The room for Zheng Boyuan to recuperate was ready. It was in the same courtyard as Xu Zhi. Xu Zhi lived in the east room of the three main rooms, and the west room was used as Zheng Boyuan's room to recuperate. A kang (heated brick bed) was built by the window in that room, and it was already warm. After everyone put Zheng Boyuan on the kang, only Xu Zhi, Hong Gu, and Xi Jing'an were left in the room.
Zheng Boyuan opened his eyes and said to Xu Zhi, "Find a room in the front yard and settle Jing'an down."
Hong Gu agreed and led Xi Jing'an out. Xu Zhi saw Zheng Boyuan about to get up, so she quickly helped him up and said, "You're not feeling well, so you shouldn't get up."
Zheng Boyuan smiled and said, "It's alright, I've been lying down the whole way, I'll sit up and rest for a bit."
Hearing Zheng Boyuan's weak voice, Xu Zhi knew that the injury wouldn't heal so easily. Her heart ached, but she couldn't let it out. She said, "I've prepared some ordinary clothes for you. Let's change into them first."
Zheng Boyuan nodded and said, "I'll have Jing'an come over later to help me wash up before I get dressed."
Xu Zhi actually wanted to check his injuries, but since he said so, she had no choice but to give up. She went out and told Bai Ying, who was serving outside, to go to the front and see if Xi Jing'an was settled. Once settled, she could come over and help Zheng Boyuan wash up.
Zheng Boyuan took a few deep breaths after seeing Xu Zhi leave. Due to the strenuous activity, the wound must have reopened. When Xu Zhi turned back, she saw that Zheng Boyuan was pale and his forehead was covered in sweat.
Xu Zhi quickly went over and said, "Tell me what you need to do, and I'll help you. Don't move too much. Take off your clothes, and I'll check your wound, okay?"
Zheng Boyuan did not agree until Xi Jing'an came over. Only then did Xi Jing'an help him to the corner room. After a simple wash, he re-bandaged his wound and then sat on the kang (a heated brick bed) leaning against the pillow, panting heavily.
