Chapter 67 Preparation

When Xu Rao saw Xu Di pinching Xu Bai's cheek, she quickly slapped Xu Di's hand away and said, "What are you doing? You can't pinch a child's cheeks, or he'll drool."

Xu Di said, "Where did you hear this nonsense? This is made of flesh and blood, not made of paper or clay."

Xu Rao said, "This is what your grandma told me when you were little. If anyone dared to pinch your cheek when you were little, I would really get angry with them."

Xu Di laughed and said, "I guess it's just my uncles. You only dare to get angry with my uncles. If you get angry with my uncles, they won't even bother with you."

Xu Rao said, "Listen to what you're saying! What do you mean they don't want to talk to me? They're my brothers, who else would they talk to if they ignored me?"

Xu Di said, "I grew up with my uncles. They all said that when you were little, you were like a little girl. You couldn't be teased at all and would cry as soon as you were teased. They said they were so annoyed by you."

Xu Rao was so angry she wanted to hit Xu Di, but Xu Di had already anticipated this. He darted to the door in a few steps and said with a grin, "I knew you were going to get angry. Alright, I'm leaving now. Dinner will be ready soon, so this chubby boy is in your care."

Xu Rao watched Xu Di's retreating figure, shook her head with a smile, met her youngest son's round, grape-like eyes, tapped his nose with her finger, and said, "Your brother is a troublemaker. We mustn't be like that in the future. You have to be obedient, understand?"

Upon hearing this, Xu Bai grinned at his father, drool dripping from his mouth. Xu Rao quickly wiped it with the bib around Xu Bai's neck and said, "Oh dear, is he teething? Why is he drooling so much? Come on, let's go home and see what delicious food we're making."

Thinking of the wheat Xu Di brought back, Xu Bai imagined that his family would be eating pancakes made from the flour of the newly milled wheat that night, which was his favorite food. He pointed at the door and kept shouting "Ah ah!" Xu Rao, carrying her chubby little son, slowly went home.

Since they were going back and would be staying for over a year, including spending the Spring Festival at the Marquis's residence, there was a lot of luggage to prepare. At the very least, they needed to bring clothes for all four seasons, as well as gifts for everyone in the mansion. Zhang Zhaoci was too impatient to deal with all this, so she asked Granny Lu to help Li Yuexi and Xu Zhi with it. This was a good learning opportunity. They not only had to consider the clothes and jewelry to match for all four seasons, but also what clothes to prepare for visiting guests. They couldn't make new clothes every time they went out. There were also the gifts to bring back. Granny Lu knew the details of the Marquis's residence, so she explained the situation, how many households there were, and how many people lived there, to the two young girls in detail.
