Chapter 20
Sui Sui felt that his brother was a little strange today.
But what exactly was strange about it, Sui Sui touched his little head and couldn't tell.
When he got up in the morning, his brother dressed him in little clothes as usual and carried him to wash.
This morning's meal was meat paste, which Sui Sui didn't like. With a droopy face, he fiercely put the meat paste on the spoon into his mouth, chewed it, and swallowed it.
The elder brother scooped another spoonful of meat paste and handed it to Sui Sui's mouth, and Sui Sui hummed and opened his mouth.
"Be good, Sui Sui, you can't just eat fruit puree every day." His brother's slender and strong fingers gently rubbed his head, his voice very gentle.
Although Sui Sui didn't like meat paste, his brother fed him one spoonful after another with moderate force but with an irresistible tone. So, Sui Sui drowsily followed his brother's pace and finished the small bowl of meat paste.
"I'm full." Jiang Mingyan put down the small bowl, reached out to touch Sui Sui's round belly, and said with a smile.
Sui Sui pouted, but before he started to howl, Jiang Mingyan took out a washed Ning Ling fruit from the Lan Qiuying bracelet as if he had been prepared and handed it to Sui Sui's chubby little hand.
Sui Sui held the Ning Ling fruit in his arms like a little squirrel, glanced angrily at his handsome and gentle brother, and buried his head in eating the fruit.
Jiang Mingyan laughed, picked up his chopsticks and started eating.
After Jiang Mingyan finished eating, he took the dishes and chopsticks to the kitchen surrounded by the edge of the cave, put away the table and chairs, and stood aside. Sui Sui had just finished eating the Ningling fruit in his hand.
"Go ahead and play!" There was still some juice on the human cub's cheeks, but his heart had already flown out of the cave and flew towards the bright sunshine and green grass outside.
Jiang Mingyan took out a soft cloth and wiped the cat's soft face with amusement, saying in an indulgent tone, "Why are you in such a hurry? Can't you lock Sui Sui up at home?"
Suisui finished eating a Ningling fruit. The little grievance he felt when his brother chased him and fed him meat paste this morning has been coaxed away, and he is now a good kid again.
"Brother, hug me~"
So, the little guy stretched out his baby voice, tilted his round face up, and stared at Jiang Mingyan with his big eyes blinking, like a kitten circling around a person's feet and meowing.
Jiang Mingyan smiled and picked up Sui Sui: "Yes, hug me."
"Come on, let's go out and play for a while."
But he did not walk towards the cave entrance immediately. Instead, he walked to the lake first and looked at the Hypericum and Hemoclotting Herb with their tendrils stretched out in the lake.
Sui Sui was already very familiar with this part. He directed the Hypericum jasminoides and the hemoclotting grass to move their roots to the lakeside and then shrink their bodies.
Jiang Mingyan picked up the shrunken Hypericum and Hemoclotting Herb, wiped off the remaining lake water on them, and handed them to Sui Sui.
Suisui placed the two spiritual plants on his fat wrists, and they became two strange bracelets.
"Okay~ Brother, let's go~" After making sure that the green-leafed Hypericum and the hemoclotting grass would not leave his back, Sui Sui said impatiently with his dark round eyes flashing.
"Let's go now." Jiang Mingyan gently tapped the little guy's nose and walked out.
After walking through the long corridor, Jiang Mingyan took out the backpack and put Sui Sui in it. He climbed down the steep slope, and then went around the solitary peak that towered into the clouds. Then he saw a field of lush green grass bathed in sunshine and swaying in the wind.
"Ah!" The little guy cheered, lifted his little feet, and looked at his brother eagerly: "Play~"
Jiang Mingyan glanced at the two 'bracelets' on Sui Sui Pang's wrists, making sure they were firmly fastened and would not fall off, then he bent down and put the little guy down.
Suisui had curved eyebrows and eyes, and waved his short arms and legs, like a nimble little rabbit, and crawled to the center of the grass.
Looking at the little guy who was entertaining himself, Jiang Mingyan's deep and handsome eyebrows were filled with tenderness.
