Chapter 1 You're Drunk.

Chapter 1 You're Drunk.

Jiangcheng, 'Crane' Bar.

"Tang Ran!"

Annoyed, she called out, pulling Tang Ran back from her dazed state. She instinctively turned to look at the source of the voice.

The crystal chandelier overhead made her dizzy, and the loud music around her made her head buzz.

Where is this?

Is it a bar?

Why did you end up in a bar?

She hasn't drunk alcohol for many years.

"Tang Ran, stop throwing your spoiled princess tantrums."

An unpleasant voice rang in her ears again, and then Tang Ran felt her wrist being tightly gripped.

She squinted hard to make out the person's face.

It was Song Wuqi.

Song Wuqi looks several years younger.

Song Wuqi looked impatient. "I've already explained to you that there's really nothing between us. She's just my assistant."

'She's just my assistant.'

Tang Ran's heart was struck hard by those words, and pain instantly spread throughout her body.

How familiar that sentence was, a lie she had heard countless times.

Another scene flashed through her mind: the woman placed her phone in front of her, and on the screen were two women leaning intimately together, their arms around a little girl.

'We've been together for three years, and this is our child.'

Snap!

Enraged, Tang Ran swung her hand back and slapped Song Wuqi across the face.

"you."

Song Wuqi's glasses were knocked askew.

She paused, staring at Tang Ran in disbelief.

They had been together for a while, and although Tang Ran would throw tantrums, she had never laid a hand on him.

Pain spread across his face, and Song Wuqi gritted his teeth, suppressing his anger: "What are you doing?!"

As the eldest daughter of the Song family, she had never been beaten since she could remember, let alone slapped in public.

She wanted to just turn and leave, but the next moment she clenched her fist, took a deep breath and suppressed her anger.

"You've had too much to drink, I won't hold it against you, just don't throw a tantrum."

"roll!"

Tang Ran shook off her hand.

Her head was throbbing and aching, and the words she uttered came out entirely on instinct.

Based on what she had just remembered, she didn't want to see that scumbag Song Wuqi at all.

They were standing in the corridor of the private room when passersby heard the noise and looked over.

Having lost face in front of everyone, Song Wuqi completely lost his patience.

She gave Tang Ran a deep look before striding away.

Watching Song Wuqi's figure disappear around the corner, Tang Ran seemed to have exhausted her last bit of strength. She staggered and had to lean against the wall to barely stand.

Song Wuqi walked out with a cold face, his anger growing stronger with each step.

Once he stepped out of the deserted corner, he kicked the metal trash can against the wall hard.

After kicking it several times, leaving a deep dent in the metal sheet, Song Wuqi finally stopped.

She took a deep breath, put on a calm expression, and walked out.

He took the elevator directly to the underground parking garage and walked expressionlessly to his car.

The people waiting by the car saw her coming and moved away from the car door they were leaning against with a slight panic. She tugged at her floral dress.

He lowered his head shyly and said, "Manager Song."

Song Wuqi frowned slightly, then quickly composed himself. "Why are you still here?"

She came to the bar to find someone after receiving a call from Tang Ran's friend. At the time, she was explaining work matters for her business trip the next day to her assistant, Ye Xiaoyu.

His friend was urging him to hurry up, so Song Wuqi and his assistant finished discussing the work in the car.

When she got off the bus, she remembered telling Ye Xiaoyu not to wait for her and that she could just go home after get off work.

"I accidentally left the documents in the car," Ye Xiaoyu said softly, her face flushed.

Ye Xiaoyu is an outstanding graduate of Jiangda University. She has been Song Wuqi's assistant for several months and has always been very careful and conscientious, never making such a small mistake.

The last person to look at the document was Song Wuqi. She glanced at it and casually put it aside without returning it to Ye Xiaoyu.

Song Wuqi also remembered this matter, and his expression softened. "I forgot. I'll give it to you."

"Mm." Ye Xiaoyu nodded lightly.

Song Wuqi found Ye Xiaoyu's file under his own documents, pulled it out, and handed it to her.

Ye Xiaoyu carefully put away the documents, then looked up at Song Wuqi, pursing her lips as if she wanted to say something but hesitated.

"What's wrong?" Song Wuqi asked.

Ye Xiaoyu hesitated for a moment, then said worriedly, "Manager Song, what a face you have."

