Chapter 39 Feeding the Pigeons

Thunder: "Baby, can we walk home together?"

An Ning: "What did you call me?"

Thunder: "Baby...you don't like me calling you Anning..."

An Ning: "Hehe, calling me 'baby' sounds nice too."

Thunder: "Hmm... okay, my darling, shall we go home together?"

An Ning: "Okay."

Anning took Leiting's hand and got out of the car with him. Below the road was the Thames River. Anning loved the Thames River very much, so she pulled Leiting down to walk along it.

Anning: "Thunder, come and see, the pigeons on the Tam River are still hungry. I'll feed them."

In the park along the Thames River, many foreigners are feeding pigeons. The white pigeons symbolize peace. When Anning first arrived in Niujin, she loved to come to the Thames River to feed the pigeons. Now she brings Leiting to feed the pigeons.

Thunder: "Our first official date was when we came to the Thames River to feed the pigeons. You were wearing a yellow shell hat, denim overalls, and white sneakers. You looked so cute."

An Ning: "Really! Am I cute now?"

Lei Ting: "I'm more mature now than before, and I'm also cute. I have more of a woman's charm."

An Ning: "That's true, after all, I'm already married, hehe. Lei Ting, you're feeding the pigeons too..."

Thunder: "So...so...so fat..."

An Ning: "What?"

Thunder: "Haha... I'm really craving barbecue here. These pigeons are so fat, they'd taste amazing grilled... haha..."

Anning: "You're so annoying! You scared all the pigeons away."

Upon hearing Lei Ting's words, the pigeons scattered in all directions. Lei Ting swallowed hard, really craving barbecue. An Ning used to go to the food stalls with him at night for barbecue, but unfortunately, Niujin didn't have barbecue from Fengtian.

Thunder: "Haha, baby, there's a painter over there, let's have them paint a portrait of us!"

An Ning: "Okay, hehe."

Anning sat in front of the portrait, holding Leiting's hand. The Thames River was behind them, and many tourists were taking pictures along its banks. Leiting, still holding Anning's hand, had their portrait painted by a free-spirited artist. Anning looked at Leiting; his eyes were very focused, a concentration she longed for. Anning leaned close to Leiting's ear, and he embraced her.

An Ning: "I like you..."

Thunder: "I love you..."

An Ning: "Hehe."

Anning's smile, with its shrugs and gentle covering of her mouth, exuded a charm that captivated Lei Ting. Lei Ting generously tipped the painter. Both Lei Ting and Anning loved the portrait; it was a sketch. Anning was engrossed in examining the details, while Lei Ting reached out to shield her from some sunlight. Just as they were immersed in this beautiful moment, a pigeon flew by, nearly landing on Anning's head. Lei Ting deflected it with his hand, and the pigeon changed direction, flying away. Anning looked up, and Lei Ting's hand descended. A fierce-looking woman appeared before her, almost touching her and poised to strike. Lei Ting immediately shoved the woman's left shoulder, knocking her to the ground.

Jasmine: "Thunder..."

When Lei Ting saw that it was Jasmine coming over, he was already furious. Everything happened so fast that An Ning hadn't even reacted yet when Jasmine fell to the ground and shouted Lei Ting's name. Lei Ting glared at her with a furious expression. An Ning tried to help her up, but Lei Ting immediately protected An Ning and wouldn't let her get close to her.

An Ning: "Lei Ting, you pushed her down... Wait, how do you know Lei Ting?"

Anning realized that the woman in front of her, who looked like a woman from the night, must be Jasmine. Leiting tried to take Anning away, but Jasmine stood up and stopped them.

Jasmine: "Don't go, you two bastards, don't go..."

Thunder: "Let's go..."

Lei Ting, still holding An Ning, tried to leave, but Jasmine reached out to grab him. Enraged, Lei Ting kicked her, the kick landing heavily in her chest, sending her crashing down three meters away from both Lei Ting and An Ning. An Ning stared in disbelief at Lei Ting's fury, now certain that it was Jasmine. Lei Ting pulled An Ning away, Jasmine still shouting.

Jasmine: "Hahaha, it's worth it to have your children buried with my child, it's totally worth it! Hahaha..."

Upon hearing this, An Ning stopped and turned to look at her. Lei Ting tried to pull her away, but An Ning wouldn't budge. Instead, she turned around and carefully examined Jasmine.

Jasmine lay sprawled on the ground, her face a picture of utter disarray. Her already scantily clad clothes were now tattered and torn, her fingernails digging into the ground in a display of fury. Her body was covered in wounds, her red fishnet stockings riddled with holes, and blood trickled from the corner of her mouth. She glared at the two women with a mocking yet insulting gaze. Anning gestured, and two bodyguards appeared out of nowhere, surrounding Lei Ting, Anning, and Jasmine with a gray net. Those outside couldn't see what was happening inside, and the onlookers were dispersed by the bodyguards. Anning looked at Jasmine, who glared back fiercely at her.

Anning: "Did you kill my child?"

Jasmine: "So what if it is? You deserve to die, you two deserve to die too..."

Lei Ting: "An Ning, let's not talk to her. Come home with me."

Jasmine: "Home? You still have a home! You're divorced, aren't you? On your second wedding anniversary, Lei Ting abandoned you and spent the night with me. He didn't want to go home this morning, hahaha, it's me who outshone you, the young lady of the An family..."

Thunder was about to strike, but Anning stopped him. Anning still hadn't voiced the question in her mind. Jasmine looked at Anning, who radiated a menacing aura, with great fear. The fact that a single gesture could send people to surround the scene at Thames Park was truly terrifying.

Anning: "Leiting has loved you for many years, why don't you cherish him?"

Jasmine: "Love? He loves me? He doesn't love me at all. He's just playing with me. He's a bastard, a womanizer. He played me, and he played you too..."
