Chapter 132

Chapter 132

Yun Wan waited all morning at Liuyun Garden but Yun Xi didn't return. She heard that Shen Rang had returned and originally wanted to go find him to demand an explanation, but she was too late. Shen Rang had just left when she arrived at the empty house.

Yun Wan felt that if she didn't vent her anger, she might do something terrible, so she asked someone to hitch up the carriage and go back to the Yun family.

Madam Yun was serving tea in the hall, her posture very relaxed.

Seeing Yun Wan suddenly return, looking furious, Madam Yun raised an eyebrow: "Why are you so angry? Did you quarrel with the young master?"

“It’s not the heir apparent,” Yun Wan sat down beside her. “It’s Yun Xi! Mother, didn’t you say you had already given Yun Xi a good talking-to, and that Yun Xi had already given up on his plans?”

"yes."

Madam Yun continued working with her hands until the milky steam in the cup surged and overflowed. Only then did she put down the tea whisk with satisfaction and look up at Yun Wan.

"Then why did my mother-in-law come to tell me today that the young master wants to take Yunxi as a concubine?" Yun Wan asked, her face full of resentment. "If it weren't for that girl Yunxi causing trouble behind my back, how could the young master have made such a request?"

Yun Wan thought that Madam Yun would be just as angry as she was after hearing her words.

After all, Yunxi's actions showed that she didn't take Madam Yun's words to heart, and even less did she care about her mother.

Unexpectedly, Madam Yun's eyebrows twitched slightly, and she only seemed a little surprised: "Did your mother-in-law tell you about this herself?"

Meeting Madam Yun's gaze, Yun Wan immediately sensed something amiss: "Yes!"

Madam Yun withdrew her gaze, and her opinion of Yun Xi changed somewhat.

I thought this girl came from the countryside and that she only caught Shen Rang's eye because of her looks. I never expected that she would be able to persuade Shen Rang to ask Madam Zheng to intervene.

After going around in circles, Yunxi's importance in Shen Rang's heart became clear.

After all, if Shen Rang only regarded Yunxi as a dispensable thing, he wouldn't have needed to ask Zheng Shi for help; he could have just given her an order. But since he did ask her, it means that Shen Rang really cares about Yunxi.

I never expected this girl to be so clever; she actually has this skill.

She does bear some resemblance to her.

As Madam Yun thought this to herself, a smile unconsciously appeared on her face.

Yun Wan took in Madam Yun's change of expression, and suddenly seemed to realize something, raising her voice considerably: "Mother, Yun Xi seducing the Crown Prince, could it be that you instructed her behind the scenes?!"

Startled by her words, Madam Yun realized belatedly that she had given herself away and quickly said, "What are you saying, child! I am your mother! How could I possibly let another woman interfere in your and your husband's affairs?!"

Hearing Madam Yun's words, Yun Wan still had some doubts: "Really?"

"Of course it's true!"

Madam Yun spoke decisively, then suddenly changed the subject: "However, now that the young master has taken a liking to Yunxi, it's not good for you to keep obstructing him. Besides, Yunxi is your own sister; even if she becomes a concubine, it won't affect your position. You sisters should work together—"

Before she could finish speaking, Yun Wan jumped to her feet: "Mother!"

Madam Yun was stunned.

Yun Wan took a deep breath, her gaze towards Madam Yun filled with complex emotions.

"Mother, there's no need to say anything more. I can't possibly agree to this!" Yun Wan said firmly. "If you really care about me, Mother, you should call Yun Xi back and persuade her to give up on this idea!"

After saying that, Yun Wan turned and left.

Watching her retreating figure, Madam Yun frowned, somewhat displeased.

Only after Yun Wan's figure disappeared did Madam Yun sigh softly, "The child has grown up and has his own opinions."

“The young mistress is now in charge of the household, which is naturally different from when she was a young lady in the mansion,” Zhou Mama said with a smile. “Besides, the young mistress and the young master are newly married and in the midst of their passionate love. It’s normal for the young mistress to be unhappy now that the second young lady has suddenly interfered.”

Madam Yun gave a soft snort, her displeasure largely dissipated after Zhou Mama's words.
