Chapter 116 Shoveling Snow Early

As the harsh winter arrives, snowflakes flutter down.

Winters in Rongcheng aren't particularly harsh. When a cold front arrives, it can stay chilly for a few days. But once the sun comes out, the temperature rises quickly again.

In the past few days, a strong cold front moved south, and snowflakes fell in Rongcheng, swirling and fluttering all night.

At dawn, Ning Lang woke up more than half an hour later than usual. Standing at the window, looking down at the white expanse below the courtyard, he couldn't help but feel worried.

With such heavy snow, it will probably take more than an hour to clear it all.

After washing up, she quickly walked downstairs.

Green didn't sleep very well in the "pet greenhouse." It twisted its neck and continued to sleep with its little body tilted to one side.

Ning Lang stole a glance and tiptoed towards the open kitchen.

I washed some black glutinous rice and added red dates, put it in a pot to cook, turned around and went to the entrance to put on my coat and hat, put on snow boots and gloves, and went out with a snow shovel.

The yard was quite large, and she slowly shoveled, soon becoming covered in sweat.

She took off her coat, pulled up her loose sweater, and continued shoveling.

Suddenly, the sound of brakes came from the doorway!

The next moment, a tall, dark figure flashed outside the fence, a pair of large hands gripping the top of the fence, then a long leg, and then a handsome, deep-set face.

He peered in—and met Ning Lang's eyes, which seemed to be both smiling and not smiling.

Sheng Xuan: "..."

Ning Lang raised an eyebrow: "Entering a private space or place without the owner's permission is considered a public order incident."

Sheng Xuan flipped over nonchalantly, jumped down nimbly, and raised his chin, "Too lazy to ring the doorbell!"

Then, he snatched the shovel from her hand and deftly began shoveling snow.

Ning Lang straightened up and unconsciously rubbed her slender waist. "I'm a little tired."

Sheng Xuan glanced at the small corner she had cleared and couldn't help but chuckle, "Have you been neglecting your exercise lately because of the cold weather?"

"Hmm." Ning Lang's eyes flickered slightly. She turned around and tugged at her loose sweater. "It's cold. I'm too lazy to move."

Sheng Xuan glanced at her in disbelief, "Does this sound like something Ning Lang would say? During that cold wave when the ice was frozen solid, did that guy who was ice skating and skiing early in the morning travel back in time?"

Ning Lang laughed and leisurely took off his gloves. "People change. The eldest young master of the Sheng family, who used to insist on not wearing his shoes and relying on servants to carry him when it snowed or rained, is now shoveling snow by himself."

Sheng Xuan took off his coat and tossed it to her, then continued shoveling snow.

He lives in the attic of a herbal tea shop in the city center, right in front of the road, where workers come to shovel snow early in the morning.

It's different for her; she has to clean her own yard.

He skipped his morning exercise, washed up, got in his car, and drove over. Shoveling snow is hard work anyway, so he figured he might as well treat it as exercise.

Ning Lang carried his coat into the house and hung it up. She went straight to the kitchen, washed a few eggs and put them in a pot to boil. She also took out the steamed buns she had made last night and put them in a steamer to steam.

After a while, she poured half a cup of hot water, added a little cold water, and opened the large kitchen window.

She called out, "Take a break and have some water."

Sheng Xuan looked up, beads of sweat on his forehead and face. He slung the shovel over his shoulder, strode to the window, and took a big gulp of the shovel.

Ning Lang's gaze faltered slightly as he suddenly recalled a scene from that summer.

She accompanied her grandfather to visit the Sheng family, but unfortunately, she witnessed him being punished by his grandfather for doing something wrong.

Seeing him suffer a setback and be punished, she couldn't stop smiling and chuckling to herself.

The boy glared at her angrily, "Hey little girl! How dare you laugh at me! You'll regret this!"
