Chapter 66. Be nice, sister.

Chapter 66. Be nice, sister.

The price of their indulgence was that they almost couldn't find their "abandoned" shopping cart.

For dinner, Shang Shu made creamy mushroom pasta according to the recipe. She didn't make much, and only served a little to Gu Sui. The sauce was diluted with low-fat cream, and the pasta was cooked slightly firm to avoid it being too oily and the carbohydrates being absorbed too quickly. She had specifically asked the housekeeper about this.

Shang Shu rarely cooks. When they were in Aicheng, Gu Sui always cooked for her. If you think about it carefully, she has only ever put a lot of effort into making apple pie once. But this time, the taste was surprisingly good. Gu Sui ate it with great enthusiasm and even praised her for having some talent.

After dinner, Shang Shu told Gu Sui to rest on the sofa and not to let anyone help her. She then fiddled with hanging the large bow on the Christmas tree. Gu Sui propped his head up and teased her, telling her to move it a little to the left and a little to the right. Later, when her arms started to ache, she belatedly realized that this wasn't like hanging a painting on the wall. It wouldn't matter if it was a little crooked on the tree. Afraid that Gu Sui would have an upset stomach, she didn't dare to bother her. So she could only secretly remember this and settle the score later.

After resting for a while, the two prepared to make apple pie. Before leaving the sofa, Gu Sui moved her fingers, and the top-of-the-line built-in speakers on the waterfront began playing the Christmas playlist she had selected, all of which were songs that Shang Shu liked to listen to.

Shang Shu paused, her hand still wrapped in her apron, and tilted her head to look at Gu Sui: "Why are you being so romantic now?"

"Not before?" Gu Sui crossed his arms and deliberately leaned against the island platform, expressing his dissatisfaction.

Seeing this, Shang Shu smiled and smoothed things over, "Yes, yes, yes, could you please ask this charming lady to help me tie my apron?"

Gu Sui couldn't help but smile. He then walked behind Shang Shu, tied an apron for her, took a washed apple, peeled it, and started cutting it.

"Be careful not to cut your hand." Shang Shu said to Gu Sui as she poured the flour, but she didn't pay attention to the force she used. The flour "plop"ed into the bowl, and the white steam made the two of them laugh and cough at the same time.

"Gu Sui".

"Hmm?" Gu Sui turned his head without warning.

"I'll do your makeup." Shang Shu took the opportunity to rub some flour on the person's cheek with her finger, then smiled and held her hand up.

"How old are you?" Gu Sui rubbed his face with the back of his hand and chuckled helplessly. Although he said this, his hand unconsciously reached out and touched a little bit of the nose, even as Shang Shu tried to dodge.

Shang Shu laughed so hard she almost choked, tears welling up in her eyes. Leaning against the kitchen counter, she said aggrievedly, "You're older than me, why don't you know how to be more considerate of me?"

"Oh?" Gu Sui walked behind the person, stretched his arm in front, pressed the base of his palm (which wasn't covered in flour) against Shang Shu's lower abdomen, and whispered in her ear, "Then why didn't you call me 'sister'?"

Shang Shu took a deep breath, her blood boiling again. Just as she was about to turn around and kiss him, the breath on her ear vanished instantly, and the hand on her waist withdrew without a sound.

When she turned around in surprise, she saw Gu Sui standing beside her, cutting an apple without changing his expression.

"Gu Sui..." Shang Shu leaned closer to him, wanting to kiss him, but seeing the knife in Gu Sui's hand, she didn't dare to go too far.

Gu Sui curled his lips, glanced at the little girl indifferently, and continued his elegant hand movements, gently saying, "Naughty."

Shang Shu could only grumble a few times, pouting and angrily going back to knead the dough.

While the filling was being cooked, Shang Shu stirred the apples in the pot and complained to Gu Sui, "You know what? When I made this before, I had never been in a kitchen. I didn't know that you had to pour milk into the syrup little by little in several batches. As a result, it splattered so badly that I got several small blisters on my hands. It hurt so much."

Gu Sui took the spatula from Shang Shu's hand with a touch of heartache: "Then why didn't you think of just letting it go?"

"That won't do. You have everything you need. This is all the sincerity I can offer." Seeing that the man's expression softened, Shang Shu suppressed the corners of her lips that were about to curl up and reached out to poke the dough next to her.

Upon hearing this, Gu Sui exhaled softly and reached out to turn off the stove.

Actually, back then, they had already spent some time together and both knew how they felt about each other. They were just waiting for one of them to say it first. So even if Shang Shu didn't come on Christmas Eve, she planned to find a suitable time and person to confess her feelings.

“How can I not need you? I need you.” She smiled, took Shang Shu’s hand, and together they put the pie crust into the baking pan.

Shang Shu then brazenly curled her lips into a smile, poking holes in the bottom of the pie with a fork while whispering teasingly, "Someone just wouldn't let me kiss them."

"Come on, be careful." Gu Sui raised his chin slightly, gesturing for Shang Shu to move her hand away. He then strained apples from the pot and placed them on the pie crust, continuing, "I wonder who started this nonsense first."

Shang Shu didn't respond, but just quickened her pace. Although she was still not very familiar with the kitchen, she was always good with her hands. In no time, she had finished making the diamond pattern on the apple pie. This was partly because she had done this before and had some experience, and partly because there were other things that required her dexterity to do.

After stuffing the apple pie into the oven, Shang Shu glanced at Gu Sui, who was washing his hands, and felt a little distracted.

"Gu Sui, my hands are dirty, could you help me take off my apron?"