He sat down on the grass. The cheerful laughter of the chubby little boy playing around not far away filled the air, making his heart feel sweet.
The clouds are light and the wind is gentle, and the sun is warm.
Jiang Mingyan rarely relaxed his tense heartstrings and quietly enjoyed the tranquility of time.
"Yeah, Guoguo~"
When the little guy's happy voice came, Jiang Mingyan suddenly realized that Suisui had reached the edge of the grass without him noticing.
He stood up, strode over, and with a long arm, he scooped up the soft little guy and held him in his arms: "What is it, Guoguo?"
"Look~" Suisui raised her fisted little hand and motioned Jiang Mingyan to look.
Sui Sui held a small purple fruit the size of a fingernail in her hand. The spiritual energy that was about to burst out was hidden under the thin skin. It was shiny and lustrous. Just looking at it made her mouth water.
"Where did Guoguo come from?" Jiang Mingyan frowned, not daring to relax easily.
"There..." Sui Sui pointed to the ground with his free chubby hand.
Jiang Mingyan looked in the direction Suisui pointed.
A palm-sized leaf holding four purple fruits lay quietly on the moist black soil.
Jiang Mingyan recognized the leaf and looked at the towering trees with intertwined branches in front of the grass.
Several lush and green giant trees were motionless, looking very steady and reliable, as if they were not the trees that had stretched out their branches and twisted them into the shapes of small animals to tease the cubs while their parents were not paying attention.
"Guoguo, were these big trees given to Suisui?" Jiang Mingyan asked the little fat boy.
"Yeah~" Suisui nodded with a serious face: "They, okay, let's have some porridge~"
Jiang Mingyan relaxed a little.
I don’t know why, but Sui Sui has a strange affinity for spiritual plants. This is true for Hypericum vinifera and Hemoclotting Herb, and I think it’s the same for these giant trees.
"Okay, brother will help Sui Sui put it away first." Jiang Mingyan said.
"No..." Sui Sui shook his head. He grabbed Jiang Mingyan's arm and put the purple fruit in Xiao Rou's hand to Jiang Mingyan's mouth: "Brother, time."
"Brother doesn't want to eat it." Jiang Mingyan rubbed Sui Sui's furry little head and refused with a smile.
These purple fruits were given to Sui Sui by the giant tree, and they don’t look like ordinary things.
It just so happened that he was still looking for spiritual objects to strengthen Sui Sui's bones. Now with these purple fruits, he could get a few days of respite.
Jiang Mingyan has already made up his mind to make these purple fruits into puree and feed them to Sui Sui.
However, Jiang Mingyan's idea is not Sui Sui's idea.
"Times!" The little fat boy pouted his face, his voice was childish but his tone was firm, and he looked very serious.
Jiang Mingyan wanted to refuse, but Sui Sui was determined to get what he wanted. If he refused to eat, the little guy would wriggle in his arms and repeatedly nudge Jiang Mingyan's chin with his little head.
Jiang Mingyan was so embarrassed by the little fat boy that he didn't know whether to laugh or cry. His heart felt so soft that it almost melted into water.
After another failed attempt to bend over and pick up the purple fruit on the ground, Jiang Mingyan surrendered: "Okay, I'll eat it. I won't bother you anymore, okay?"
"Hmph~" The little fat boy made a baby sound, seeming a little angry, but his action of putting the purple fruit into Jiang Mingyan's mouth was not slow at all, and his short little hands were raised very quickly.
As soon as the purple fruit entered the mouth, it quickly turned into a slightly cool spiritual stream that passed through the throat.
Abundant spiritual energy poured in, and the dry meridians cheered and desperately absorbed the spiritual energy.
Although Jiang Mingyan had already thought of the extraordinary nature of the purple fruit, he was still shocked for a moment.
He looked at the little fat baby in his arms who was looking at him eagerly, feeling a little regretful.
If he had known this, he should have been more determined and left the purple fruit to Sui Sui. He thought that Sui Sui's strength would be better polished.
But now that things have come to this, Jiang Mingyan's eyes became serious.
He will work harder to find other spiritual objects to fill the gap left by this purple fruit.
