Chapter 61 Some Little Surprises

Upon learning that Lei Ting and An Ning were attending the anniversary celebration of Niujin University, some ill-intentioned people who coveted Lei Ting and An Ning slowly surfaced. Lei Ting taught Bing Qing Yu Jie a lesson for wanting to see the two make a fool of themselves. He saw Julie and An Ning exchange a few words and then head towards the rose arch bridge. Lei Ting showed Julie a glimpse of his back, and sure enough, Julie saw Lei Ting and immediately came looking for him.

Julie swayed her hips and walked away, leaving Anning bewildered. Julie spotted Lei Ting at the arched bridge ahead, and Lei Ting, seeing Julie approaching, disappeared behind a cluster of balloons. Anning wanted to go over and watch, but the driver said Lei Ting had instructed her to watch the magic show closely. Anning looked around; her classmates were all around. Several familiar faces, holding wine glasses, were giving Anning, dressed in an elegant cheongsam, their eyes darting around with uneasy glances. This probing look made Anning uneasy. Lei Ting's gaze was different; it held deep affection, tenderness, and a desire to encompass everything. Anning recalled her tenderness with Lei Ting the previous night and unconsciously smiled, raising her glass to savor the wine. The driver poured her more and stood guard beside her. Anning couldn't get up now, so she sat in her chair and waited for Lei Ting.

Julie followed the direction of Thunder's retreating figure, searching carefully, but still couldn't find him. Just as Julie was wondering what was going on, Thunder appeared behind her. Many helium balloons surrounded them, making them completely invisible to outsiders.

Thunder: "Is the beautiful lady looking for me?"

Julie turned around and saw Thunder smiling at her. Overwhelmed with joy, Julie was about to rush towards Thunder when he blocked her way with a handful of balloons. Clutching the balloons, Julie's legs trembled as she tried to get closer to Thunder, but he took a step back and stopped her from moving forward.

Thunder: "Julie... don't move... there are a few things I want to say to you."

Julie: "Thunder, do you remember me? Do you remember my name is Julie?"

Thunder: "Of course, it's hard to forget Miss Juliet's figure."

Julie was overjoyed to see that Thunder still remembered her. She popped several balloons with her long fingernails, and a puff of helium blew over. Julie took a breath, almost losing her balance. Thunder looked at her mockingly; this Julie was hardly any better than Jasmine.

Thunder: "Miss Julie, are you alright? Why can't you stand up straight?"

Julie: "I'm fine, Thunder... They all say you beat your wife and drove her away. I don't believe it, I don't believe it at all. How could someone as handsome as you beat a woman?"

Thunder: "I've hit women before, but those were women who were greedy and had no bottom line. Miss Julie wouldn't be that kind of person, would she?"

Julie: "No way! You haven't been to Niujin for years, and I've been waiting for you! Thunder, now that you've divorced Anning, Anning must have someone else by her side and has long forgotten you. But I haven't forgotten you. I've never forgotten you. Your heroic figure and your appearance are still imprinted in my mind."

Thunder: "Miss Juliet has investigated me very thoroughly! Is she really that interested in me?"

Julie: "Of course, I have feelings for you! Thunder, I'm confessing my feelings to you, and I hope you'll accept me."

Thunder: "Men are better at confessing their feelings."

Julie: "What? What do you mean?"

Thunder: "Just cooperate. S... come here for a second."

Julie looked at Thunder with a puzzled expression. Thunder beckoned to S, who ran over. Thunder patted him on the shoulder and gave him a wink. S looked at Julie, still confused.

S: "Mr. Lei, what's wrong? Is there anything you need?"

Thunder: "Today's leading lady has arrived. I'll leave her to you for now; I have some more important things to do."

S: "OK, please come with me and put the veil on."

Julie: "A veil? Thunder, what does that mean?"

Thunder: "Shh...look..."

Thunder pointed ahead, where many people were setting up an archway for confessions of love. Balloons were covered with messages saying "Say yes!" Julie's eyes lit up with joy. Combining Thunder's earlier words, she assumed that today's confession was for her. Julie turned around, but Thunder was already gone. Overjoyed, Julie grabbed S's hand and asked...

Julie: "Is this... a confession?"

S: "Yes, although the arrangement for this confession was a bit rushed, it still reflects Mr. Lei's good intentions."

Julie: "Ah! What did he... what did he arrange..."

S: "Originally, we just planned to release balloons and flower petals all over the sky... but when Mr. Lei arrived, it turned into a Chinese-style veil-lifting ceremony, similar to a Chinese wedding."

Julie: "A Chinese wedding! A Chinese wedding!"

S: "Please come with me! You are the leading lady today, and this is all arranged for you. When you put on the veil, you must not take it off by yourself, otherwise there will be no surprise."

Julie: "I know, I know, I'm half Chinese too, I know these things."

S: "So you're mixed race, no wonder your eyes are blue. Okay, then please sit here and wait. We'll light the fireworks. When you hear the music and our voices calling you, get up and someone will help you up and take you to the stage. It might take a little while, as the school celebration is going on outside. Wait a bit, and once everyone is here, we'll begin."

Julie: "Okay, okay... Great, I'll cooperate perfectly and stay perfectly still. Great, I'm going to be Mrs. Ray."

Julie was arranged by S to sit on a stool and dream. After Lei Ting finished doing all this, he couldn't help but laugh. With their IQs, they thought they could pursue and bully An Ning? Lei Ting could easily beat them up with his eyes closed.

Lei Ting, having done all this, smiled and walked towards An Ning, holding a bouquet of Juliet's roses in his arms. The pale brown petals, like golden dragons on Lei Ting's black robe, twined around the stems, creating a striking contrast with An Ning's sky-blue cheongsam—a sight to behold. Lei Ting placed the bouquet in An Ning's lap, and An Ning gestured for him to sit down. An Ning had almost forgotten about Juliet, admiring the flowers in her arms; they were truly beautiful.