Actually, as soon as she finished speaking, Shang Shu regretted it a little, because she realized that dirty hands were a really lame excuse. The apron itself wasn't very clean either, and besides, she was only two steps away from the sink, so she could have washed her hands before taking off her apron.

But words spoken are like water spilled; she could only hope that Gu Sui would ignore them.

She just seemed to have forgotten that Gu Sui was a PhD.

Gu Sui turned off the water, glanced at the person indifferently, and didn't move: "Come here, wash your hands, I'll help you untie."

Shang Shu pursed her lips, forcing herself to remain calm as she walked over. Even though she had set the trap herself, why did she feel like she'd been tricked?

The water flowed over the back of my hand, spread between my fingers, then reached my fingertips, and then turned over to wet my palm.

"How long do you need to bake it?" Shang Shu asked Gu Sui as if she were possessed.

The water was a little cool and a little itchy, like the faint, ticklish sensation on my lower back.

"Thirty-five minutes." Gu Sui took off the apron from the person, hung it back in its original place, and then reached out to touch the switch on the wall.

When the sound of water stopped, the lights went out; they were of one mind, their hearts were in perfect harmony.

The only light around her was the warm yellow glow of the oven. As soon as Gu Sui turned around, someone grabbed her waist and pushed her to the edge of the island counter. Her back touched the cold marble, which made her flinch even through her pajamas.

"Didn't you promise to give it to me?" Shang Shu reached out and lifted Gu Sui's rounded curves, placing him on the island platform. Her left hand was equally nimble, quickly unbuttoning a few buttons just as she had done with the diamond pattern earlier.

"Hmm..." The fabric slipped down her shoulders, like grape leaves falling from the top of a bunch of grapes, ruffled by the wind, and inadvertently brushed against the ripe, bright purple grapes.

Gu Sui, her breathing erratic, lowered her head and gently kissed Shang Shu's face: "So, do you like this gift?"

Shang Shu carefully sculpted the grapes, as meticulously as she tended to the gemstones at her jewelry stand, making them sparkle and look beautiful. In a moment of silence, she said softly, "I like it, Gu Sui, I like it very much."

The butterfly-shaped shoulder blades kissed the marble, her lover's body trembled slightly in her arms, and their favorite song, "Christmas List," was playing on the stereo.

'Cause I've got everything I need

With you here next to me

So how could I not like it, Gu Sui?

The island was large and clean, and the women were no longer confined to a corner. Instead, they used their body heat to warm up the colder areas.

Shang Shu glanced at the hand gripping the edge of the island counter, deliberately stopped her rhythm, and moved closer to the center with her arm around the person.

"Hold on to me." Her breath sprayed onto the beautiful grapes, as if to freeze the dew on them into frost. She didn't want Gu Sui to hold onto anything else; she only wanted her to hold onto her.

"Ah Shu..." Gu Sui hooked his arm around Shang Shu's neck, his brows furrowed in discomfort, and his eyes welled up with tears.

Shang Shu was satisfied, and then continued gently. She put her arm behind her back, stroking her soft waist and whispering, "Good girl, sister."

A tightness gripped the back of my neck; Gu Sui had arrived.

Shang Shu held Gu Sui in her arms, waiting for him to calm down. She chuckled and asked the person in her arms, "Why do you like him so much?"

Gu Sui's eyelashes were still trembling. She weakly raised her limp hand and covered Shang Shu's lips with it, even her fingertips turning pink.

The aroma of apples mixed with cinnamon began to fill the air. They came to the red velvet bow and kissed, just like they would under the Christmas tree at Edinburgh. The hanging fairy lights illuminated their moist eyes, and their gazes swayed with the rise and fall of their chests.

"Help me take it off." Shang Shu's voice was soft and gentle. Her fingertips, which were not yet dry, tapped lightly one by one. Then, just as her voice was about to fade away, she pulled it off without any force. Hearing the expected sudden gasp, she couldn't help but curl the corners of her lips into a smug smile.

There were no decorative balls on the Christmas tree, but Shang Shu knew they had some, hidden where only she and Gu Sui could see them. They would take them out to look at them on occasions like this, carefully tracing their own and each other's designs.

Shang Shu helped Gu Sui down slowly, then hooked her clothes over and laid them on the warm wooden floor.

As clever as Gu Sui was, how could she not understand Shang Shu's meaning? She slowly lay down, the blush on her cheeks still lingering, her long hair flowing like an ink painting. Gazing into those captivating peach blossom eyes, she surrendered herself completely through her actions.

Tell her you can do anything you want to me.

With his knees bent over the ceiling, his legs forming the same shape as the Christmas tree beside him, the glow of the colored lights began to distort and swirl. Gu Sui raised the back of his hand to his lips, the large red bow almost invisible.

"Don't hold back." Shang Shu took Gu Sui's hand and intertwined their fingers, just like every time they intertwined their fingers, yet it was also different.

Without protection, Gu Sui instinctively wanted to bite her lip, but she couldn't keep up with her gasping for breath. Her interlocked fingers suddenly tightened, and she let out a heavy sigh from deep in her chest, trembling as tears welled up in her eyes.

Shang Shu also lay on her side on the ground, wiping away Gu Sui's tears with her knuckles. They embraced tightly. Every grape looked beautiful, as if it had been frozen in a refrigerator. She lowered her head to admire it, smiling as she watched Gu Sui's already chaotic breathing become even more disordered.

A similar Christmas tree, but instead of gray stone bricks and green lawn, there is now oak flooring stained with water.

They were still the same lovers embracing, but their entanglement was no longer just of lips and bodies, but of two burning souls ignited by each other.
