Chapter 305 Mother and Son

The family of three sat at the table, and Zhao Sixing, disregarding everything else, recounted the whole story.

Upon hearing this, Xu Shao turned red with anger and grabbed the teapot beside her, throwing it to the ground.

The hatred in her heart was like magma, making Xu Shao feel as if she was about to be burned to ashes. She wanted to vent her anger and express her dissatisfaction through destruction.

Seeing Xu Shao's expression, Zhao Sixing quickly grabbed her arm and said, "Mother, Mother, please calm down. Miss Zhou is highly skilled in martial arts, and that thief did not come out unscathed."

Xu Shao, her eyes red, said, "Xing-ge'er, is it alright if we didn't get the favor? Why did this happen? They don't treat us, mother and son, as members of this family. Xing-ge'er, I don't hope for anything else now, I just hope you'll be alright and that you'll become successful so you can take your mother and younger brother to live outside the mansion. There's no affection left between your father and me. Living under the same roof is really stifling. I've even thought about separating our property and living separately from your father."

Upon hearing Xu Shao's words, Zhao Ziqi's face changed; he hadn't expected Xu Shao to say such a thing.

Separating property and living separately would be a laughing stock if it were actually done. Zhao Ziqi looked at Xu Shao and saw that Xu Shao was calm after she finished speaking, so she knew that this was Xu Shao's truest thought.

If Xu Shao's family background were ordinary, she could use her family's status as a marquis to suppress her. However, Xu Shao comes from a marquis's family, and most importantly, her family is not as good as the Xu family. If Xu Shao really proposes to divide the property and live separately, and her family supports her, she will probably really take her dowry and live separately from her husband.

Zhao Ziqi went to see Zhao Sixing again and found that Zhao Sixing was not affected by Xu Shao's words. So he said to Zhao Sixing, "Xing-ge'er, we are your parents. How can you not try to persuade your mother if she has such thoughts? If it really comes to a dispute over property division and separate living arrangements, won't you children be laughed at by others?"

Zhao Sixing shook his head gently after hearing Zhao Ziqi's words and said, "Father, for so many years, it has been Mother who has taken care of us. She has exhausted herself and worried herself sick so that the three of us siblings could have a good education and find good marriages. Now that I am about to get married, Mother can enjoy our retirement. As for whether she wants to live with you or separate from you, that is between Mother and you. We children should not go against our parents' wishes."

Zhao Ziqi was stunned for a moment because she didn't expect Zhao Sixing to say such a thing. Xu Shao, on the other hand, covered her mouth and started sobbing after hearing Zhao Sixing's words.

Xu Shao was not only crying because Zhao Sixing was sensible and obedient and could understand her difficulties, but also to show Zhao Ziqi that he stood by her as his mother. Through these words, he was telling her that if anything happened between her and his father in the future, he would support all her decisions.

Zhao Ziqi gritted her teeth, stood up, and said fiercely to the mother and son, "You two, one is unfaithful to a woman, and the other is unworthy of being a son."

Xu Shao suddenly stood in front of Zhao Sixing, interrupting Zhao Ziqi sharply, and said, "You say I'm not a virtuous woman? You tell me first, where am I not a virtuous woman? Did I not give you children, or did I not raise them properly after giving birth, or did I not use my dowry to cover up my husband's shameful deeds? Zhao Ziqi, you're an ungrateful wretch. I squandered my dowry to help you so much, but don't worry, I won't give you a single penny in the future."

Zhao Ziqi turned and left. Zhao Sixing stood in front of the table, watching Zhao Ziqi's back. He turned around and said to Xu Shao very seriously, "Mother, don't worry. I will always agree with whatever you want to do. Whether you want to live a good life with Father or separate from Father and live separately, I will always be on your side."

If Xu Shao really has to separate from Zhao Ziqi after dividing their property, the child's opinion will be very important. With red eyes, Xu Shao nodded to Zhao Sixing, wiped her tears with a handkerchief, and said, "Xing-ge'er, you should talk to your mother properly about how those things in Miss Zhou's family happened."

Zhao Sixing pondered for a long time before saying, "Mother, actually, my cousin Di and I made some preparations beforehand. We were afraid that someone would cause trouble at the Zhou family. We didn't expect Miss Zhou to be so capable. She single-handedly took down several thugs. Mother, I really didn't expect that there would be such an extraordinary woman involved."

When Xu Shao saw Zhao Sixing speaking, her eyes sparkled, and she couldn't help but sigh inwardly. This daughter-in-law, although of humble origin, was deeply loved by her son. She had been fighting with her mother-in-law for so many years, and the anger she had been holding back was no longer meaningful. The Yongping Marquis's mansion was rotten to the core. Even if her virtuous mother-in-law handed over the management of the mansion to her in the future, it would probably still be a mess.

Lady Jiang, the wife of the Marquis of Yongping, actually favored her second son the most. Moreover, she had chosen her second son's wife herself and brought her home. The couple treated Lady Jiang with respect and deference. People's hearts are naturally biased, especially since Zhao Ziqi was not her favorite son, and Xu Shao was the daughter-in-law that Lady Jiang disliked the most.

Xu Shao knew all this perfectly well. But there was still some hope. In recent days, she felt that staying in this mansion was meaningless, and it would be much more comfortable to live outside with the child.

With this thought in mind, Xu Shao began to ponder how to leave this mansion. Recently, Zhao Sixing had been using the money from selling Zhao Ziqi's antiques to buy an estate in the suburbs of the capital. She might as well accompany him to that estate. Now that her daughter was married and her eldest son was getting married, she would only have to worry about her youngest son. But her youngest son was only thirteen years old and had been sent out by his maternal grandfather to learn skills. There was no need to rush into marriage, and it would be nice to live a quiet life.
