In Niujin City, Han Yi took An Ning to a Western restaurant. Steak, red wine, and a violin were served. An Ning ate the steak but didn't like the taste. In her spare time, An Ning especially liked to go to the Chinese antique street in Chinatown. She liked Chinese-style things and bought a lot of porcelain vases to decorate her home. An Ning ate her food listlessly. Han Yi introduced her to a blond, blue-eyed gentleman in a suit sitting opposite her.
Han Yi: "Anning, this is Jack. He is a translator of classical literature. This is the first time you two have met. Exchange contact information!"
Jack: "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Anning."
An Ning: "Hello."
Jack: "Anning, I want to know you. What do you believe in?"
An Ning: "I believe in cause and effect, and I believe in fate."
Jack: "Cause and effect? What is fate?"
Anning: "Something that can't be seen or touched."
Jack: "I don't believe such a substance exists."
Anning: "Oh..."
At the dinner table, Han Yi introduced her blind date, Jack. An Ning gave him a perfunctory reply. Jack had a basic understanding of An Ning and found her quite special. An Ning also learned that Jack was a typical materialist, and they couldn't really connect on many points. An Ning didn't feel anything for him. She didn't know why, but she just didn't want to be in a relationship. It seemed like no one could get into her heart. The meal was rather dull. Han Yi awkwardly tried to strike up a conversation. Han Yi wanted to give them some time alone, so she went to the restroom. When it was just the two of them, Jack looked An Ning up and down a few times. An Ning didn't look at him. Her straight suit looked rather awkward.
Jack: "Miss Anning, what are your dating experiences like?"
An Ning: "I've never been in a relationship."
Jack: "Really?"
An Ning: "I don't lie."
Jack: "Great, we're such a good match."
Anning: "You've never been in a relationship either?"
Jack: "I've never dated a naive person."
An Ning: "Okay!"
How frivolous. Jack gave Anning the feeling of being caressed. His British English, his suit, everything about him made Anning uncomfortable. Anning didn't know how to get rid of Jack. Jack was still muttering something in her ear.
Jenny: "Peace?"
Anning heard someone call her name, looked up, and saw Jenny walking over with a bowl of peanut butter yogurt. Anning was overjoyed to see Jenny; finally, she had a way to get rid of Jack.
Anning: "Jenny, come here quickly."
Jack turned around and saw a big, fat man in overalls walking over, carrying a patchwork-like drink that Jack had never seen before. Jack straightened his clothes and plopped down in a chair. Anning saw him and felt very friendly, so she took the peanut butter from his hand and started eating.
Anning: "Wow, Jenny, your cooking is amazing! You've blended the peanuts so finely, and they're not greasy at all!"
Jenny: "Whatever you like, this is..."
Jenny looked at Jack, and Jack looked at him. Jack considered himself to be handsome and well-mannered, so he didn't take the fat man seriously.
Anning: "This is a friend my mother introduced to me. His name is Jack. Jack, this is my good friend and also the head chef of my pastry shop, Master Jenny."
Jack nodded, and Jenny smiled at him. Anning finished a small bowl of peanut butter and elegantly wiped her mouth, a beautiful gesture that captivated both men.
Jenny: "Anning, are you tired from work?"
Anning: "It's alright, not too tiring. But you've lost weight! Your belly has shrunk."
Anning playfully patted Jenny's belly, and Jenny smiled at her. Jack saw Anning being so affectionate with Jenny but ignoring him, and a bad feeling crept into his mind. Could it be that Anning had some kind of special fetish?
Jack: "Anning, what kind of person do you want as your future partner?"
Jenny: "No, don't talk about this. You're being very rude. Don't say anything more."
Jack had barely finished asking his question when Jenny interrupted Anning before she could even speak. Jack looked at the gruff, fat man staring at him with some surprise. Jenny had pudding stains on his beard. Jack elegantly ordered Jenny a drink, but Jenny didn't drink it, keeping his eyes fixed on him. Anning noticed that Jenny seemed angry, then looked back. Why hadn't Han Yi returned yet? Anning tried to calm the agitated Jenny down.
Anning: "Jenny, there's pudding on your beard, let me wipe it off for you!"
Jenny turned to look at Anning with extremely gentle eyes. Jack saw this but said nothing. He stood up, paid, and left. Anning breathed a sigh of relief. Finally, he was gone.
Jenny: "Anning, don't pay attention to such frivolous people."
Anning: "I know, I don't like this straight-cut suit, it looks so awkward."
Jenny: "That's why I've never worn a suit in front of you."
Anning: "Hahaha, Jenny, when did you become so funny? Haha, you can't fit into a suit, you look much cuter in overalls."
Jenny: "Hehe, I love seeing you smile."
Anning: "What are you doing here? Isn't today the day you're supposed to visit your mother?"
Jenny: "It's terrible. My mom made me go on a blind date with a 300-pound fat guy. My god, she actually wanted me to make her a drink. I refused, and she left. My mom got angry, so to cheer her up, I made peanut yogurt in the kitchen. I didn't expect to see you there."
Anning: "This bowl of peanut yogurt was made for your mother. I'm sorry, Jenny, I didn't know. I ate it. Where is your mother? I'll go make her another bowl."
