An Ning lay silently in bed, refusing to speak no matter how Yu Li asked her. Yu Li sensed something was wrong and asked the nanny and housekeeper, but they both said they didn't know anything. She called Lei Ting, but he didn't answer. Yu Li didn't know what to do. An Ning's phone rang; it was her mother, Han Yi. An Ning didn't answer, her eyes still blank. Yu Li answered and said a few words, then put the phone to An Ning's ear. An Ning heard her mother's voice, and with just that one sound, she couldn't hold back and burst into tears, sobbing while clutching the phone. Her grievances overflowed from the screen. Han Yi realized something was wrong and instructed the family and servants to buy the nearest plane tickets. An Ning's father, An Yiyang, also canceled his work; the two of them were going back to China to see their daughter.
Yu Li: "I'm so angry! This kid isn't answering his phone! Lei Zhenyu, you have to think of something!"
Lei Zhenyu: "Hey, Chief Zheng, this is Lao Lei. Could you please check if my son, Lei Ting, is dead out there...?"
Yu Li was furious. She called Lei Ting but he wouldn't answer, and he wouldn't go home. It had been a whole day. An Ning wouldn't eat the food Yu Li brought to her mouth; she just cried. Lei Zhenyu was so angry that he used his connections and finally found Lei Ting entangled with Jasmine in the hotel. He sent people to drag him back. As soon as Lei Ting entered the courtyard, he was beaten with sticks by Lei Zhenyu. Lei Ting didn't resist; he just knelt in the courtyard and accepted Lei Zhenyu's beatings.
Yu Li: "You bastard, tell me, what did you do last night? Why did you take Anning to the maternity hospital today, and then go off to fool around with some wild woman outside? Tell me."
Lei Zhenyu: "You unfilial son, you unfilial son, I'll beat you to death, I'll beat you to death!"
Yu Li, who was always noble and reserved in front of others, disregarded her image at this moment and was about to hit Lei Ting with a stick. Lei Ting did not say anything. The housekeeper went to the maternity hospital to check and found out that An Ning had an abortion today. Yu Li and Lei Zhenyu were so angry with Lei Ting that they couldn't speak. An Ning had spoken to them from inside the house. Lei Ting lowered his head, neither answering nor refusing. Lei Zhenyu and Yu Li realized then, "We absolutely cannot get a divorce! We absolutely cannot get a divorce!"
Lei Zhenyu: "No, no, we can't get a divorce! Yu Li, you have to go and persuade your daughter-in-law not to get a divorce!"
Yu Li: "Ah! Anning, Anning, open the door."
