Gals remained silent, her stern face never relaxing, while Allen and Liao Qian tried to smooth things over.
Allen: "Joyce, go take a look at the layout of the pool, and make any necessary changes."
Joyce: "OK."
As soon as Joyce left, Gals took out the gift the Queen had given to Lucy: a box of chocolates stamped with wax.
Liao Qian: "Gals, does Lucy have the right to refuse?"
Gals: "Of course, we won't force her if she doesn't want to."
Allen: "That's good. Seeing how confident Joyce is, I'm worried about Lucy's situation."
Gals: "Joyce told the Queen that he would settle down for Lucy. I didn't think he would lie to the Queen, but when I saw him today, he was still the same as before, unchanged."
Liao Qian: "Three hours ago, his girlfriend Jennifer slapped him and left, which is a record. He hasn't called a new girl in three hours."
Gals: "That's a real record."
Gals took a bite of ice cream, and the smooth texture made her feel happy.
Gals: "God Liao, could you please have the Bread King and her husband come to see me?"
Liao Qian: "Of course, my brother, bring my brother's wife over."
Liao Qian waved to Lei Ting. An Ning knew that Gals must want to see them. An Ning and Lei Ting washed their hands, tidied their clothes, and went to see Gals.
Anning: "Greetings, Duke Gals."
Gals: "Hello, I didn't expect the Bread King of Newts City to be such a lovely girl. That's amazing."
An Ning: "Hehe, Duke Gals is too kind."
Thunder sat next to Gals. This nobleman was unlike any of the knights Thunder usually met. Thunder was willing to talk to him and felt at ease being by his side.
Thunder: "Duke Gals, do you have a wife?"
Gals: "Yes, she's taking care of three naughty children in my castle."
Thunder: "You're so lucky."
Gals: "Haha, happiness is something you create with your own hands..."
Thunder: "Yeah, I wish Joyce was half as good as you."
As everyone chatted, Joyce checked the time by the pool, wondering why Lucy hadn't arrived yet. W was waiting at the door; he would greet Lucy upon her arrival. Anning held Thunder's hand, deeply worried about Lucy. Thunder and Anning also asked Gals if Lucy truly had the right to refuse Joyce. Gals repeatedly assured them that she wouldn't be made to suffer, which reassured everyone. As W extended her hand to greet her, Lucy removed her gloves and hat, and walked in with her assistant carrying a drawing board.
W: "Miss Lucy, please."
Liao Qian nudged Allen, and Lucy arrived. Allen and Gals got up to greet her. Joyce saw Lucy in a black dress by the pool and immediately picked up a bouquet of lilies and ran over.
Joyce: "Lucy, here are some lilies for you."
Lucy took it, smelled it, and thought it smelled nice. She smiled at Joyce.
Joyce reached out to hug Lucy, but Gals came over to greet her and shook hands with Lucy.
Lucy: "Duke Gals has kept you waiting."
Gals: "Come sit down and have a drink."
Lucy's assistant, carrying the flower, sat down by the pool. Joyce sat next to him, and Thunder and Anning also came over. Lucy recognized Anning at a glance.
Anning: "Lucy, it's been a long time. You look so beautiful today."
Lucy: "Anning, oh my god, I'm so happy to see you."
Anning and Lucy hugged, and Lucy patted her back happily. Anning was also very happy. Lucy looked to be in great shape, with a noble demeanor and a good mood. When she hugged Anning, she was half a head taller than Anning.
Anning: "Hehe, Lucy, I made cherry pancakes for you. Please sit down and enjoy them."
Lucy: "Okay, I heard you're already a bread king, that's great."
An Ning: "Hehe, it's all just empty fame."
Lucy: "Anning, sit here, I want to talk to you."
Anning: "Alright then, Thunder, let's sit here."
Anning and Leiting casually sat down opposite Lucy and Joyce. Liao Qian and Allen sat not far away, drinking and discussing politics with Gals, occasionally glancing at Anning's table to gauge their reactions. Lucy, who had been looking happy, asked Anning about her situation over the past few years. Anning was very happy talking to her, and the atmosphere was great. Joyce couldn't get a word in edgewise. Just as the waiter brought over a cherry sorbet, Joyce picked it up and held up a small spoon to feed it to Lucy.
Joyce: "Lucy, this is a cherry omelet that I had specially made for you. I'll feed you."
Lucy tossed her hair, gently ate the cherry Joyce had fed her, and praised Anning highly.
Lucy: "It tastes so good! Anning, your cooking skills are amazing. You truly deserve to be called the Bread Queen."
An Ning: "Hehe, isn't it a bit inconvenient for me to be here? I'll go over there..."
Lucy: "Don't go to Anning, stay with me."
Anning was surprised that Lucy could eat the cherry omelet Joyce fed her. Anning wanted to go to the side with Leiting, but Lucy said she wanted to stay with her for a while. Anning sat down opposite Lucy without worry, which made Joyce unhappy. She had accepted the flowers and eaten the cherry omelet, but hadn't said a word to her. What did this mean? Leiting saw that Joyce's expression was not good, so he interrupted Anning and Lucy who were talking.
Lei Ting: "An Ning, my neck is itchy, could you check if I've been bitten by any bugs..."
Anning touched Leiting's neck, noticing he didn't have a bag. Leiting gave her a look, and Anning understood. She quietly stood beside Leiting, the two of them turning to look at the lilies by the pool. Lucy also understood that Anning and Leiting didn't want to disturb her blind date. Lucy met Joyce's burning gaze but didn't respond at all. Lucy took the easel from her assistant and began to draw portraits of Anning and Leiting by the pool.
