Chapter 33

Chapter 33

As the Pegasus carriage got closer to Shanhe City, the noisy voices of people became clearer.

The Pegasus carriage landed in an open space not far outside the city wall. The Pegasus folded its wings and, like an ordinary white horse, pulled the carriage towards the city gate.

The sound of wheels and the clatter of horses' hooves blended into the hustle and bustle, becoming an ordinary scene in the mountain and river city.

Suisui tugged at the corner of his brother's clothes, his dark round eyes reflecting the flickering light and shadow, and he looked curiously at the city in front of him that he had never seen before.

The towering, massive city walls are covered with huge claw marks of varying depths, silently telling of the dangers this city has endured. But in the end, it stands as it always has, throwing everything into the turbulent torrent of time.

Sui Sui watched as the Pegasus carriage took them through the solid and ancient city walls, along the bluestone road, through the bustling long street, and finally stopped in front of an exquisite courtyard.

——Like a strange adventure.

Sui Sui was completely immersed in it, looking around happily with his fluffy little head.

"Brother, is this Tang Jiu's house?" The soft and slow voice of a baby with clear pronunciation looked childish and cute.

Jiang Mingyan steadied the chubby little foot and placed it on his leg. Like a curious kitten, he peeked at the little fellow in the exquisite courtyard not far away, his expression gentle, "I'll have to ask Tang Jiu about this."

"Yes, and no." Tang Jiu closed the jade fan in his hand, stood up and lightly jumped off the flying carriage. Standing in front of the courtyard gate, he smiled brightly: "I bought this courtyard with the first spiritual stones I earned."

"You two brothers will stay here for the next two days," Tang Jiu said. "I have some things to take care of, and I haven't been back to the Tang Mansion in a while, so I won't be staying here for the time being. I'll come pick you up on the day of the auction."

Jiang Mingyan stepped off the Pegasus carriage, Sui Sui in his arms. He nodded, "Thank you very much."

"No need." Tang Jiu pushed open the gate and said in a relaxed tone, "This auction is organized by my cousin. I have a good relationship with him, so it's my duty to help him retain customers."

Jiang Mingyan didn't say anything else, but he knew in his heart that things shouldn't be calculated that way.

"Brother!" Suisui tugged at her brother's sleeve, her big round eyes sparkling with tiny starlight.

"What's wrong?" Jiang Mingyan lowered his eyes.

"White horse!" This was the first time Suisui saw the full view of the Pegasus carriage that he had ridden for a long time.

The moment the little fat boy was carried out of the carriage by his brother, he was immediately attracted by the four snow-white and muscular Pegasus with wings on their backs standing at the four corners of the Pegasus carriage.

But what followed was not love, but confusion.

Sui Sui's round little face was filled with confusion: "Baima, you're bad! You're bullying me!"

So why did they ride in the chariot of the bad white horse?

The little fat boy looked at his omnipotent brother with eager eyes, his watery round eyes full of closeness and trust.

Jiang Mingyan was stunned for a moment, then realized that Suisui was talking about the young man from the Jiang family and the flying horse he rode when he met in Wu'an City.

He was a little surprised.

Jiang Mingyan knew that the little guy had always been smart and clever, but he didn't expect Sui Sui to remember it for so long.

"A Pegasus is a spiritual beast. How can it have any sense of good and evil?" Jiang Mingyan walked towards the courtyard with Sui Sui and Tang Jiu in his arms, saying slowly, "The Pegasus in Wu'an City followed a bad man, so it did bad things."

"But Sui Sui, look, these four Pegasus haven't done anything yet. They landed outside the city and walked quietly on the streets. They haven't hit anyone or destroyed any stalls, have they?"

The little fat boy tilted his head and frowned thoughtfully: "Tang Jiu seems like a good person, so his Pegasus also seems like a good horse."

Suisui is a good cub, so Taotao and Xuexue are also good spiritual plants.

The little fellow thought, puffing out his chest with pride. If he had a big tail, it would have been raised high, swaying gently and modestly.

