At the end of the hospital corridor, Ji Jianshen's gaze fell into the distance, while Zhou Yun was talking beside him.
"Sir, the investigation has been completed. The person Mr. Song met today was Song Xiang."
Song Xiang?
Ji Jianshen's gaze deepened. "Do you know what I'm talking about?"
"We haven't found anything yet, but if I'm not mistaken, it should be about Mu Mingwei."
Ji Jian squinted his eyes, and after a long while, he spoke, "What about the car accident? Any leads?"
Zhou Yun shook his head. "The person who planned this car accident was very clever. They damaged the cameras beforehand, and the car crashed at high speed and left the scene quickly, leaving no clues for investigation."
Ji Jianshen's gaze deepened.
"Continue the investigation. There's something fishy about Uncle Song's sudden meeting with Song Xiang. Uncle Song must have met with Song Xiang because Song Xiang has something that Uncle Song wants."
Speaking of this matter, Zhou Yun thought of something strange. "Sir, look, this is a video of the scene that I got from a passerby."
Ji Jianshen took the video from Zhou Yun and looked down at it carefully. Halfway through, the sight of a woman's back made Ji Jianshen press the pause button.
Who is this person?
Zhou Yun shook his head. "I don't know. The scene was chaotic. This woman was only seen from behind. And what's certain is that she was very close to Mr. Song's car at the time, so she could be considered one of the first witnesses. But when I went to look for her later, I couldn't find her anywhere. It was as if she had vanished into thin air."
Ji Jianshen's gaze shifted. "Go investigate. Find out who this person is."
"Yes, sir."
After Zhou Yun finished speaking, she looked at Ji Jianshen with a hesitant expression.
Ji Jianshen looked at him. "What's wrong? Is there something else you want to say?"
"Will Miss soften her heart because of the fact that the Shen family member donated blood to Mr. Song? Should I do something for her?"
Mentioning Shen Lin, Ji Jianshen's gaze once again fell into the distance. He spoke, his voice very low.
"Need not."
Zhou Yun persisted, saying, "Sir, you've finally reached this point. You can't let Miss's heart be filled with that man again because of other things."
"I know my own affairs. You just need to do what I ask you to do. You don't need to worry about anything else."
Zhou Yun wanted to say something more, but Ji Jianshen didn't intend to continue. "Alright, go check on the things I arranged. I know what to do with the rest."
After Zhou Yun left, Ji Jianshen stood at the end of the corridor for a long time before turning around and walking towards the intensive care unit.
Ji Jianshen arrived here, but unexpectedly did not see Ye Xinning.
He was just about to ask someone when he looked up and saw Ye Xinning standing not far away, surrounded by Shen Lin against the wall.
The two were very close and their actions were intimate, causing Ji Jianshen to stop in his tracks.
After a long while, he looked at Ye Xinning and Shen Lin again, then turned and walked away in another direction without saying a word.
Neither Ye Xinning nor Shen Lin noticed the person who had just arrived. Shen Lin was weak and pale after giving Song Zhengchu a blood transfusion, and in such a terrible state, all he wanted was to see Ye Xinning.
The thought that she had appeared with Ji Jianshen before filled him with unbearable heartache. "Have you and Ji Jianshen become this intimate?"
Ye Xinning had just come out of the ward when Shen Lin blocked her way. She wanted to push Shen Lin away and leave, but looking at Shen Lin's pale and bloodless face, which was all because he had given blood to her father, Ye Xinning felt a little reluctant.
"What happens between Ji Jianshen and me is my business. Shen Lin, thank you for donating blood to my father. In the future, as long as it is within my power, I will grant you one request even if it goes against my will. Consider this a debt I owe you."
As Shen Lin listened to Ye Xinning's words, his lips turned pale, and he said with a self-deprecating tone, "What I want is for you to owe me? What I want is for you to owe me?"
Shen Lin repeated the same sentence twice, each time with increasing gritted teeth.
Ye Xinning lowered her head, avoiding looking into Shen Lin's eyes. "I can't give you what you want. I thank you for what happened today, but I'm leaving now. Let go of me."
With her father still unconscious in the intensive care unit, Ye Xinning really had no heart to talk to Shen Lin about love and romance.
However, her anxious attitude took on a completely different meaning in Shen Lin's eyes.
Shen Lin lifted her chin, forcing her to look him in the eye.
Are you in such a hurry to go find Ji Jianshen?
Ye Xinning looked at Shen Lin, puzzled, "Which word of mine meant that I was going to find Ji Jianshen?"
"In my opinion, that's exactly what you meant."
Ye Xinning felt that Shen Lin was somewhat unreasonable.
She ignored him and pushed his hand away to leave.
But Shen Lin pulled her back abruptly, "Ningning."
This fragile and aggrieved cry made Ye Xinning freeze, forgetting her basic reaction.
"Can you please not be so nice to others so quickly? I can't accept it."
Ye Xinning knew that Shen Lin was referring to Ji Jianshen.
So, in Shen Lin's view, does her kindness towards Ji Jianshen have another layer of meaning?
But hasn't her relationship with Ji Jianshen always been like this?
“Shen Lin, it’s over between us. All we have is that marriage certificate. Once things are settled here, I will return to China to finalize the divorce. You should let it go.”
After Ye Xinning finished speaking, Shen Lin ignored him and forcefully pulled him into his arms.
"I can't let go."
"When it hurts, you'll naturally let go."
Ye Xinning didn't know why, but this sentence just came to mind.
Shen Lin stared intently into her eyes without blinking.
Ye Xinning was preoccupied with her father's affairs and had no time to think. "Chen Lin, my father was in a car accident and is still unconscious. I don't have time to talk to you about anything else. Let me go. I have a lot of things waiting for me to deal with."
Why didn't you ask me how I knew Dad had an accident?
Although hearing this title from Shen Lin was jarring, Ye Xinning was more concerned about something else than the title itself.
"You were contacting my dad at the time, and you said you heard the sound of an impact?"
These are things that Chen Lin mentioned on the phone earlier.
Shen Lin nodded.
Can you guess who caused my dad's car accident?
Shen Lin did not answer Ye Xinning's question, but instead brought up another matter.
“The person Dad met was Aunt Song Xiang. I called Dad because I wanted a stack of photos that he got from Aunt Song Xiang.”
"Photographs?" Ye Xinning said to herself, "What photographs? I've never seen them before."
Shen Lin remained silent, only looking at Ye Xinning. Ye Xinning suddenly understood something.
"The photos are missing."
