Ye Xinning removed his hand and walked onto the balcony.
Shen Lin noticed that something was wrong with her mood and walked over. He turned her around, his eyes full of confusion, "What's wrong with you?"
"Let's talk about the child later."
She had only recently learned that she was not pregnant, and she was still not quite used to Shen Lin's quick proposal to have another child.
Shen Lin noticed her refusal and his gaze dimmed, assuming that she didn't want the child.
So why not want children?
Is it because of him, or for some other reason?
Shen Lin remained silent, his deep gaze fixed on her face, lost in thought.
Ye Xinning didn't notice his odd behavior. She changed the subject and asked, "Have you told Grandma about us moving out?"
"No."
Ye Xinning frowned, not wanting him to speak yet. Thinking of Shen Lin's relationship with the old lady, she asked softly, "Is it because you don't know how to bring it up?"
"What?"
Ye Xinning rephrased the question, "Is this question difficult for you? Or is it that moving here makes you feel like you're giving up something?"
Seeing how much she was thinking, Shen Lin silently shook his head and smiled, no longer thinking about the child. He pulled her into his arms, lowered his head, and said gently, "I've had the idea of moving out for a while now, it's not something I'm doing now. I'll go back to see Grandma when I have time, that's all, don't overthink it, okay?"
He comforted her with words of reassurance, trying to calm her down and prevent her from dwelling on unnecessary thoughts.
Ye Xinning was initially a little uneasy, but after hearing Shen Lin's words, she was completely relieved.
"Um."
The two stayed in the room for a long time. Most of their things from the Shen family's place had been delivered, and they had also bought a lot of other daily necessities. Ye Xinning looked at the house and still felt very surprised. She and Shen Lin were living alone. It all felt like a dream.
At dinner time, Aunt Ning came upstairs to call them to eat. Ye Xinning and Shen Lin went downstairs and had just finished eating when they heard Aunt Ning say something.
"Madam Xi Yuan has arrived."
Ye Xinning and Shen Lin were surprised. Soon Xi Yuan walked in, accompanied by the Shen family's driver, who was carrying large and small bags. It seemed that Xi Yuan had brought them a lot of things.
“Chen Lin, Ning Ning.” Xi Yuan held Ye Xin Ning’s hand, her face full of a kind and friendly smile.
"Aunt Xi, why did you come? You should have told us beforehand. Have you eaten yet?" Ye Xinning was also very happy. Xi Yuan's visit was a way of warming up their new home.
"I've already eaten. I just thought you'd only just moved in and probably hadn't prepared enough things, so I brought you some things."
“Actually, I’ve already asked Wenzhu to prepare everything that needs to be prepared,” Shen Lin said in a low voice.
Xi Yuan shook her head and smiled, "Then consider it a small gift from me. If you need anything else later, remember to let me know."
Ye Xinning nodded and led Xi Yuan to sit down on the sofa.
"By the way, why isn't Dad coming over?" Ye Xinning asked.
Xi Yuan sighed, "He's been very busy, I don't know which friend invited him to dinner. But before I came, he told you to stay at Ming Mansion without worry, and that we'll take care of things at the Shen family's place."
Ye Xinning was deeply moved by Xi Yuan and Shen Yu's support for their move-out.
After sitting in the living room for a while, Shen Lin received a work-related phone call and went out.
Xi Yuan continued chatting with Ye Xinning, saying mysteriously, "We never expected that Shen Lin would handle this matter so well. Moving out means that no matter how much Jiang An tries to cause trouble, it will be in vain."
When Jiang An was mentioned, Ye Xinning lowered her head slightly and spoke in a calm and unhurried voice. With the support of Shen Lin's attitude during this period, she was more confident. "Didn't she want to live in the Shen family? Then let her live there. It's okay if Grandma protects her. As for the child in her belly, didn't she insist that it was Shen Lin's? Then let's talk about it after the child is born."
Xi Yuan shared a similar thought.
“That’s right, she can’t just call something black even if it’s white.”
"Um."
Xi Yuan felt extremely relieved just thinking about how Jiang An hadn't seen Shen Lin these past few days.
However, Xi Yuan did think of something.
"Grandma Shenlin will probably find out about you moving out soon, and she'll definitely make a scene then, so don't take it to heart."
Ye Xinning nodded, indicating that she understood.
"Don't worry, Aunt Xi. I know I have basic manners. She is an elder."
"Okay, that's good."
Xi Yuan didn't stay long before leaving. Ye Xinning and Shen Lin wanted to see her off, but Xi Yuan refused.
"I have a driver here, you don't need to take me. It's getting late, you should get some rest and not go through all that trouble."
After hearing this, Ye Xinning and Shen Lin stopped pressuring him.
...
Upon arriving at Ming Mansion, Ye Xinning felt much freer than when she was at the Shen family home. She realized that she hadn't cooked for a long time, and having just moved, she suddenly had the urge to cook for herself.
She left work early that evening, and Shen Lin messaged her to ask if she wanted him to pick her up.
Ye Xinning gave him the supermarket's address directly. Although Shen Lin was puzzled about the purpose of going to the supermarket, he still listened to her and drove there to meet her.
Chen Lin went to the supermarket and called Ye Xinning on his phone.
"Hello."
Where is it?
Have you arrived yet?
"Um."
"I'm in the supermarket, in the vegetable section. Just come over here."
Shen Lin hung up the phone and walked straight towards the vegetable section.
He soon spotted that familiar figure in the vegetable section. He walked over and, as if no one else was around, hugged Ye Xinning from behind.
Ye Xinning was startled at first, until the man's familiar voice rang in her ears, "Why did you suddenly decide to come and buy groceries?"
Ye Xinning turned around to look at him. She was still a little embarrassed to be intimate in front of so many people, and it wasn't appropriate to be so affectionate in public.
She pushed him away and said in a low voice, "I want to cook."
"You have a chef at home, so you don't have to work so hard."
Ye Xinning didn't find it hard work. "We just moved, so we should have some sense of ceremony. Besides, I haven't cooked in a long time. If I don't brush up on my cooking skills, I'm afraid I'll become rusty."
Shen Lin had no choice but to accompany her to buy groceries.
When Ye Xinning was living alone abroad, she often cooked. After returning to China and marrying Shen Lin, she became busy with work and the Shen family had many members, so she gradually stopped cooking.
Now that she lives alone with Shen Lin, she longs to experience the simple, everyday life of a married couple.