Tang Jiu looked at the chubby little boy whose hair suddenly turned a smug color and raised his eyebrows.

Are all the little cubs' thoughts so jumpy?

Jiang Mingyan immediately understood Sui Sui's thoughts, and with a slight curl of his lips, he rubbed the fat boy's smug hair.

"This is it." As he spoke, Tang Jiu had already led them to the house that had been cleaned up long ago.

He pushed open the door and said, "It's already been cleaned up. I know you're worried about Sui Sui, so I specially chose a bigger room for you two brothers to live in together."

As he spoke, he winked at Jiang Mingyan: "After all, Sui Sui sleeps so well, Master Jiang won't mind, right?"

"Brother doesn't mind!" Sui Sui, sitting on her brother's arm, responded quickly after hearing what he said: "Sui Sui likes to turn over and break up with brother, and brother must like to turn over and break up with Sui Sui too!"

"Really?" The little fat boy did not forget to raise his delicate little face to seek approval from his brother.

Jiang Mingyan said "hmm".

Tang Jiu chuckled, but didn't say anything else.

·

Time passed like water, and soon the day of the auction arrived.

The Pegasus carriage stopped in front of the courtyard gate. Tang Jiu stepped out of the carriage and looked at the little girl with dark round eyes and sparkling eyes in Jiang Mingyan's arms. He raised his eyebrows in surprise and asked, "Is Sui Sui awake?"

"Of course!" Sui Sui said with a smug look, "Sui Sui is going to the auction house!"

"Tsk, I didn't say I wouldn't take Sui Sui with me." Tang Jiu subconsciously defended himself.

"Sui Sui Zi Dao." Sui Sui looked at Tang Jiu in confusion and said in a childish voice, "Sui Sui died very early yesterday, so I got up early today."

"Oh, so that's it..." Tang Jiu twirled his fan awkwardly, ignoring Jiang Mingyan's somewhat mocking gaze, and said with a forced smile, "I'm just worried that Sui Sui might misunderstand me. I really value Sui Sui's opinion."

"If Tang Jiu hadn't done anything bad, Sui Sui wouldn't have misunderstood him!" Sui Sui puffed up his cheeks and said unhappily, "Sui Sui is a kid who can tell right from wrong!"

Why does this sound so familiar?

Tang Jiu, who was hit by the boomerang he had launched earlier, shut up silently.

"Let's go." Jiang Mingyan waited for Sui Sui to finish speaking, then lifted up the chubby little body and walked towards the carriage.

"Yes, we should go." Tang Jiu sighed and nodded quickly.

Sui Sui hums twice.

But soon, the Pegasus carriage started moving, and the little guy's attention was attracted by the various lively stalls outside. He looked out with his black eyes that shone like obsidian.

"Is there anything you like?" Tang Jiu said enthusiastically: "If you like it, Brother Tang Jiu will buy it for Sui Sui."

Sui Sui refused in a baby voice: "Sui Sui and brother went shopping! They bought lots of cakes for Uncle Chen and some big bones for Da Hei!"

Tang Jiu responded sullenly.

Sui Sui sensed something was wrong and tilted her head to look at him.

Is Tang Jiu unhappy?

The little guy hesitated.

"Tang Jiu!" Sui Sui called him.

"What's wrong?" Tang Jiu shook the fan.

"As long as Tang Jiu doesn't separate his brother and Sui Sui anymore, Tang Jiu will be Sui Sui's good friend." The little guy said seriously.

Tang Jiu was stunned, looking at the tiny baby, a hint of surprise in his eyes.

"We are close friends!" Sui Sui looked serious, and there was no trace of joking on his soft little face.

"You really are..." Tang Jiu sighed, stood up and stretched out his arms towards Sui Sui.

Sui Sui blinked her round eyes and opened her short little hands.

"Oh, our Sui Sui is so good." Tang Jiu hugged the little fat boy with satisfaction, his tone exaggerated but sincere.

Sui Sui was amused by him and rubbed Tang Jiu's cheek.