His family deserves the best every year.
Jiang Mingyan's eyes were gentle yet firm. He was just about to say something to the little fat boy, but at that moment, a deep sleepiness swept over him irresistibly.
"Sui Sui..." In the end, Jiang Mingyan only uttered two vague syllables, and then his body became heavy and fell on the grass.
However, until the last moment, he held the little fat boy tightly in his arms and used his body to cushion Sui Sui.
"Brother?" Sui Sui's eyes widened, and her baby voice was filled with tears.
"Rustle..." The leaves collided with each other, and several lush giant trees standing nearby stretched out their dark brown branches, gesturing in front of the little cub.
Sui Sui's round, dark eyes were filled with tears, and she asked earnestly in a childish voice, "Really?"
The dark brown branches swayed up and down rapidly, as if someone was nodding continuously.
Sui Sui arched his little body and moved closer to his brother's face, rubbing his chin gently like a little animal.
"Brother, Suijuejue, I will protect you." Following the soft voice of the human cub, Hypericum virginianum and Hemoclotting Grass jumped down from Suisui's wrist, and their bodies grew larger until they used their roots to circle Jiang Mingyan and the little cub on the ground in the center, and then they slowly stopped changing.
·
When Jiang Mingyan woke up, the afterglow of the setting sun dyed the sky red, the sky was filled with sunset glow, and the mountains looked like dormant giant beasts, casting dark shadows in the distance.
His cultivation has reached the fourth level of Qi training.
Ever since his spiritual root was shattered, Jiang Mingyan had often felt a heaviness in his Dantian. He tried his best, practicing day and night, but he could only barely maintain the third level of Qi training.
But now, a purple fruit allowed him to ignore the obstacles of his spiritual roots and successfully advance to the fourth level of Qi training.
Jiang Mingyan felt the soft and heavy weight on his chest and smiled gently.
"Thank you Sui Sui." He whispered.
The chubby little boy who was sleeping soundly on Jiang Mingyan's chest frowned and rubbed Jiang Mingyan's chest with his soft face.
"But Sui Sui's Yunhai cake is out today." Jiang Mingyan slowly stood up, carefully protecting the little fat boy so as not to wake him up.
Jiang Mingyan's plan for today was to feed Sui Sui meat paste in the morning and then take Sui Sui to play in the grass for a while.
When it was almost noon, she put the little fat boy into a basket and carried him to the restaurant in Zhongzhuang that was specially set up for cultivators to have a meal.
Then, they went to Uncle Chen's house in Xizhuang and let Suisui play with the big black dog he had been thinking about for an entire afternoon.
In the evening, when they were returning, they would pass by Tang's Pharmacy and he would go to pick up the Yunhai Cake that he had asked Tang Jiu to buy from Shanhe City.
But unexpectedly, the plan was aborted before it was even halfway through.
Jiang Mingyan thought about it and couldn't help but curl the corners of his lips.
He looked at the human cub in his arms who was still sleeping soundly, completely unaware that he had missed out on the sweet and soft Yunhai Cake. "It's okay, brother will make it up to Sui Sui tomorrow."
Sui Sui didn't know what he was dreaming about, but at that moment he made a soft and chewy sound: "Ah~"
"Then I'll take it as Suisui's agreement." Jiang Mingyan said with a smile.
He put the four purple fruits on the leaves next to him into the Lan Qiuying bracelet. When he passed by the Green Leaf Hypericum and the Blood Clotting Grass, he picked up the two spiritual plants that had shrunk again and placed them next to the little fat boy's hands.
As soon as the green-leaved Hypericum and the hemoclotting grass touched Sui Sui, they gently wrapped around the little fat boy's wrist and shook their branches and leaves with great joy.
Jiang Mingyan touched the crown of the Hypericum odoratum and the leaves of the hemoclotting grass.
The two spiritual plants shook and seemed to rub his fingers.
The spiritual plants of Sui Sui are as lovely as Sui Sui.
Because he loved the woman and loved her dog, Jiang Mingyan's expression couldn't help but soften.
He held the child tightly in his arms and walked slowly home against the brilliant clouds.
