Chapter 229: Final Battle (Part 1)
Qi Wujiu looked at Su Yue and smiled.
Just before he showed this smile, Su Yue still had expectations in his heart, like what was in front of him was an illusion, someone was pretending to be Qi Wujiu, but Qi Wujiu's smile now was no different from the expression he had when he was eating hot pot at Su Yue's house, even the fine lines under his eyes were vivid and exactly the same.
So Su Yue's heart sank completely.
"I don't want to hide it from you completely, but I still hope you can know." Qi Wujiu said, "It would be boring if no one witnessed all this. Fortunately, you are smart enough to come here to see me. No... I should say that you are smarter than I thought."
Qi Wujiu said, "You have guessed the true solution to the chessboard."
Su Yue and Qi Wujiu looked at each other across the chessboard. When Qi Wujiu was telling the confessions of these villains, Su Yue was thinking much more in his mind than what he heard with his ears.
Su Yue thought that the Academy of Classics was the only institution that had a deep understanding of the gaming world. Although Qi Wujiu, as the divine teacher of the Academy of Classics, always evaded the question by saying that "the gaming world is like a mess of codes", it was obvious that Qi Wujiu had lied to him and that he knew a lot about the gaming world.
Su Yue thought it was no wonder that more and more strange phenomena appeared in the world, because if Su Yue really completed all the problematic games, the world would be completely black like that chessboard.
But at the last moment, Su Yue guessed this from the hint given by Qi Wujiu through the mouth of the toy rabbit, so he brought the progress of mending the game world to 100% with a "failure" ending.
Thus, the world that should have been black was dyed white, and the rift between the ghost clan and the human world was sealed. From then on, humans became humans and ghosts became ghosts.
When Su Yue thought about these things, he felt more absurd.
Even though Qi Wujiu was right in front of him, wearing his familiar smile and speaking familiar words, Su Yue still felt that it didn't feel real. If it weren't for the divine power emanating from Qi Wujiu that couldn't be faked, he would almost think that the person in front of him was an illusion.
How come the divine master who does nothing and makes jokes all day long suddenly becomes the boss behind the scenes?
This is something that Su Yue finds even harder to understand than the highest difficulty game world.
"So your real identity is a ghost?" Su Yue asked.
"Of course I am a god." Qi Wujiu replied with a smile.
"Then why are you...?" Su Yue was even more puzzled. His gaze briefly shifted to the chessboard, then to Qi Wujiu. "Is it because your daily life is too boring that you want to find a game to play?"
.
Cang Zhi and Qi Wujiu's relationship was not that good. In fact, they didn't even have any friendship before Cang Zhi came to this department.
But Cang Zhi knew that Su Yue and Qi Wujiu had a good relationship. He also knew that although Su Yue's face did not show it, and perhaps he had not yet realized it in his heart, Qi Wujiu's appearance on the other side of the chessboard was undoubtedly a huge blow to Su Yue.
So, in order to comfort Su Yue who was now on the verge of collapse, Cang Zhi held his hand gently but firmly.
Qi Wujiu on the opposite side could of course also see this scene, and this scene seemed to stimulate him to some extent.
A black crow flew silently across the sky. Qi Wujiu pressed his fingers on the zither, veins bulging slightly from the pressure. He raised the corners of his lips and smiled gently, "Since you can act recklessly without paying attention to the consequences, I can certainly act recklessly too, right, Lord God?"
Su Yue: "..."
He was so stunned by the call of "Lord God" that he didn't even have time to object to Qi Wujiu's rogue logic.
Su Yue thought, no way, could it be that Qi Wujiu actually had a grudge against Cang Zhi, so he deliberately stayed friendly with his ex all these years? What kind of bloody undercover revenge plot was this?
But then Su Yue realized that no matter Qi Wujiu was answering questions or calling him "Lord God", his eyes were always fixed on him and he never looked at Cang Zhi at all.
What a strange form of interaction this is. If you want to talk, just look at the other person.
Su Yue was complaining in his heart, but he saw Qi Wujiu still looking at him with a smile. Suddenly, he was shocked and had a very outrageous idea:
Could it be that Qi Wujiu's so-called "Lord God" was calling him?
No, Cang Zhi is the main god. There cannot be two main gods in one divine realm, and Su Yue’s understanding of the main god comes entirely from the books in the Academy of Classics.