Tang Jiu, who was so close to the little guy for the first time, soon felt dizzy and was reluctant to let go of Sui Sui.

Jiang Mingyan sat on the bench, looking at the man and the child laughing and making noise together. He felt a little relieved, but his thin lips tightened involuntarily, and a feeling of loss quietly emerged in his heart.

"Brother!" But before Jiang Mingyan could be surrounded by the delicate emotions, the little guy's happy baby voice rang out.

He just felt a weight on his legs, and then there was a round milk ball.

The little girl raised her round face, and only he was reflected in her big, dark eyes: "Brother, you should be happy too!"

The little guy grabbed his brother's clothes and climbed into his arms. He stretched out his short arms to hug his brother's neck, leaned close to his brother's ear, and said childishly and seriously: "Brother is the most important."

Jiang Mingyan's heart softened, and those gloomy emotions were illuminated by the warm light and turned into joy.

"Little clever ghost."

He sighed softly, a smile on his lips.

·

The horse's hooves made a light clattering sound as they stepped on the bluestone road.

Along with this crisp and regular sound, the outline of a five-story building gradually emerged.

"Is it like an auction house?" Sui Sui asked curiously while sitting on her brother's lap.

"It's an auction house." Tang Jiu explained, fanning himself. "Don't worry, Tang's Auction House doesn't do those weird things. We do legitimate business and have always had a good reputation."

"What is indecent?" Sui Sui tilted his head.

Tang Jiu choked and changed the subject, "More than a year ago, Caibaotang got a plant of black hedge grass and sold it very quickly."

"A few days ago, I happened to get another one. I was going to put it in Caibaotang, but my cousin thought it was too wasteful. Now that he's in charge of the auction house, he had an idea and put the black hedge grass in this recent auction."

Jiang Mingyan seemed to be lost in thought.

"It's okay. You have three plants of Chensui grass, so the Moli grass must be yours." Tang Jiu patted Jiang Mingyan's shoulder and comforted him.

Jiang Mingyan lowered his eyes and stroked the little fat boy's back.

When the Pegasus carriage stopped and they stepped out, a middle-aged man came running up to them: "Ninth Young Master."

"My friend and I are coming to take a look." Tang Jiu asked, "Is the private room I want still available?"

"I'm staying here." The middle-aged man said with a smile, "Young Master Jiu, and these two young masters, please follow me."

Because of Tang Jiu, their progress was a bit faster than others. When they sat down in the private room filled with elegant fragrance, there was still some noise below.

When the auction started, Sui Sui had already passed her excitement and nestled in her brother's arms, concentrating on chewing the spiritual fruit.

I don’t know how long it took, but Suisui was carried by her brother to a different position, which was right in front of the window, where she could see the scene in the hall below.

Then, Sui Sui heard his brother say in a loud voice, "Two stalks of Chen Sui grass."

There was a silence below. After a while, the voice that had been saying names that Sui Sui couldn't understand said, "No one offered a higher price? Then this black hedge grass will belong to the young master in private room number three."

Suisui tilted her head, feeling her brother's slightly disordered breathing, and turned her head to touch her chubby face against her brother's cheek, then rubbed all the juice on her little face onto her brother's face.

Jiang Mingyan laughed and rubbed the little guy's round head indulgently.

He first took out a handkerchief and wiped Sui Sui's little face, and then wiped the juice off his own face.

"Congratulations." Tang Jiu watched the interaction between the two brothers and said with a smile: "Should Suisui give me a sticker too?"

I look at him every year, and he seems to be interested.

Jiang Mingyan held the little guy firmly without making a sound.

Tang Jiu was disappointed before, that’s all, but now you want to come again?

He raised his eyes to look at Tang Jiu and asked calmly, "Is there any alchemy cultivator in Shanhe City that you trust?"

"What do you want to find an alchemist for?" Tang Jiu raised his eyebrows. "You want to make an elixir?"

Before Jiang Mingyan could speak, the door to the private room was suddenly pushed open, and Xiao Zhou walked in with a pale face: "Sir..."
