Li Yuexi had already gotten up, tidied up the room, and then went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
Everyone in the academy ate their three meals a day in the kitchen. However, those like Xu Di who studied late into the night usually prepared their own supper. Some bought some snacks and kept them there, while others just grabbed a few steamed buns from the kitchen. Xu Di and Li Yuexi lived in a small kitchen in their courtyard, which had some basic cooking utensils. Xu Ru had ordered someone to prepare it for them so that the young couple could experience what it was like to live their own little life behind closed doors. However, Li Yuexi didn't like cooking for herself, so she helped out in the kitchen for all three meals. The couple ate in the kitchen, while Xu Di prepared his supper in the small kitchen in the courtyard.
After Xu Bai and the Zhang family finished their morning prayers, they rushed to the kitchen. Xu Bai saw Li Yuexi busy getting bowls and chopsticks for everyone and happily called out, "Sister-in-law!" Li Yuexi smiled and responded, then secretly stuffed a meatball into Xu Bai's mouth and whispered, "We're going to have meatballs for lunch. Here, have one to try."
Upon hearing this, Xu Bai nodded to Li Yuexi while chewing on a meatball. The meatball was quite large, and Xu Bai would chew it on the left and then on the right, his eyes squinting happily like a little squirrel. Li Yuexi found it amusing. Seeing Li Yuexi laugh, Xu Bai, still eating his favorite meatball, also smiled.
When Xu Di arrived in the kitchen, he saw Li Yuexi smiling at Xu Bai, who was standing in front of him. He walked over and asked, "What are you two laughing about?"
When Xu Bai saw Xu Di, he chewed and swallowed in a few bites, straightened his expression, and respectfully called out "Big Brother".

Xu Bai quickly waved his hand and said, "Brother, you and your wife are a loving couple, which is what I want to see most. How can you say such a thing about you? I'm just doing this to prevent Yu Yuan from forgetting about us brothers after he gets married."
Xu Di sneered and said, "Xu Bai, I think you've been quiet for a few days and you're itching for more. Are you complaining that the teacher hasn't given you enough homework?"
Xu Bai quickly pulled Zhang Yuyuan away, saying as they walked, "Big brother, you are my own brother. I need a normal environment to grow up in. I don't want to be forced to grow too fast."
Li Yuexi smiled as she watched Xu Bai walk away, then playfully scolded, "You too, why did you scare Brother Bai like that?"
Xu Di said, "This guy loves to wag his tail. If you're not careful, his tail will be wag high. We have to press it down like this."
Li Yuexi said, "He's only a few years old. If we keep putting pressure on him like this, we might hurt his feelings if we do it too hard."
Xu Di didn't show it on his face, but in his heart he was thinking, with Xu Bai's thick skin, how could he possibly hurt him? If he were really like other kids, able to change his bad habits with just a few words, that would be fine.

Xu Di took a bite from Li Yuexi's hand, nodded, and said, "It tastes good, but it would taste even better if you added less ginger."
Li Yuexi smiled without saying anything. When conditions allowed, Xu Di was a bit picky about food. He didn't like the taste of ginger, which Li Yuexi only found out later. Listening to Xu Di's words, she smiled and looked at him.
Xu Bai watched his brother and sister-in-law's interaction from afar and said to Zhang Yuyuan, "Those two are really something else, showing off their love in front of so many single people. I don't know if they can even handle it."
Zhang Yuyuan enjoyed being with Xu Bai, though sometimes he only vaguely understood what Xu Bai said. However, Zhang Yuyuan had one good quality: he didn't dwell on things. If he didn't understand, so be it. Xu Bai said things like that quite often anyway. Zhang Yuyuan simply enjoyed the feeling of being with Xu Bai, which made him feel completely relaxed. As for the meaning behind Xu Bai's words, Zhang Yuyuan didn't want to delve into it.
Xu Bai also liked being with Zhang Yuyuan because he didn't delve into the details of the conversations they shared.
The Zhang brothers were around fifteen, sixty, fourteen, or fifteen years old, a time when they all had their own secrets. Zhang Yuyuan was the youngest among the brothers, and given his quiet nature, they felt that the other two were too young and would sometimes avoid talking to them if they wanted to.
Xu Bai had been through that age himself, so he naturally knew what these teenagers meant. He wasn't interested in their childish and self-righteous ideas. If they didn't want him to come along, he wouldn't. He was happy to have some peace and quiet.
Zhang Yuyuan and Xu Bai often ate breakfast together. While they were eating, they saw a servant dressed as a student hurriedly come to the kitchen looking for Xu Di. They didn't know what they said, but Xu Di left in a hurry before he had even finished his meal.