Song Wuqi realized what was happening.

She was so angry just now that she forgot that there was probably a handprint on her face. Now that she was reminded, she actually felt a little pain.

"It's nothing." Song Wuqi didn't want to explain further. "Go back now, and send me the revised PPT as soon as possible."

The project, which I've been working on for several months, will have its first meeting tomorrow after a business trip.

"Okay, Manager Song, don't worry, I will definitely do a good job." Ye Xiaoyu nodded obediently.

He added, "Wait a moment, I'll buy you an ice pack to apply."

After Ye Xiaoyu finished speaking, she walked out, but Song Wuqi stopped her, saying, "No need, I'll handle it myself when I get back."

"It will be harder to get rid of if it takes too long. We're going to Guangzhou tomorrow." Ye Xiaoyu's expression showed a cautious nervousness.

Thinking about his business trip tomorrow, Song Wuqi felt even more resentful of Tang Ran's slap.

“I live not far away, and I have some medicine to reduce swelling at home. Why don’t you come to my house, Mr. Song, and I’ll apply some medicine for you?” Ye Xiaoyu suggested, a little nervously.

Song Wuqi looked down at her.

Ye Xiaoyu lowered her head, her slightly flushed face revealing her shyness.

"Alright."

Song Wuqi wasn't oblivious; she had long since realized that Ye Xiaoyu had feelings for her. In fact, compared to Tang Ran's spoiled and lively personality, Song Wuqi preferred Ye Xiaoyu's shy, gentle, and demure nature.

Tang Ran is prone to jealousy, and she has always intentionally avoided getting too close to Ye Xiaoyu.

In the past, Song Wuqi would never have agreed to Ye Xiaoyu's request, but after being slapped by Tang Ran, Song Wuqi was filled with resentment and, as if possessed, agreed.

Inside the bar.

As the alcohol took effect, Tang Ran's consciousness became increasingly blurred, and chaotic fragments kept flashing through her mind.

One second they were exchanging rings at her wedding with Song Wuqi, and the next they were arguing during a trip together.

Tang Ran's mind was a mess, and she couldn't remember what they had argued about. She only remembered that she realized she had misunderstood Song Wuqi after she got angry.

Song Wuqi turned to leave, but she reached out to pull her back.

bite.

The elevator arrived at the private room on the second floor. Song Zhixu stepped out, and her phone vibrated.

She looked down at the screen; it was a call from her friend Murong Yi.

Just as my thumb touched the green icon, I was bumped into by someone coming in from outside the elevator.

The rich, sweet aroma mingled with the strong smell of alcohol, and Song Zhixu frowned, wanting to avoid it.

Before she could react, the person in her arms had already wrapped their arms tightly around her.

"Please don't be angry anymore, okay?"

His fair cheeks were flushed, and his amber eyes were filled with a hazy, misty light, looking at her like a kitten, trying to please her.

The familiar face overlapped with the person in her memory, and Song Zhixu was slightly taken aback, then lowered her hand that was about to push the person away.

Tang Ran felt weak in her legs and swayed unsteadily.

Song Zhixu gently put his arm around her shoulder to prevent her from falling, and tentatively asked, "Tang Ran?"

Her brain was still in a jumble of confused memories, and Tang Ran instinctively mistook Song Zhixu for Song Wuqi.

She raised her hand and wrapped it around Song Zhixu's neck, pleading softly, "Don't be angry anymore, I'll listen to you from now on, okay?"

The elevator doors closed automatically, and the enclosed space reduced airflow and amplified the body's senses.

The scalding smell of alcohol made Song Zhixu's neck break out in goosebumps. She leaned back slightly, widening the distance between them.

"You're drunk."

Song Zhixu lowered his eyelids slightly, grasped Tang Ran's wrist, and removed her hand.

"No!" Tang Ran clung tightly to her neck, her delicate voice trembling with tears. "Don't go."

Tears slid down her flushed cheeks, reflecting sparse silver light under the lamp.

Seeing that Tang Ran was so drunk that she was barely conscious, Song Zhixu had no choice but to stop what she was doing. Going along with her wishes, he coaxed her softly, "I won't leave. Can I take you home first?"

Tang Ran couldn't hear her words at all; the images in her mind had already switched.

She sat alone in front of her two mothers' graves, leaning against the tombstones and weeping.