It is said above that the Lord God is born in the divine realm. After being blessed by the gods, he is secretly taught and trained by the divine master until he is sure that he has the power to become the Lord God. Only then will he descend to the divine realm as a young god.
Su Yue had never experienced any of these things. If he had to say, he only knew one divine master, and this divine master was different from the other divine master. Moreover, Su Yue had no memories of the period before he became a god...
Wait a moment.
Su Yue finally realized something. The idea that popped up in his mind was as absurd as Qi Wujiu being the final villain. It was absurd, but it seemed to make some sense.
He looked at Qi Wujiu in disbelief.
"Have you remembered anything?" Qi Wujiu lowered his head and smiled, his fingers casually plucking the strings of the zither.
A seemingly discordant melody flowed from the strings, but Su Yue suddenly had a severe headache. Along with the messy notes, a series of images came flooding back.
.
Clouds billowed across the divine realm, their thick edges rimmed with a faint golden glow, which, combined with the divine light, painted the entire space with a spacious and tranquil hue. The gods lined up on either side, as if awaiting something.
After a while, figures appeared on the open Shinto path. A young god, draped in a heavy black robe, walked in front. Divine Master Qi Wujiu, with his white hair tied up, followed demurely behind, his zither clutched in his left hand. The young god wore a silver veil. Only after crossing the seemingly endless Shinto path and entering the main deity's courtyard did he remove it with his slender, graceful fingers. He let out a long sigh, smiled, and said, "What a hassle! I almost couldn't hold it together just now."
The young god had the same beautiful face as Su Yue, as beautiful as spring.
Somewhere in the human world, in a humid and sweltering rainforest, giant trees towered to the sky, vines dangling from their trunks and branches. Humans lived there, their round, pointed-roofed houses built atop sturdy trees.
The young Lord God descended for the first time, landing gently on the ground. Though the ground here was a swamp capable of swallowing people, as a god, his movements were light, and the touch of his toes on the mud left only a small circular mark, which quickly returned to its original shape. When he arrived in the human world, the divine master would not accompany him. This was a brief moment of relief for the young Lord God. His mood was as light and joyful as his steps. He walked through the trees and houses, and suddenly noticed that in the square not far away, several young men were bullying an elderly man. Another young man tried to intervene, but was violently pushed away.
The boy was stronger than the others, but two fists were no match for four hands, and he was pinned to the ground. The young man picked up the borer in his hand, but after thinking for a moment, he didn't stuff it into the old man's ear, and instead walked towards the human boy.
The young Lord God frowned slightly, and with a snap of his fingers, divine light accurately hit the heart-boring insect, leaving burn marks on the hands of the bullies. Although the young men bullied the weak, they were as timid as mice. They were scared and ran away screaming. The young man got up and helped the old man up. He seemed to sense something and looked in the distance in the direction of the young Lord God.
The handsome young man with sharp eyebrows and bright eyes looked at the Lord God. That young man was Cang Zhi.
A large number of scenes emerged like a kaleidoscope. The young Lord God loved to visit the human world and "happened" to go there from time to time. Every time he would "happened" to meet Cang Zhi. Later, he hid very far away and found that Cang Zhi, except for eating and other things that required him to leave, even slept in the woods where they first met all day long, for fear of missing any meeting with Su Yue.
When he looked at Su Yue, there was a fiery look in his dark eyes, but he never said anything, and didn't even dare to think about it.
"Are you a god?" the young man Cang Zhi asked hesitantly.
Su Yue nodded, the corners of her light red lips curved slightly, and she conjured a green leaf at her fingertips as if to show off.
"Can an ordinary person become a god?" Cang Zhi asked.
Su Yue looked at him and asked, "Why do you want to become a god?"
He could certainly understand that gods represented powerful strength, eternal beauty, and a long life that was almost immortal. But he still wanted to ask.
Cang Zhi hesitated and looked away, as if what he was about to say next was offensive. A butterfly flew past them. Cang Zhi stretched out his hand, but in the end did not grab his wings.
Cang Zhi said, "I want to become a god, just because I really want to see what your daily life is like."
