Chapter 74 Don’t mess with my cousin

Chapter 74 Don’t mess with my cousin

Mingzhao smiled and served the old lady a bowl of fish maw soup. "This is fish from Taiyuan Lake, very plump and delicious. Since you didn't go out to play yesterday, your grandson had someone go to the lake to catch a few. Since I'm having lunch with you today, I asked the kitchen to make some, just right for you to eat together. Please try this fish soup and see if it tastes good."

"Okay." The old lady's eyes wrinkled deeply. "You're still thinking about grandma when you go out to play. You're really filial."

Mingzhao couldn't help feeling a little guilty.

Shi Jianli took the fish maw soup handed to her by the maid, lowered her eyes, and stirred it gently with a spoon to let it cool.

Most of the fish dishes were placed in front of her, and she could pick them up with her chopsticks.

She raised her eyelashes and glanced at Ming Zhaohuan who was sitting diagonally across from her.

He said yesterday that he would let Tianyu go fishing but there was no follow-up. It turns out the fish are here.

After lunch, everyone chatted with the old lady for a while and then returned to their own courtyards.

The sun was a bit strong, and Shi Jianli went to the shade after going out, circling around for that little bit of shade.

Mingzhao was still looking at her back as she walked back and forth, a smile unconsciously appearing on his face.

Ming Zhouhe followed Ming Zhaohang and Ming Zhouqing, listening to their conversation. After Ming Zhaohang left, Ming Zhouhe pulled Ming Zhouqing over.

"What are you doing?" Ming Zhouqing looked a little puzzled.

Ming Zhouhe released his arm and said, "I heard that my aunt has been arranging a marriage for my eldest brother recently and has already chosen a family."

Ming Zhouqing glanced at him, wondering what he meant by that. "No."

"No? My mother said she's just waiting for my eldest brother to nod his approval."

Ming Zhouqing suddenly smiled at him and said, "Well, I don't understand what you said before, but now my mother doesn't choose a marriage for my eldest brother."

"Why?"

"Why don't you ask my eldest brother? He doesn't want mother to arrange a marriage for him." Ming Zhouqing shrugged and walked towards his yard with his arms folded. "I'm going to take a nap."

Can he say that his eldest brother has taken a fancy to his cousin? What if his third brother punches him?

Shi Jianli returned to Tangli Courtyard. After waking up from her lunch break, she sat in her room, picking out the jewelry in her dressing box that had not been worn yet and putting them into another box. She then handed the box to Lanxing and said, "Send it to Yueran Residence."

This makeup was neither brilliant nor wrong, and even though she and Mingyueshu were not on good terms now, no one could find fault with it.

Anyone with a discerning eye could see Wu Shiming Yueshu's smug and unconsciously resentful expression, but the old lady didn't even bother to glance at her. Who knew what the situation would be like when she got married.

"Yes, girl."

After Lanxing left, Shi Jianli was leaning on the couch embroidering a sachet. The sachet was oblate in shape, with a dark blue background, and the dark purple Qilin on it was only a few stitches away from being completed.

After finishing, Shi Jianli put the prepared spices into the bag, tightened the drawstring at the mouth of the bag, and tied a jade bead tassel.

She lowered her head and looked at it for a while, then Shi Jianli rubbed the Qilin pattern on it with her fingertips, put the sachet into the small drawer, and continued to embroider another lavender orchid pattern.

After finishing the embroidery, she sat at the desk and began to paint the new autumn style with dreamy flowers.

I will go to Chaozhou at the end of May and arrive around mid-June. I will stay in Chaozhou for about half a month, which is July. When I return to Beijing, it will be almost August, so it is time to put autumn clothes on the agenda.

The next day, when I went to the private school, I saw Ming Zhaohuan at the same place as before.

Shi Jianli walked over and heard him say, "The koi in the lotus pond have grown a lot stronger. Do you want to go take a look?"

She glanced at him, and the petals of the white roses climbing the wall were blown towards her by the wind. She reached out and carefully picked a rose.

The flower was delicate and pretty. She handed it to him and answered irrelevantly: "Give it back to you."

