.
So the extra set of tableware belongs to...
Zhao Shuo's expression turned even uglier. "So, who was the one that was chopped by the mascot?"
"Maybe it's our original teammate." Su Yue confirmed Zhao Shuo's idea.
.
The food was served quickly. The amusement park was very kind to its employees and the dinner was very sumptuous.
The table was filled with delicious fish and meat, and there were even desserts and wine. The freshly baked chicken had crispy skin and tender meat, and was served with apple slices. The crispy and sweet aroma filled the air.
But after witnessing the severed heads and bodies, and remembering the bloodstains on the float's train, Zhao Shuo felt sick to his stomach at the sight of all that meat. Su Yue and Cang Zhi probably thought the same thing, so while the table was mostly filled with meat, they only drank the soup and ate a few vegetables.
I had just eaten a little when the door was pushed open with a bang.
A loud speaker was thrust into the room, and a sharp squeaking noise echoed through the room for a moment. Then a voice rang out from the speaker: "Group One! Are you Group One?"
Although the room was not small, it was a bit too closed for the loudspeaker. The sound made his head hurt. Su Yue frowned, stood up, and saw the manager he met at the beginning walk in.
The manager held a loudspeaker in his right hand and a work form in his left hand. Compared to the previous work form, there were several more crosses drawn on it with a thick red pen.
"Yes." Su Yue replied, "What is it?"
"Who is your team leader?" the manager asked while holding a loudspeaker.
The loudspeaker he was using was of poor quality and made a sharp noise when he spoke. This was clearly a single room with only four of them in it, but he still insisted on using the loudspeaker to speak, as if he was afraid of disturbing someone.
The issue of whether to be a team leader or not has not been discussed before, but this does not need to be discussed in advance.
"I." Su Yue frowned, "Can you put down the speaker first?"
The manager didn't look like someone who was easy to get along with, but after being yelled at by Su Yue, he was stunned and actually put down the loudspeaker, but he still had a stern face, and his gray eyes stared straight at Su Yue.
"Your team failed the safety test, and someone needs to be punished," said the manager.
"What is the punishment?" Zhao Shuo asked.
"I'll do it." Cangzhi stood up.
The manager ignored them completely and grabbed Zhuyue's wrist without explanation. "Since you are the team leader, you are responsible for this accident. Come with me."
——
Walking along a long path along the perimeter of the park, Su Yue and the manager finally arrived in front of a building shaped like a European library. The manager kept complaining, always about "safety incidents," but Su Yue pretended not to hear.
There was a staff member standing in front of the building's gate. Not surprisingly, the badge he was wearing also read "Deputy Manager".
This deputy manager gave people a particularly uncomfortable feeling. When he stared at people, his eyes rolled around like a mouse peeking out its head.
"Another new hire!" the manager pushed Su Yue in front of the deputy manager and shouted impatiently, "This is unbearable! Can't these people properly conduct safety tests?"
Compared to the manager's irritability, the deputy manager seemed much happier. He smiled at Su Yue and said, "Great, why don't you come and help organize the warehouse?"
.
It was already dark, and Su Yue followed the deputy manager into the warehouse building.
This place is like an old library with poor lighting. The floor is made of slightly green spotted tiles. There are some old wooden shelves on both sides of the hall, and many staff members are tidying them up there.
The reason why I knew they were staff members at first glance was that, like the deputy manager, they had a rat-like temperament. As soon as Su Yue entered the room, they all turned their heads and looked at him curiously.
"There are a lot of old things in the amusement park that need to be cleaned up," the deputy manager said. "You will go and sort them out today—"
There was a box on the wooden shelf. He reached in and pulled out a card with a number on it. He showed it to Su Yueliang and said, "Tidy up warehouse No. 520."
"Okay." Su Yue asked, "Where is it?"
"Follow me." said the deputy manager.
Su Yue glanced straight past the staff who were watching him and walked through the corridor with the deputy manager.
When Su Yue entered the corridor, he knew something was wrong, because one side of the corridor was a wall, and the other side was a whole row of elevator doors, and they were very old elevators.
The deputy manager pressed the button next to one of the elevator doors. He could clearly hear the slow "clang" sound of the elevator car moving from bottom to top, and then the elevator door slowly opened.
There are no walls but fences on all four sides of the elevator, and of course no lights. All the light comes in from the corridor. Once the elevator door is closed, it is completely dark inside.
The mottled and rusty iron fence of the elevator car and the pitch-black steel structure of the elevator shaft were intertwined, like a giant beast hiding in the darkness. Su Yue took a look inside through the elevator door. He didn't know how deep the elevator shaft was. It was pitch black above and below.
"Take the elevator down to the bottom floor, and you'll find Warehouse 520," the deputy manager said. "You can find it yourself."
Su Yue: "..."
That’s great, it’s the dark elevator that he fears the most.
He now seriously suspected that this bastard was playing tricks on him.
Just as I was thinking this, there was a sudden commotion of squeaking in the hallway outside.
Su Yue and the deputy manager looked over at the same time and saw Cang Zhi striding through the group of employees who were secretly looking at him and walking straight towards Su Yue.
I don’t know if it’s because the group of employees next to him are too vulgar or what, but when Cang Zhi walked over like this, the light falling on him made him look a little handsome.