Then, under the guidance of the young Lord God, he secretly cultivated. This process was arduous and long. Su Yue could only provide him with a small amount of spiritual roots. The rest depended entirely on Cang Zhi's hard work and, when he was almost unable to hold on, his determination to "match him on equal footing." The young Lord God also cultivated. Only when he passed the Divine Master's assessment and was confirmed to have fully possessed the qualifications of a Lord God, could he remove his mask and meet the gods.
A roar echoed from the clouds, signaling the ascension of a new god. The young Lord God vaguely guessed who it was and tiptoed out of the courtyard. But before he even saw the new god, the Divine Master grabbed him by the collar. He turned around and met furious eyes.
"Are you crazy? You are the main god, why do you condescend to favor a human?" the divine master questioned him.
"Why did you share your pure divine power with him? Why did you help him ascend to godhood?"
"Is the world really that good? Is that human being really that good?"
Su Yue was brought to the black house in the courtyard.
Qi Wujiu's face was filled with anger, and there was even a blush on his pale face. The Lord God had supreme power after he came of age, but as long as he did not leave this courtyard, he still had to obey the teachings of the God Master.
Qi Wujiu pointed at the black room and said, "Go in. You have lost your godhood and failed the assessment. You must face the wall and reflect on your mistakes for ten years. Think carefully about who you should be looking at."
The confinement room was in permanent darkness, without any light. Su Yue sat cross-legged inside to practice. Qi Wujiu would come to see him every once in a while, but he could only talk to him through the wall.
"Your human was sent to suppress the unrest in the ghost world." Qi Wujiu said.
"Why?" Su Yue was shocked. "The turmoil in the ghost world has always required gods above the rank of Great God to suppress it. He is just a small god who has just ascended to the godhood. He will die."
"Because I said that if he could return with merit, the Divine Realm would hold a grand celebration, and even the imprisoned young god would be free again." Qi Wujiu chuckled softly, "Although the ghost world is dangerous, it's not a place where you can't escape death. Ah Yue, what if he really can withstand the test of the myriad ghosts gnawing at his heart, and even become stronger, completely transformed, and successfully return? Wouldn't you be very happy?"
From then on, the darkness in the confinement room became torment for Su Yue, and every minute and every second was painful.
After an unknown amount of time, Qi Wujiu said to him, "Your human is back, but... he's lost his memory. I told him that the young god had an acute illness and needed the nectar of the ghost world to heal him. He encountered a lightning catastrophe while trying to obtain the nectar and lost his heart. He survived, but lost all his emotions, memories, and so on."
Su Yue said, "I want to see him."
Qi Wujiu was silent for a moment, then his usually gentle tone suddenly became furious: "He doesn't even have a heart, and he's completely forgotten about you. He's just a lowly human, but you still want to see him? You'd rather see him than even look at me?"
Su Yue was quiet for a while, then said calmly, "I want to see him."
The long, seemingly endless darkness suddenly ended briefly. The soft natural light outside was so dazzling that Su Yue raised her hand to shield her eyes. When she finally adjusted to the daylight, Su Yue saw Qi Wujiu. Even though they had been at loggerheads during their conversation, he remained elegant and dignified, his white hair flowing smoothly over his shoulders. He smiled at Su Yue and offered her a glass of wine.
"Whether you want to see him or break up with him, drink this glass of wine." Qi Wujiu said, "This seems to be the custom in the human world."
The Divine Master taught Su Yue for many years, from how to behave in society to etiquette to combat skills. If it weren't for this incident that made Su Yue see a side of the Divine Master that was hard for him to accept, he would have respected and loved him forever.
Even a farewell should be solemn.
So Su Yue drank the glass of wine.
When he opened his eyes again, he was lying in a room, his mind a mess. He couldn't figure out who he was or where he was. He vaguely remembered that he was a god, but nothing else. Qi Wujiu appeared at the right time and told him gently that he was sick, and then asked to accompany Su Yue for a walk. Fate was such a coincidence. As soon as Su Yue left, he met other gods. They said to them happily, "The newly enthroned Lord God is about to return from exterminating demons. Would you like to go and see him together?"
At that time, Su Yue just thought that these words were quite fresh, and wondered who the Lord God was. It sounded very awesome, and he was also infected by the other party's enthusiasm.
He didn't notice Qi Wujiu's changing expression, smiled and said, "Let's go and take a look."
