After tidying up her things in the bedroom and putting them into Chen Lin's wardrobe, Ye Xinning felt a distinct sense of pleasure as she watched the bedroom gradually fill up with her belongings.
After tidying up, Ye Xinning felt a little sleepy, so she took a nap on the bed.
I had originally planned to take a short nap, but perhaps it's because of this period of time...
She slept very soundly, so much so that when she woke up in the evening, she felt a little dizzy.
It was already dark outside the window. Ye Xinning looked into the bedroom. It was her first day here, and she still felt a little unfamiliar with the place.
While she was still in a daze, the bedroom door was pushed open from the outside, and the next second, Shen Lin walked in from outside.
He came in without turning on the light; there was still only the faint light from the bedside lamp.
Shen Lin was somewhat surprised to see Ye Xinning wake up.
He went to the bedside, looked at the person on the bed, and said in a gentle voice, "Awake?"
Ye Xinning nodded. "I just woke up. What about you? When did you get back?"
"I've been back for a while now. The maid told me you were sleeping, so I didn't come up to disturb you."
Ye Xinning thought of her two children, "Where are the children?"
"They're playing in the living room."
Hearing this, Ye Xinning felt much more at ease. She gazed at Shen Lin's eyes and took the initiative to reach out and hug Shen Lin's neck.
"Mr. Shen."
"What did you call me?" Shen Lin's long, slender hand landed on her waist, and he leaned in to kiss her lips.
Ye Xinning shook her head, pretending not to know, "What?"
"We got our marriage certificate, honey."
Ye Xinning chuckled, still pretending not to know, "Let me ask you a question, why did you keep my photos in your bedroom, in places where you could see them everywhere, during those four years?"
"Want to know?"
"Um."
"Then what should you call me?"
Ye Xinning couldn't help but laugh. This man was still determined to know what she called him.
"Honey, is it okay now?"
Shen Lin leaned down and kissed her lips deeply.
After the kiss ended, Ye Xinning leaned against Shen Lin's chest, breathing slightly heavily, while Shen Lin's deep gaze fell on her face.
"I want to see you anytime, anywhere." That was his answer to the question we just discussed.
Ye Xinning leaned against Shen Lin's chest, her fingers tracing irregular lines on his chest. "But people often say that seeing things reminds you of someone. Won't you feel even worse if you see my photo?"
"It was painful, but I couldn't live without you in my life. For those four years, I lived in a daze every day. The only thing that gave me any hope was that when I went back to my bedroom at night, I could see your picture. Your every smile and frown would accompany me to sleep. That was my only support."
Ye Xinning's heart tightened again upon hearing Shen Lin's words.
She looked up, staring into Chen Lin's eyes, and asked, "What if you can't find me? What if we don't meet again in Jiangcheng?"
"If we never met, then I will keep waiting until the day you are willing to come back."
Moved, Ye Xinning raised her head again and kissed Shen Lin's lips.
"Chen Lin, I'm back. I'll never leave again."
Shen Lin stared into her eyes, and the next second, he grabbed her head and kissed her without saying a word.
His kiss was much more urgent than his previous gentle persuasion.
The temperature in the bedroom rose rapidly, and when Shen Lin's kiss landed on Ye Xinning's collarbone, she still retained the last shred of her rationality.
She tried to calm herself down.
"Mr. Shen, we haven't eaten yet."
"Feed me first."
Ye Xinning, "..."
...
Afterwards, Ye Xinning lay in bed, completely exhausted.
The bedroom door was pushed open from the outside, and Shen Lin came in carrying food.
Ye Xinning glared at him angrily, wondering how this man could be so troublesome. She felt uncomfortable all over her body.
"Weren't you saying you were hungry? Come on, eat something."
Ye Xinning pouted, "I don't have the strength."
Shen Lin leaned down and kissed the corner of her lips. "Okay, I'll feed you."
Ye Xinning had been waiting for this very sentence from him. All she wanted to do now was eat and go to sleep; she was so sleepy.
Shen Lin looked at the woman eating with her mouth smacking and her eyes closed, and his heart was filled with warmth.
After dinner, Ye Xinning lay down on the bed and fell asleep, unable to stay awake any longer. The woman's peaceful sleeping face was right in front of him. Shen Lin stared at her for a long time, then lowered his head again and kissed her face.
Goodnight, Mrs. Shen.
...
The next morning.
When Ye Xinning woke up, Shen Lin was no longer in bed. Shen Lin had been so restless last night that she slept until after nine o'clock.
She got up, washed up, changed into a light blue dress, and looked unwell. She put on some light makeup, tidied herself up, and then went downstairs.
Downstairs in the living room, the two children, under the care of the maid, had already started having breakfast.
Seeing her come down, the two children greeted her in unison, "Good morning, Mom."
Ye Xinning nodded and kissed each of their little faces.
"How are you? Are you settling in?" Ye Xinning asked after sitting down.
"Yes, the houses here are bigger than those in Jiangcheng," Ye Zhimu said happily.
"Mom, don't worry about us. We adapt very well," Jing said slowly, still as sensible as ever.
"That's good."
Ye Xinning ate breakfast while talking to them.
Unexpectedly, Ye Zhimu suddenly said something.
"Mom, why didn't you come downstairs for dinner last night?"
Ye Xinning almost spat out the porridge she was drinking. She coughed, and her ears quickly turned red as she remembered why she hadn't come downstairs for dinner.
She looked at Ye Zhimu and said casually, "It's nothing, I don't want to eat."
Ye Zhimu rested her chin on her hand, puzzled, "But Dad said you were very hungry."
Ye Xinning, “…” So what exactly did Shen Lin say to his quirky daughter?
"I remember now, Dad said that although Mom was hungry, she had more important things to do. What were they?"
Seeing the topic spiraling out of control, Ye Xinning took a deep breath. She was about to have a serious talk with Ye Zhimu, realizing that children shouldn't have such strong curiosity, especially about their parents.
Before she could finish speaking, her phone, which was on the dining table, rang.
Ye Xinning looked down and saw that it was Shen Lin.
She calmly took the phone and looked at Ye Zhimu and Mo Jing. "I'm taking this call. Mo Jing, you and your sister eat properly."
After saying that, she picked up her phone, answered the call, and walked towards the sofa in the living room.
"Hello."
"Mrs. Shen." On the phone, Shen Lin's voice was as deep as ever.
Ye Xinning hummed in agreement.
"How are you? Are you still feeling unwell?"