Mingzhao raised his hand, and the flower fell into his palm. He held it loosely, his eyes flickering slightly, adding a touch of charm. "I'll wait for you in the lotus pond at 5 p.m."

Shi Jianli nodded slightly and walked past him.

Mingzhao missed the top of her hair and saw the other person behind the rockery. He withdrew his hand and faded his smile.

Shi Jianli looked back slightly, paused for a moment, and then continued walking forward.

When the pear disappeared around the corner, Ming Zhouhe walked out from the rockery and looked at Ming Zhao for a few seconds.

Finally, he said, "Brother, if you are not sincere and cannot give her the position of legal wife, don't mess with my cousin."

"Why do you think I'm not sincere?" Mingzhao asked his third brother with dissatisfaction in his eyes.

Ming Zhou spoke tactfully, "I know that my aunt and my mother have been choosing a marriage for us recently. If you are so sincere, why don't you ask my mother for your hand in marriage? I see you two should be very familiar with each other by now."

Mingzhao's tone was a little helpless. "I need cousin Li's consent to marry me. I told her to consider me. She is considering it, so I have to act according to her mood. As for marriage, if I want to get engaged, I will only get engaged to cousin Li."

Ming Zhou and Wei Yi were silent. He crossed his arms and asked, "Can you make sure that Auntie won't have any problem with her?"

"Yes, your aunt won't mind. She knows that I like Cousin Li. I'm just saying that I have a one-sided crush on Cousin Li."

"oh."

"You're leaving the house?"

"I have an appointment with my colleagues, and my second brother will go too." Ming Zhou and Ding Ding looked at him. "Brother, if she thinks about it and doesn't agree, don't force her."

He only has this one cousin, and his mother only has this one relative, so he hopes that his cousin lives a good life no matter what.

"I won't force her." She wouldn't disagree, and he wouldn't let her have any concerns.

"That's good." Ming Zhouhe relaxed his brows, "I'm going out."

He also knew a little about his cousin's thoughts on marriage. Since she was willing to get close to his elder brother, it must be that his elder brother really caught her eye.

Thinking about this, Ming Zhou glanced at his elder brother's face. His cousin liked good-looking guys who could make her interested. He guessed that his elder brother's face played a big role.

"Um."

Shi Jianli arrived at the lotus pond a quarter before Shen Shi, and Mingzhao was already there, waiting for her by the stone table under the wisteria arch.

The wisteria flowers in May are almost all in bloom, with only a few sparsely left dotted among the vines, swaying in the summer afternoon light.

Shi Jianli walked up to him, without saying a word, and looked at him with her clear and bright eyes. Her gaze moved from bottom to top, passing over the corners of his slightly raised lips, and rested on his gentle eyebrows.

Several attendants, especially Tianfeng and Tianyu, found places to stand tacitly and skillfully, and kept watch at the same time.

Seeing his own figure in her eyes, Mingzhao moved his fingers hidden in his sleeves, and inexplicably wanted to touch her cheek.

He pointed to a stone table beside him and said with a smile, "It's very hot in the afternoon. Would you like to sit for a while?"

Shi Jianli nodded, lifted her skirt and sat down.

There is a food box on the table.

Mingzhao was still sitting across from her. He opened the lunch box, took out a plate of milk cake, and brought out a bowl of sour plum soup and placed it in front of her. "Want some?"

Shi Jianli held the bowl with both hands. The bowl wall still had a trace of coolness. She drank with a spoon, looked up at him, and asked, "What did your cousin ask you this morning?"

"How do you know where the third brother is?"

"Yu Guangzhong saw him coming over, and I knew he stopped. The day before yesterday on the pleasure boat, he said something was strange between you and me." She lowered her eyes and drank sour plum soup.

My cousin had almost guessed it, but he just needed the opportunity to ask.

"My third brother said that if I wasn't sincere, I shouldn't have bothered you. He also asked me why I didn't ask my second aunt to marry you if I was sincere."

Mingzhao's gaze shifted from the swaying pearls in her bun to her eyes. He paused for a moment, concealing his nervousness, and continued, "I said I wanted to ask for your consent. It's been three days. How are you thinking about it? Can I ask you to marry me?"