The elevator doors, which had been closed, opened again; someone had pressed the elevator button.

Upon seeing the intimate embrace inside the elevator, the person smiled apologetically and quickly pressed the close button.

Song Zhixu slowly exhaled, turned slightly to the side while holding Tang Ran's waist, raised his hand to press B1, and then raised his hand to dial the driver Lao Zhang's number.

The phone rang only once before it was answered, "President Song."

"Drive to the elevator and wait for me."

"yes."

When Lao Zhang started the car and drove to the access door at the elevator entrance, Song Zhixu was just coming out with Tang Ran in his arms.

He quickly parked the car and jogged to the back to open the back door for them.

Even after Tang Ran got into the car, she still wouldn't let go. Helpless, Song Zhixu had no choice but to half-hold her in his arms and say to Old Zhang, "Let's go back to Shengming Mansion."

Old Zhang glanced at the car silently through the rearview mirror as he started the engine.

Their CEO, Mr. Song, usually seems quite approachable, but in private he keeps his distance from everyone.

Old Zhang had been her driver for several years, and this was the first time he had ever seen her so close to someone else.

On his way there, he overheard Song Zhixu answering a phone call and learned that she was coming to the bar to meet with Murong Yi.

How come he carried a girl downstairs in just a short while?

And this girl looks somewhat familiar.

Just as Lao Zhang was thinking of taking another look, the partition inside the car switched to a fogging mode.

Silent tears turned into sobs, and then into whimpers.

The silk shirt was completely soaked with tears, sticking damply to Song Zhixu's chest and feeling a little hot.

Song Zhixu let out a soft breath, gently patting Tang Ran's back with one hand to help her catch her breath, while using the other hand to slide the control panel to adjust the car's air conditioning to high-power ventilation.

The cool air diluted the humid atmosphere inside the car, and the voice in her arms gradually subsided.

Song Zhixu looked down.

Tang Ran had her eyes closed, a few scattered teardrops still clinging to her curled eyelashes, and the blush on her face was made even more alluring by her crying.

Her bright face has long since shed the immaturity of my memories, and is now mature and full of captivating charm.

The only thing that hasn't changed is that no matter how old she gets, she's still a little crybaby.

After watching quietly for a while, noticing Tang Ran's even breathing, Song Zhixu carefully removed Tang Ran's hands from her neck.

Just as Song Zhixu finished buying one, his phone vibrated again.

Startled from her dream, Tang Ran frowned and reached out to grab Song Zhixu's clothes at the collarbone.

The silk shirt couldn't withstand the force, and Tang Ran pulled it so hard that a pearl button popped off.

Song Zhixu pressed the red icon, brought up the green bubble icon, and sent a message to Murong Yi: Something's up, I'll get back to you in a bit.

Shengming Mansion is a high-end residential area in the city center. Old Zhang only made two turns before he parked his car steadily at the entrance of the underground parking garage elevator.

Song Zhixu half-carried the person out, and when Lao Zhang tried to help, she stopped him.

"You can go back now, I can manage on my own."

Old Zhang withdrew his hand, quickly returned to his car, and drove away.

Shengming Mansion was developed relatively early. The complex consists of only two buildings: one is a large single-level apartment with elevator access, and the other is a high-end apartment with two elevators serving two households.

Song Zhixu led her directly to Building 2. The apartment manager recognized Song Zhixu and pressed the elevator button for her.

After exiting the elevator, Song Zhixu paused for a moment before helping the person to room 1902.

After trying two of Tang Ran's fingers without success, Song Zhixu waved to light up the screen and entered a default password.

After two beeps, the door lock clicked open.

The entryway light turned on immediately.

A shoe cabinet in macaron colors, neatly arranged with various cute figurines, and colorful comic book manuscripts hanging directly opposite the door.

The unconventional dopamine-inspired decor perfectly reflects the homeowner's personality.

Song Zhixu glanced at it once and then looked away.

When she entered the initial password, she thought she would see a bare cement house when she opened the door.

"Hmm."

Tang Ran murmured something on his shoulder, and Song Zhixu snapped out of his reverie, bending down to take off Tang Ran's shoes.

The person in my arms was exceptionally cooperative. After taking off the left shoe, they proactively lifted their right foot, not appearing to be asleep.

Song Zhixu looked up and, sure enough, met a pair of round, bright eyes.
