Chapter 93

Chapter 93

This time it was directed at Jingyuan.

"Look at the servants you've trained, they're truly loyal!"

There seemed to be something else in his words, but Shen Rang pretended not to notice.

He welcomed the two into the building and had them pour tea again.

"Alright, alright, your mother and I didn't come here for tea!" Shen Jun said impatiently. "Tell me, what have you done, and why are you being left idle at home?"

Shen Rang pursed his lips: "I didn't do anything."

"You did nothing, so why would that Grand Secretary of the Hanlin Academy have nothing better to do than make things difficult for you?" Shen Jun was so angry that his beard bristled. "You don't need to rush to appease me. You know perfectly well what you've done!"

Shen Rang lowered his eyes.

He really didn't know.

Unlike Shen Jun, who was furious, Madam Zheng sat to the side with her gaze as calm as ever.

She spoke, her voice as calm as ever: "Zirong, no one knows better than us how you've managed all these years. Now you're left idle at home, and they haven't said when you'll be put back into service. If you just stay here and do nothing, not to mention us, how can you face yourself after all those years of studying hard from dawn till dusk?"

Yunxi hid in the tent, clicking her tongue in admiration.

This was the first time she had witnessed the power of the couple working together.

With such a combination of strength and gentleness, who could possibly withstand it?

Sure enough, there was complete silence outside, and Shen Rang's voice was not heard for a long time.

After a long silence, Madam Zheng sighed, "Zirong, I know you don't like us interfering with you, but you should think about it carefully. We are your parents, how could we possibly wish for your well-being? Aren't all the things we do and say for your betterment?"

“Your mother is absolutely right,” Shen Jun said. “What ideals are you talking about? If you’re not careful, you’ll be a useless person at home! At that point, forget about all your ideals. If we go out together, people will laugh our heads off!”

After saying that, Shen Jun took another sip of tea.

Shen Rang kept his thin lips pressed tightly together and remained silent.

The two people opposite each other exchanged a glance, and then Madam Zheng spoke again: "This matter happened suddenly. Calm down and think it over carefully. Your father will also be out there inquiring. If there is any news, we can talk about it again."

After saying that, Madam Zheng stood up.

Seeing this, Shen Jun had no choice but to get up. The couple took one last look at him and then turned to leave.

After the two left, Shen Rang took a sip of tea and said, "Come out."

Yunxi carefully emerged from behind the tent, observing his expression.

Meeting her gaze, Shen Rang forced a bitter smile, a hint of embarrassment in his eyes: "Please excuse my poor attempt."

She saw him in such a disheveled state.

Yunxi shook her head.

"Sit down." Shen Rang took a clean teacup and raised his hand to add tea for her.

Yunxi sat down as instructed, took the teacup from his hands, and sipped it slowly, careful not to make any noise.

Seeing her overly cautious manner, Shen Rang couldn't help but laugh and cry: "No need to be so careful, just do what you normally would."

Only after hearing his words did Yunxi feel relieved and finally return to normal.

After waiting for her to finish her tea, Chen Rang said, "You know everything, right? Do you... have any thoughts on this?"

"My opinion?" Yunxi was slightly surprised, she really didn't know why Shen Rang would ask her about matters of the court.

Yunxi racked her brains for a long time before saying, "Your Highness, I don't understand these things. If I said something wrong, will Your Highness blame me?"

"Won't."

Having received an affirmative answer, Yunxi took a deep breath and said, "Your Highness, His Majesty is getting old, isn't he?"

Shen Rang was stunned.

What's wrong?

Are we going to rebel?
